The movies I am skipping.

Although I am having a very joyful experience watching Crystal seasons I-III, and I have been documenting my reactions to the show, I am skipping the movies. Eternal looks like a separate product from Crystal, I do not like the character designs I have seen so far, and I will not support TOEI‘s mismanagement of what to me is a beloved franchise that brings me memories from my childhood.

I hope that soon the new “Cardcaptor Sakura” sequel will be here, so I will have something cheerful to watch during this quarantine.

80 minutes? That doesn't sound good. A while ago I said that Crystal might have one advantage over the 90's anime: a better adaptation of the Dream arc. And of course Toei has to mess up even that. I kinda wish the movie was an original story, unrelated to the Dream arc.

Hoping for something new like that cat Daimon in season 3. No need to make this into a lifeless adaptation.

It can't possibly backfire like that awful Shitennou X Senshi side arc since they have better writers this time. I can forgive this if the animation isn't fluid but bad story telling is a major no-no.

Let‘s not forget both movies together will have 160+ minutes of runtime.

130+ if you exclude the end credits, the transformations/stock footage and the rehash of the last five minutes of the last episode of season 3. That's about six TV episodes for an arc with 11 chapters (one of which is with an above average length).
Yeah the runtime could not possibly cover the Dream arc as a whole without there being liberal changes to the story. La Amour Eternal was 2+ hours and it made significant changes to the plot to be able to tell a coherent story that adapts the manga.

Also they hired a new writer probably for this reason. If this was going to be another panel by panel remake of the manga, they would have kept Kobayashi. Plus Naoko is now supervising probably because they need any changes to the plot OK'd by her.

But anyway, aside from the manga purists, a lot of people have been wanting Crystal to do its own thing. A conservative runtime will force them to get creative. That doesn't mean it will be executed well, but it's just ludicrous to think that they're going to somehow fit 5 acts in one film.

After she put a curse on Silver Millennium?

Edit: New goods
Usagi looks gorgeous here and kinda what I'd imagine Tadano's designs would look like if animated by Keiko Iwata.

i know 80 minutes, but no toei have to ruined doing a movie and no a series i wanted all parts of the manga now i dont know what is going to be taken out, and i feel sad if they do a trio senshi vs trio amazons because in each parts the senshi have a aventure and you know a little more about them if you cut out that it will be sad, i like the creepy look in the house of mirrors u.u

Yeah, a lot of people have been wanting it “to do its own thing,“ whatever that is. It started as an online series, then it became a televised series, and now it is going to be a movie—the art has changed, directors have changed, and it seems like too many people want different things.

Do we know for certain if they are using lots of stock footage. Also, they could transform together if they change the movie in a certain way. A group transformation is no more than 3 minutes out of 80. Individual transformations for the Inners are usually no longer than half a minute. The original Super S movie had all Inners changing at one time in four blocks. However, it is not known how different the transformations will be in Eternal and they probably won't be too long as usual even if they do transform separately. Speeches/attacks for the senshi are not long either. They are only long when they are strung all together in one sequence, not padded throughout the film.

And what stock footage are they going to use? All the attacks are new with their heart buttons and other fuku addons. This is a film, not a TV episode so I don't even see the need to use stock footage for it. They will probably transform once and flash transform in other scenes if it's written for them to appear. We really dont need to see them transform more than that to be honest. Lol

I mean it's confirmed they're going to show stock footage for their speeches. Why would you assume they won't show their transformations?

Again even if they show the transformations and speech once, it's still at least five minutes of the movie (because that's exactly how much time it took the last two seasons). Sounds small, but when there's 80 minutes and you still have to cut off five minutes just for the credits sequence in the end, 70 minutes cannot possibly adapt five acts without there being massive changes.

I was saying that they have never drawn them in their current outfits doing the speeches and stuff. I only think the transformations and speeches are long when they transform together in a sequence but the original Super S movie put their transformations at the same time. If these are not new transformations, they could do it the same. I say its small because I don't know how they will structure the Inners confrontation. If they mesh it together in a way where it happens simultaneously, that could reduce time and allow room. Im just saying with a good writer and competent director, magic can happen.

I think it's good at 80 minutes, that's longer than most of the Pretty Cure films and probably others too.

Stock footage is something you repeatedly use, not transformations by itself lol.

I always wanted them to go for this kind of artstyle (not 90's reference lmao), but the simple plain colors with almost not shadows or highlights and pastel tones... idk I've had seen a bunch of anime with this kind of aesthetics and they look great

the only ones wanting "different things" were those who didn't know or want it to be a manga adaptation. They're the ones responsible for the pandering.

I love the new footage and Zirconia. The music is fitting and i love it as usual. As for the 80 minutes: not sure what to think about it. I know this account was right in the past but maybe he/she is wrong this time around? But even if its true i can still see this working just fine as long as Venus Dream isnt part of the first movie. The usual SM and SMC episodes were under 20 minutes anyway if you cut out the intro, outro, transformations, title cards, speeches, next episode tease and some flashbacks/repeated footage. Even then i can see Toei shortening the first act of Dead Moon Circus saga. For example they can get rid of scenes like Mamo buying the caleidoscopes, talking weapons, animals transforming into trio (they can be introduced as regular minions and change back into animals after their human bodies get killed by the senshi which would be a way for saving them), Chibiusa trying to get back to 30th century and failing, maybe even getting rid of the scene between sick Mamo and small Usagi from Mercury's dream, senshi visiting the circus after Mars dream? They dont have to make big changes to make the movie faithful while having the right flow.

If Venus dream is included it might be a mess though.
Its also possible 80 minutes is just a rough number this person heard but it could be 80+ in reality like 85 or 88
