Japan have some weird censorship laws. Both Pretty Cure and DBZ are violent...not like excessive or gory but they literally have characters beating the snot outta each other.

I wonder if the net animation was an attempt to capitalize off of the sudden digital viewing craze...or maybe it was just a failed marketing tactic, who knows?

I can understand them censoring some things out but they left the some of the burning nun in Rei's episode and Hotaru's creepy cyborg arms.

Now while I am glad Sailor Moon is its own thing and not some beat the monster to a pulp fest, some times the anime had a tendency to make them just a tad bit underpowered. One blast and their tumbling down the hill. Hopefully we don't get too much of that in the Dream Movies.

I'm both excited and nervous to see how they pull off Moon Gorgeous Meditation, Flame Sniper, Aqua Rhapsody and Oak Evolution.

I also wish the Kalidescope could function as some kind of Moon Saber or something..lol

It's weird in the UK too, sexualised stuff is ok but violence and drug references are more difficult to explain to the BBFC.

I don't think it matters its net animation.Rules still apply.Like you ca'tn show minor drinking. It doesn't matter if it's late at night or not. Rules still apply
Nobody is talking about the drinking scene, and I'm glad they removed it although in anime they portray minors drinking a lot. Tons of shows have gore in them, and we are not even talking about gore here. The Demande scene is similar to the death of Conny in the first chapter/episode of Neverland and nobody skipped it, even it is a child. Toei simply couldn't commit to the original jousei target they announced.

Also at least based on shows on Netflix, a lot more is possible to be included on streaming, Some of their original shows has some edgier content and some shows that were somewhat censured on tv have that removed.

I was using that as an example. In modern day anime.Your not allowed to show a minor drinking.Thats why it was probably taking out.I was just saying you still had rules they had to follow.

Are you sure? In an anime from 2013 called Konosuba, a 16-year-old boy, called Kazuma was drinking, got drunk and even vomited. Then in the 2017 movie Haikara-san ga tooru 17 year-old girl was drinking sake in a tavern, later in geisha house. I really think this applies to kids anime and American TV stations.

Konosuba was a comedic laddish affair that allowed it, probably because it fitted with the tone, it's not unheard of to hear or see 16 year olds get smashed. Sailor Moon, being targeted at a younger audience, (especially when you take the original season to account), has a stricter set of guidelines.

but Crystal was first ONA then late night title, so it was not really a kid morning show, plus it was advertised as jousei.

Ahh, then in that case we may have to wait and see, I don’t normally put myself in censorship issues because it varies from country to country. However I will say as part of the British isles, we don’t censor sexuality as much as violence.

I spent my entire morning work period school my coworkers on Sailor Moon. The fact that I'm some grown man schooling them that Jupiter is Lightning/Plant base is amazing. I would have never thought as anime goers and lovers of Sailor Moon that they actually know nothing about outside of the North American song. I mean legit was like giving a rundown of the manga, explaining attacks and everything.

One guy kept calling Serena, Sabrina and I was just like is he doing this out of confusion or seeing if I'm a crazy fanboy who will jump his neck for mispronouncing everything. I was tickled.

I kept telling them several times...new Sailor Moon movies are on the way....New Sailor Moon movies are on the way..

Man, I knew there were fans that didn't know much about it but boy...

I started mentioning Sailor Mermaid and got all kinds of pauses and look...

Oiiiiii!

I'm ready for these dream movies...lol

It has been so long without any news that I am seriously getting worried on possible cancelation. While I have considered it before it was not serious, more like half-joke. But it has been like half an year without even a mention of this project. And like 3 years without any solid materials.

Don't worry. Stay positive. I think the best thing is that we as fans are what keep Sailor Moon alive. Even when she disappeared for so long we kept her alive with fan vids, cosplay, art and everything else. I hope and while I can't control what they decide in the end... whatever they decide won't make me stop liking Sailor Moon.

I think we will get something in due time. It's still pretty early in the year anyways.

I hope so, I have a feeling that (though I hope I'm wrong), after Sailor Moon Crystal Seasons 1-2, those nonsensical, ridiculous, godawful anime, I'm worried the general public saw Sailor Moon as a joke....but I hope I'm wrong in that regard.

I don't think they say it as a joke...What I think happened is that most of us got (warning, made up word alert) Moonie Whiplash...it was a long wait and we were hopeless and then bam...we got hit with the news. We were for sure that this would be the SAILOR MOON we had been waiting for and sadly it was rushed. That's not to say some things about it weren't enjoyable...we just had high expectations and those expectations were fuled by many who saw that key visual and thought...This is the entire anime before my eyes..but it wasn't.

Crystal was more of a disappointment because of how it was poorly handled.

Some postive things to note:

A few of the scenes in Crystal were animated beautifully.

They were spot on with the personalities.

They finally gave us manga attacks that look nice.

Where I think they messed up at:

The director and the scheduling seem to be a bit to be desired. I could blame the writer too but everything is at the approval of the director.

I don't think the original one was prepared for a shows such as Sailor Moon, poor guy. And the scheduling was atrocious. You don't make fans wait 20+ years and give us two episodes a month. Man, I'm sorry Moon fam but I hated that with a passion. I dont think I'll ever let that slide for any other anime.

I think a lot of folks were just let down but there are some things about the show that are redeemable, so it's not a COMPLETE let down.

Honestly though I find the story finished, complete and I don't need sequel to it. The characters have been through a lot of stuff and I don't see a sequel in a distant future following Chibi Usa as needed, and honestly I doubt it can bring anything new to the table. For me Stars arc was not really needed, felt forced and very tired. I rather have a continuation or reboot of Toki Meka or a completely new title of Naoko. I doubt she will ever do something new both Sailor Moon related or non-related though. I wish Crystal expanded the lore of the manga, wrapping some lose ends, providing further exploration as the manga provides a solid fondation for something quite good with a more serious tone, more coherent and deep story as some elements can rival the likes of Madoka if done a different and expandig way. But none of this happened. Overall I am happy with the endings of both old anie and manga and I don't want to see something done by a different artist either, especially with the current shoujo trends in mind...
