Lol, so good! They look young but so determined, and the cats are so cute. Helios look great. So these were released as some merch? I guess we can expect a trailer soon. They are definetly sticking to the manga, Chibi Usa in Mamo-chans' pjs and the frame with the Trio. Just like in the manga. Pegasus looks bigger here, hope the teaser footage got fixed.

Somehow the senshi look even more moe here. I'm sad about how Jupiter's ponytail, lol. It's so much shorter from when she was flipping it in S1. It's nice to see new stills regardless, though, finally something fresh beyond concept art. The cats look SO much better.

The speech is definetly done by one animator for all of them. The rest of the stills looks quite good though. Also Luna looks hundreds time better with blue eyes.

They changed many things after 3 seasons, and Luna's eye color is just one of them. :loltext:
To be fair they changed just as much between Crystal and Season 3...Also I never got it why Crystal made Luna's eyes red. More 90s pandering. Yet the season that tries the hardest with it changed it to how it should have been. I really find the overall Eternal style much better than season 3 at least, but... Yukie was Yukie. I cannot wait to see Iwata's take on these designs as long as she works on the film, of course. Plus it is a Crystal tradition of these speech scenes to look weird or kind a off. But oh even Chibi Usa hair is down. We might finally see Usagi without odango as well. Last time it happened was in s 1 one.

My only grape is the sloppy hair. While I appreciate the fact the bubbles are gone, the hair is done in a very sloppy way. I guess with each new season the hair suffers more and more. But it is still not a big issue.

I have to say this looks all very simple, especially in combination with the thin lines, it looks totally like a kid's show, so I wonder how kid-friendly the movies will be in the end. I'm gonna accept it for what it is and I will probably enjoy it, because it's Sailor Moon. I wish the movies big success, so we'll get the Stars project with a higher budget. And I hope, it will look different and again more like S1/2, but better executed. Maybe we can expect an announcement in June 2021.

I feel you in a way. Yes they look young but it also looks pretty. Also there are so many references to the manga that I am sure they will stick close to it. The style was not was I hoped for but I still find it much fitting to Sailor Moon compared to Season 3. Also while the speech frames can be better the rest looks so cool. That scene with Chibi Usa and Pegasus really gives me manga feel. I cannot wait to see these in movement.

While I don't hate the designs, those images are a bit disappointing considering they belong to the speeches. Venus looks the best, Jupiter is OK but can we talk about Mars and Mercury? Mars is my favourite but I see something off in her face, maybe her eyes being too separated?? And Mercury looks the worst. Way too round, Masahiro Ando style, she also suffers from massive eyes separation.
It's also a pity the lack of detail on the hair, even on important scenes like these. The quantity of locks of hairs is minimal and so is the highlights.

I think they look interesting. It's always hard to find a balance with Sailor Moon when it comes to their appearance it seems. I think they fit their age and the only reason I would think they look d strange is because the 90s, manga and first two seasons of Crystal made them look older. The best shot is of the Trio of course, then the cats which all look so cute. When they say new stills from the movie I take it all these shots are from the first film and if that's the case I am under the impression that Venus will indeed be able to transform and will perform her Wink Chain Sword in the first movie and not the second?

It has nothing to do with being kid friendly. Even with a higher budget, the designs will most likely still look simple because anime has consistently trended towards that type of design since the 2010's.

This is what Spring 2020 Anime's lineup mostly looked like:

This is really not my thing...

I agree with @GuerreroLuna that they look like a mix between Kazuko Tadano and Masahiro Ando but I don't agree with @Star Angel Haruki that they look like 15. To me they look like 9 year old girls heads on top of a barbie doll. I do think, Mercury looks best, at least her body is well designed and the shading makes it look very threedimensional. I like the Trio though. And Helios.

It probably looks that way because of the still shots. They will probably look better in motion and with full frames to see their entire bodies. One thing I've learned from these threads and pictures is that the slightest of tweaks or omission can make things look strange/different from the final product.

Tbh, I'm more annoyed that we'll have to sit through the same stock footage for their introductions yet again. It made sense when Crystal was a TV series since they had to pad the runtime, but this is a film and it's a waste of runtime...

But it's also becoming clear that this is just a TV production that's being shown on the big screen. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut up the film into episodes and showed them on TV at some point.

Well, this is Sailor Moon. I think it's inevitable to have to hear those speeches at least once during the movie, and Sailor Moon's (and Chibi Moon's) more than once. To be honest if they follow the manga they won't have much oportunities to say the speeches more than once, but it's part of Sailor Moon, specially of the anime version.

On a positive note:
-The scene with Chibiusa and Pegasus is so pretty and exactly what I'd hope from the film visually when I heard Naoko was supervising. The colors and vibe looks straight out of an artwork from the manga.
-The Moon Cats look like cats! A low bar, but when you consider how they were drawn Seasons 1-3...
-Luna looks great with blue eyes.
-The scene with the Amazon Trio looks great, and isn't an exact copy of a manga panel, so there's hope for some originality!

But in the '90s anime, they only one we had to sit through was Sailor Moon's and Sailor Chibi Moon's, with the other girls maybe once in a while introducing themselves. It's Crystal that decided to give everyone these constant elaborate speeches that have looked weird since Season 1...
