Would Mimete be a sociopath even without a daimon possessing her?

Out of all the Witches 5 she seems to be the odd one out. Doesn't even possess technological knowledge and just steals stuff from Eudial and I'm assuming she stole a prototype staff from Cyprine or Ptilol. Also she displays some symptoms of anti social personality disorder.

I just don't see any potential in her too whether possessed by a daimon or not. And I think Mistress 9 would've ditched her if Mimete was the one who successfully gets a pure heart for her. Well I could be wrong though. Mistress 9 would just kill all her subordinates who are too ambitious. Interesting she offers :usagi: a chance to become a daimon.

What do you guys think?
I'm autistic but I also have an antisocial personality disorder, and yet when I watch Mimete, I don't see any antisocial traits (anime 90).

If she has a personality disorder trait, it could be the disgust of people who get too close to her idols and go so far as to attack innocent people out of pure revenge. While they are not part of the plan of attack.

Example: in the first appearance, she orders the monster to attack the group of women who made fun of her (with the cake) and she takes pleasure in seeing them suffer.

This could be an anti-social trait. A disgust with people but also a spirit of revenge and voluntary humiliation.

There is also the fact that she can maintain a discussion or other but after a while, she will destroy the relationship (Minako / Mimete) in episode 115.

The life of an anti-social person is very hard, there are ups and downs.

she's the kind of crazy that would break into a star's room to smell their guitar
I can picture her stealing stuff too.

That or asking for money to anyone she comes into contact making up stories. XD

I actually reported one a few years back at the office. Boy, that person really had so many victims in the office asking for money and even had a foreigner duped into making a fake investment. There was like a story to tell every time I found one of his victims. It's like half the office floor fell victim to him.

Yeah, I know it's fanon, but I have always believed that in the old anime, the Witches 5 and Kaolinite were all actual humans who had their heart crystals taken to sustain the shadow of Mistress 9 and in exchange were infused with Tau energy. After all Hotaru was a little girl when she had her accident and was a young teenager in S, so she had to be taking some heart crystals or energy between then and S to actually live. It makes sense especially when you see that the victims of heart crystals also have their eyes take on that telltale pupil-less stare. The few times victims were able to remain conscious and mobile after getting their heart crystal taken, they started acting very erratically, a though without the moral center they quickly became obsessed with their goals (and reminiscent of Nephrite and his Youmas in Classic). One can surmise that if a person were able to live without a heart crystal, that person would be naturally evil, like soulless vampires on Buffy or Morlocks from GvsE. Add extra energy into the mix and yeah, there's a easy story to construct that these girls have something animating them that is robbing them of actual moral agency.

I'd also like to posit that since Mistress 9 needed pure hearts, that the girls themselves were neutral to good, but had a drive and passion which would make good fuel for the Messiah, so I don't believe any of the Witches were once as cutthroat as they turned out to be. I can see the Professor Tomoe/Germatoid fusion grooming these girls, telling them about a special "assignment" then leading them, one by one to that creepy throne room where a little girl would literally eat their heart crystal out and then put Tau energy into them, changing them from their civilian selves to Eudial, Mimete, Tellu, Viluy, and Cyprine.

So that's a long way of me to say that, no, I don't think Mimete would be evil if she were a normal human girl.

But at the same time, does that rob them of agency completely? If not, they didn't seem like mindless drones, so I get where you're coming from.

That's a really tricky question.

On one hand, it's not as though they are made into puppets, or forcibly driven insane with a virus or anything like that. Also, unlike GvsE and Buffy mentioned above, where the lack of soul generally renders the body that is left just a corrupted corpse of what the person once was, it's clear especially in Mimete's case that she could have attempted to choose to not be evil. We also have the Tomoes who were more clearly possessed to the point where the respective entities were taking the wheel, so the Witches 5 weren't in one of those situations either.

At the same time, there does seem to be something going on more than a mere inherent thirst for power or fanaticism at play. I say this because there really doesn't seem to be any reason for their steadfast devotion to their cause, and yet there was this weird competition between all of them even though it would have made more strategic sense for all of them to work together. I'd argue they were less responsible for their actions than the Black Moon Clan who were manipulated and clearly affected by the Black Crystal but with the exception of Black Lady still had a sizable measure of free will. But they clearly have more agency than Kunzite's Youmas, who were people forcibly turned evil, or even the people under the influence of Nephrite's mark.

In the end, I'd like the think of them right at the edge of the moral agency line, their heavily skewed morality and mentality pushes them heavily towards being evil, but with willpower or determination they could live with the darkness and impulses within. But unless they had heart crystals, those impulses would be constant and part of them, not even able to fight against, only to choose when to indulge. Much like the tagline for Penny Dreadful goes, "there is something within us all."

Imagine if Mimete had lived to see the Twilight franchise. :mischief:
I remember hearing stories of Twilight fans attacking random girls for daring to pick the wrong ship or for stating they didn't like the show. Mimete would have been right at home.
