I always disliked the hentai faces the Correctors make while their brooch appears around their breasts. They move their heads around like they are...
I'm glad Precure killed that standard in mahou shoujo meant for kids. I agree the senshi could look sexier in Crystal, but I don't miss the old panty shots at all.
Lol! All that energy flowing into you at once makes ya go crazy!!! :creeper::lol:

It’s interesting how a darker color scheme sometimes improves scenes from Crystal/Eternal. I def think the movies were too bright.
When she the grabs the Eternal Tiare moving to the left, the posing is identical to Gorgeous Meditation from the 90s anime.
Anyway, I always disliked this scene because her bangs look off. Her forehead is a bit... Starlighty

They should just reshow the animated Manga that was shown on Sailor Moon Channel rather than CrysEternalCosmos, I miss the Flash manga animations on Sailor Moon Channel since I missed the Dream Arc and Stars Arc.

I wonder if there will be the same international hype, that Eternal had, for Cosmos. Something tells me NO.
I think Spanish-speaking Latin America is going to go crazy over it, Sailor Moon's popularity is still insane there. I think that might apply to Italy as well.
But I don't see the movie collecting global top tens like Eternal. Let's be honest, that was UNDESERVED.

Impo, Sailor Moon is still popular over here in the US, but I think I see more people bringing up the '90s anime than they do the current version. I think with the Eternal movie, the problem is that once people saw the trailer and bits of animation, they were expecting everything to be revolutionary and the story to be great. Others were concerned about cramming the manga into a movie. At times, the Eternal movie is aesthetically pleasing and at some points it falls very short. Some fans expected that Sailor Moon Eternal would get the same quality and excitement as the Brolli movie did. The final battle against Nehellania was lackluster and seemed rushed. There was hardly any struggles or epic battles. The enemies were here one second and dead the next second..

First part seemed like they should have been episodes but maybe making it into a movie was cheaper since they wouldn't have to complete full length episodes and do an opening and ending, I assume? Who knows.

I don't hate the movie though. It's not unwatchable.

At this point I think what Toei/Bandai/Kodansha only care about is the aesthetics. Honestly... it's the strongest point of SM. Not everyone enjoys Crystal, the 90's show, Sera Myu or the manga, however we are amazed at the impeccable aesthetics of the whole Takeuchi's world view.

The reality is that we learnt the hard way that Sailor Moon is pretty much like Minnie Mouse or Betty Boop in Japan. A legacy franchise.
I hope they have a Netflix deal beforehand now and they take it into consideration when allocating budget for Cosmos

Isn't that a general feature of the manga, hence just showing how faithful the adaptation is? :P

Aesthetics is what only counts for merch sales.

I dont know if the movie format make some lackluster, and didnt have the tension waiting the next week for a new episode leaving the situation in a suspense, mh and i dont remember the finals battles in the 90s were to long either

Honestly, I think the main reason Crystal/Eternal has never been given the love it deserved by Toei is that Anime is still seen primarily as a boys club in Japan. It’s not only Sailor Moon, but even popular shoujo mangas like Cardcaptor Sakura and Tokyo Mew Mew got incredibly average adaptations. The former still hasn’t had a sequel announced in years despite the manga wrapping up soon. Even Precure which once upon a time used to go viral monthly for some amazingly animated moments has been pretty tepid lately.

It also doesn’t help that magical girl as a genre seems to have declined over the years.

It never helped that crystal is not popular with the fans in Japan who preferred the anime and musical plot over the manga, the Eternal forms aside from ESM were never used in the musicals even if Takeuchi had control over the musicals.

Every once in a while I forget Sailor Moon still has one movie left and I'll be doing something at home...and then this thought pops in my head...."Maybe I should go check the forums and see if anything new has popped up."
Hence your above new post popping up on this thread. P-:

Last night I started reading the last arc of the manga, made it through the first chapters before I couldn’t keep my eyes open.

I really like it. Visually it’s very beautiful, delicate, powerful, elegant, atmospheric. It has a new, mature and melancholic tone, at the same time lots of funny moments (thanks to Minako mostly). I’m looking forward to the battle scenes as we get new atracks from Uranus and Neptune and the Starlights. We might also get some real time action with Jupiter!

Now I am really worried about the movie format. There are many “slow” moments that need time to establish the mood. And the battles are suuuper rushed (Iron Mouse/Aluminum Siren). This arc needs a lot of care to not f*** it up. I think 3 movies or episodes would have been a better format. There are a lot of scenes on the roof of the school building and I wonder if this gets repetitive in a movie.

Sidenote: We’ll see e.g. Mars Flame Sniper again. We can probably expect them to reuse the material from Eternal with the fuku updated. It would be nice if they added something new, like backgrounds, do make them look more dynamic. Jupiters Oak Evolution needs more frames. But it would be also amazing to see the attacks performed also in real time.

Are there fan videos on youtube where people added backgrounds to the Inner Senshi attacks? Would love to see how they look.
