Ugh, Korean dramas. Don't get me wrong, some were really good. But the really hyped hits in the last few years really didn't appeal to me one bit. Maybe its just me, but the story line just seem a bit tired...maybe even retreads of old stories? "My Love from the Star"? Shrugs...very average I have to say, although they do have a good cast. Which one is the latest hit"? "Descendant of the Sun" right? Saw a couple of episodes, and frankly, I don't know why it is so popular.

Because I love Minako, I felt that Minako wasn't Minako in PGSM. She was a totally different character.

Minako was neither cheerful or funny, she was a cold character and had the personality of Michiru/Haruka, and on top of that she was dying (oh my God, so tragic...)

At one point, it felt like Rei and Minako were acting more like Michiru and Haruka than like themselves.

As for the subject of the thread at hand, I definitely think another live action version of the series could work. It just comes down to what people would work on it.

Blame the writer, Yasuko Kobayashi... She has a thing for writing characters w/ mysterious terminal illnesses.

I guess she just loves writing tragedies. lol

Even though PGSM did openly declare Mars to be Venus's second-in-command.

I also think that's unlikely, especially that Mercury looked even more like the leader in the Final Act after Minako's death (by urging the other Inners to attack PSM, pointing out that Usagi would wish them to do just that).

Precisely, Rika-Chicchi. Regardless of the plot twist and the fact that Minako is human, haven't the girls already died enough times? :-P

It was sad, yes, & very much so, but that shouldn't be the problem - if anything, it could even be seen as a success in the plot. :)
But people don't LIKE to be SAD! :P

Granted some don't, hence it's become a problem for them, but as I said in your quote above, it shouldn't be.

The scenes are from a recent Kamen Rider movie.

Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine was created by the same guy who created Kamen Rider, so it makes sense for Poitrine to be in the movie (it is a cameo, I think).

Yeah, he was one of the most influential figures in tokusatsu, a shaper of the industry.

I never saw the problem with Minako's death. I thought it was a cool yet depressing idea, and this is coming from someone who's second favourite senshi is Venus. In fact, I thought it added a nice twist, as alot of changes PGSM made did. There's this constant illusion in the other adaptions that the Senshi can't die from natural causes, so I thought it was pretty cool to see that they're not invincible from something like that, even if it's just in PGSM. Minako in PGSM was also one of my favourite versions of her. Loved the alternate, serious, warrior like characterisation.

While it's never been mentioned explicitly, it's suggested in the show that the illness is related to the brain, as hinted by those X-ray films of the brain shown near her in the hospital, as well as her symptoms seen in various episodes, hence leading to a speculation that it's a brain tumor. :)

Well, I think they simply wanna kill her, not because they wanna anoint a new leader. lol

Hollywood could work if they truly care about SM. Just have to give that essence and feeling, rather than being flashy or do what's best to make money. But that's a long shot, stick it with Japan.

Probably safer if Hollywood did it animated... P-:

In addition to the ballet-fu (which mainly appears in the earlier episodes), both hand-to-hand & weapon combats are also featured in PGSM. :)

Ironically, that was one of the very few things I actually liked in the series. In almost all other movies with talking animals there are only two approaches: either use real animals, or 3D computer models.

And animatronics too.

Yeah, and the addition of a new plushie to Usagi's preexisting plushie collection was far less conspicuous than her bringing home a real with her that she'd have to convince her family to let her keep and take care of. A new toy is much easier to deal with.
