I upgraded to BD because the discs are more durable and with better packaging. It's probably a better investment than DVDs.
So i should stick with bluray sorry with the questions I just dont wanna start this bluray collection then suddenly theres gonna be another new release of sailor moon you know?

In my opinion, there's no point in continuing buying the Region 4 DVD sets since from now on, they will be using the Japanese upscaled video source of SuperS and Stars. So for consistency, I swapped to the Blu-Ray set. Also, there will probably a new release of Sailor Moon somewhere down the line anyway haha

Call me fickle, but despite living in Australia, I'm having a hard time choosing between the Viz blu ray sets and the Madman ones.

Hear me out.

I already own season 1 of the Viz blu ray set (it arrived bent, thanks Rightstuf), but decided to hold on for a UK release that will probably never happen so I'm making a choice.

I prefer the look of the Viz sets, though I do find the character art for both lacking and wish we had access to the Japanese blu ray covers. I'd also rather not have to buy season 1 again. It also comes with the dvds as well as the blu rays so I can lend them out or them over when I babysit my niece and nephew.

Still, I keep thinking back to the Toei Masters used for the Madman Blu rays. Are they worth it? People have said here that there's barely any difference. Has anyone done some side by side comparisons with the Viz sets? I know they did with Toei's broadcast.

IDK who told you there's barely a difference LOL Viz's Sailor Moon R part 1 video quality is particularly unwatchable. Madman's BDs are miles beyond Viz's video quality-wise. But I own both sets since I prefer Viz's packaging as well.

I think that was just what people thought from the still images of the Toei broadcast. I'm guessing it outshines Viz in motion. Are the pre-episode speeches before or after the opening on the Madman blu rays?

If I had the money I would buy:
- The Limited Edition part 1 Viz sets
- The Madman blu rays
- The Madman DVDs

Then I could the Madman DVDs and Blu rays in the viz sets and sell off what I didn't need, but I don't have that kind of money.

IIRC, the episode previews are after the opening songs. They may change it for Sailor Moon SuperS since Viz did as well. I would skip the Madman DVDs, since the quality will be inconsistent anyway now that Madman is using different masters. Just save up $20 each month and you'll be able to buy the sets over time.

True, but the separate dvd parts will go down in price now that the complete season dvd sets have replaced them. What am I saying? I shouldn't looking to buy several versions of the same set.

If anyone is looking to buy the sailor moon blurays or dvds from madman right now is the time do it with JB Hi-Fi | JB Hi-Fi - Australia's Largest Home Entertainment Retailer not only are they having a buy 2 get one free on almost everything including the sailor moon sets, but they are also marked down for the time being. i just ordered the first 3 seasons blu ray edition for only 140 bucks that is already way cheaper than what i paid for one full season of the viz media set here in the states. I believe this sale is only going on until July 6 so better hope on the deal while you can.

I've noticed a drop in quality between madmans season 3 DVD and season 4 DVD.
I think the European masters are still used for the streaming service (animelab) though.

I just received my Sailor Moon R and Sailor Moon S Blu-Ray sets. The plastic cases were broken for some reason, which seems to be a trend for whenever I order from JB Hi-Fi... But luckily these Blu-Ray cases can be easily replaced. I haven't gotten around to watching the video quality yet.

Available on June 6th:

Moon Prism Power Collection

Sailor Moon: Moon Prism Power Collection - DVD

This set is strange, It looks to be a DVD re-release of season 1 part 1 but the complete set for that season came out not too long ago and the listed extras implies that this will have new discs.and new packaging.
Sailor Moon: Moon Prism Power Collection 2 - DVD

Available on September 5th.

Did anyone confirm what's in the first set? Judging by the updated cover art, it looks to have book-shaped packaging similar to FUNi's DBZ Rock The Dragon set along with most of NIS America's anime LEs.
