I noticed this too. It’s likely because a different studio is working on this dub instead of Studiopolis, if I recall correctly.

That's more on the director change, they could have gotten the same writer as Crystal but apparently decided not to.

Jeez.. the French dub also has “mamo-Chan”. His name was Endy in the French Crystal dub. I guess there goes consistency.

That aside, I’m excited. The YouTube trailer let’s you switch the audio to hear all of them.

No, as far as I know, no Western dub reuses names.

I think it has to do with the Latin American dub controversy where they were using the old names until Naoko noticed.

the translator had to send a sheet with all the terminology used and they returned her the approved one. Which basically had 90’s attacks names and the Japanese names.

So probably based on that experience, Naomi ask to keep all terminology the same.

same, as much as I love some of the old voice from the latin dub (Mónica Manjarrez), they sound so old

I'm assuming this is why the various dubs are using Mamo-chan:

During the first moments after the announcement, euphoria ran through the Spanish Sailor Moon community and very interesting things were said.
The person who has been responsible for the translation and adaptation of the films commented that there would be certain nods to the Spanish dubbing of the 90s but that many other things were imposed or were rejected by Naoko Takeuchi herself, who was also supervising the adaptations to all the languages. We can confirm that she has been more involved than with the rest of Crystal.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of Naoko/Toei's new rule, where the original Japanese names (Usagi, Ami, Rei, etc.) remain untranslated or altered, if "Mamo-chan" is left alone in EVERY language dub.

It's pretty obvious this Mamo-chan stuff is coming from Naoko. Toei couldn't care less about a nickname used in the show.
Before Naoko entered the scene, Toei was giving permission for both the European Portuguese and Latin Spanish dubs of Crystal reuse their old character names.
