Yeah I'm very happy with this release, even though I echo some of the nitpicks like the weird grayscale used for the Dark Kingdom and the white backgrounds.

Also, how REFRESHING was it to have them just announce this unexpectedly and then get it literally a few days later? Who knows when Volume 3 will be released (hopefully soon), but it's nice we didn't get an announcement followed by a long delay like with almost everything else with this franchise.

As I have said before, I wish we can have this edition of the manga in a Voiced Animated Form similar to this:

and this

Power Rangers related but something similar

and this Street Figter related one

^ That'd be Takeuchi's next move after this colored manga.
It should sold black and white first. Then they make another edition with colors after about a year or 2 right before the release of the Stars Eternal movie in 2025.

The white backgrounds actually made me realize how much Naoko point blank refuses to draw scenery for so many of her panels lol
It was the Eternal Editions that made it leap out at me. Huge, huge books with characters floating in white blank panels lol. When they're so big you can't not notice all the blank space.
And I grew up reading Inuyasha and Clamp works, and those all have full backgrounds. Clamp has full backgrounds almost to a fault lol. The only time they have sparse panels is for a specific purpose, and I always found it effective. Kind of like how silence can be more effective than sound at the right moments.

Often when Sailor Moon does have something filling the panel it's like a "screentone" of a block of text or bubbles, not the room they're in etc.

Still love the manga and her art style, but that is a definite criticism I have for it. Some blank panels I wouldn't bat an eye at it, but when you have moments like "oh look, an actual background" then you know the panels are blank too often lol.

I’ve always admired that about her work. She relays heavily on screen tones, and negative space, but she makes it work! As a comic artist who hates drawing backgrounds and scenery, I totally get it haha

If she's wearing a sweater over her school uniform shirt, shouldn't the bow be covered? Unless it's a removable bow or it's attached to the collar instead of the actual blouse?
I’m pretty sure she has the sweater fitted under the collar and bow. I don’t have the manga off hand, but I’m pretty sure there’s a shot you can see it’s definitely a sweater.

I see it now: it's a V-neck sweater, you're right.

That does make me wonder though: 1) Why does she never wear that sweater again? and 2) Is it okay for her to wear a sweater over her school blouse? Aren't Japanese schools notoriously strict about uniforms? We see that teacher give Mako a hard time about her hair and uniform (and I think wearing earrings too?). I guess Naru's allowed to wear her giant hair bows, so maybe Juuban Junior High isn't that strict with their dress code?

I think the sweater, worn in the cooler weather, is itself a component of the uniform. :)

:ami: looks just so ador(k)able! ::love:: I might use that frame as an Avatar somewhere :keke:

Omg. I would love a poster of that rose pic on my wall. It's so beautiful.
@Neo Moonlight Well, you always could have it enlarged and made a poster out of it in your local Copyshop, couldn't you?

@DREWdesu Now I can lay back and sleep peacefully (and dream) tonight. :) And yes, most people pretend to "forget" that this series existed on purpose. :mischief:
