Despite it being a developed country, Japan seems like it is a tricky and disorienting nation for foreign visitors to explore. I've read on some website of the most awkward or dangerous situations while traveling in Japan.

1. Language barrier (even if you're just asking someone for directions).
2. Lack of English text on most signs and storefronts.
3. Leaving your belongings unattended for a short time and then its missing forever.
4. Xenophobic locals and even police officers who constantly harass foreigners.
5. The super expensive and exhausting airplane flight there.
6. Everything (especially in Tokyo) is ridiculously overpriced.
7. Fake monks will beg tourists just to swindle them.
8. Sporadic major natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis or volcanic eruptions.
9. Giant hornets. I've heard those f**kers can kill a person with only one sting.
10. Deadly heatwaves during the summertime.
11. The pain of getting a simple train pass.
12. Excessively crowded trains.
13. Perverts on trains who can grope anyone.
14. No single trash can on the streets.
15. It is culturally sensitive country that still holds on to their ancient traditions and customs which they take seriously to a strict and uptight degree. They can get easily upset by foreign guests who didn't mean to offend them by being or doing something unintentionally but what may seem rude or disrespectful such as their habits like not taking off their shoes off after entering their sacred shrine or leaving them a tip on a restaurant table.

Don't get me wrong though. I deeply admire Japan for their anime and video games and its national landmarks like Mount Fuji and Tokyo Tower. I just need helpful advice and solutions for these possible troubles above before visiting there.

If not, then I'm hoping that someday I'll finally get to meet someone who is actually born in Japan who at least know some English so that one day when I arrive there, he or she can guide and assist me to get around in Japan easily. :)

When exactly did this become the "Is Japan a good place for Danzig to visit?" thread? Can we please get back on topic???
All the talk before about this new Sailor Moon attraction at USJ caught my attention. And since it's only in Japan, that's how I went off a tangent of one day visiting there or not. I want to check out that ride which then leads me to talking about the pros and (mostly) cons of exploring the land of the rising sun.

1. Language barrier (even if you're just asking someone for directions).
Yes this is true.

2. Lack of English text on most signs and storefronts.
Not at all, english signs are all over.

3. Leaving your belongings unattended for a short time and then its missing forever.
You can leave your belongings anywhere and they usually will still be there when you return.

4. Xenophobic locals and even police officers who constantly harass foreigners.
Never experienced this.

5. The super expensive and exhausting airplane flight there.
Not really, you need to know where to look and spend time to find a good flight.

6. Everything (especially in Tokyo) is ridiculously overpriced.
Food not really, entertainment goods yes.

7. Fake monks will beg tourists just to swindle them.
..what?

8. Sporadic major natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis or volcanic eruptions.
There are often earthquakes.

9. Giant hornets. I've heard those f**kers can kill a person with only one sting.
Never seen one there.

10. Deadly heatwaves during the summertime.
Eh... this can happen anywhere.

11. The pain of getting a simple train pass.
Actually this is pretty easy.

12. Excessively crowded trains.
Very true though again I've experienced this is many populated cities.

13. Perverts on trains who can grope anyone.
I'm not female, haven't experienced this. (I heard it happens to them more often then males)

14. No single trash can on the streets.
True. You can never find any, anywhere.

True.

I think it would be nice to go but I don't think I could justify the price of the trip to myself and all the anxiety of international travel would be too much for me also. I mean it looks nice and all but is it worth it? Like it's not like they put Harry Potter money into it? I love Sailor Moon and all but I would rather go to Florida and not have to worry about getting a passport. Are they really strict about filming? It's weird that pretty much every Disney and Universal ride in the U.S you can film on but theres really no clips of the Sailor Moon rides on Youtube.

I swear... If we get a SuperS-based Universal attraction before the Dream movies/season comes out....
Well.....it's more so anime based than manga...and not much Crystal influence besides the music.

Looks like we're getting a S-based ride this time around? Looking forward to seeing the Outers included, and what Daimon they bring back.
YESSS, I need to see them!
