What do you think about W.I.T.C.H. and Winx Club and how would you say they compare to SM?

Which do you prefer? Which would you say is a better show regardless of which you like more personally? Similarities and differences between them (themes, level of maturity, major tropes...anything really)?

There also was this short-lived "Princess Starla & the Crystal Savers" (Dunno the exact English title) thing which was partially hyped as 'the next Sailormoon'... :wtf: *facepalms* OMG, how wrong they were. It looked more like some kind of fusion between "Saban Moon" and "He-Man/She-Ra"...

UPDATE: @Salingue54 Now in exactly what Universe did I write this in French? :?

I've been watching Winx Club since its debut in 2004 (I'm from Italy) and I find the show quite enjoyable even now (although sometimes silly or akwardly girly with all those sort of cute pets/creatures). The characters I like there are Knut (I like ogres) and the Trix.
I also remember reading some W.I.T.C.H. comics. Not bad. But I can't say much since I'm not that familiar with it.
I think both of them take some inspiration from Sailor Moon, and even though they're more suitable for kids, they can be perfectly enjoyable by adults too if you're into cartoons and comics.

Personally, between the two Italian works I prefer W.I.T.C.H. in its comic book form, at least until the end of the "Teach 2B W.I.T.C.H." story arc. After that, however, it became too focused on selling, possibly to younger girls, completely lacking overarching villains and missing multiple chances (I'm particularly irritated when the final story arc didn't bring back Orube in spite of the perfect chance to do so).

Are they better or worse than Tokyo mew mew or Wedding Peach?
The first 4 seasons of Winx are definitely better than TMM.
What's interesting about them is that 4kids made unfinished dubs of both shows.
And yes, there's definitely influence of SM. The Winx creator already stated he made the show in order to fill the gap SM's enourmous success left in Italy.

I saw the first couple of seasons of Winx ages ago and loved it. Looking back, it's not as great as I remember it (the characters can get annoying sometimes) but it's still something I can enjoy. Not really a fan of the later seasons' costume designs, they seem overcomplicated and cluttered to me.

I haven't read or watched W.I.T.C.H., but the art style is really nice. Personally though, I prefer Barbucci and Canepa's adult series.

W. I. T. C.H has a terrible animated show, but great comics and novels to a certain point after which it kind of lost the focus. It really has somewhat more of a Sailor Moon feeling than Winx. The characters are good, some of the villains are great. I can actually say to comics starts just as good as Sailor Moon and for the first two arcs maintains a great quality.

I've heard Disney meddled a lot with the management of the series, which might explain that. Barbucci and Canepa sued Disney in an attempt to regain rights to the series but failed. Supposedly the characters in their very adult comic Skydoll having animal tails and noses is meant as a middle finger to Mickey Mouse, though I don't think that's ever been confirmed as 100% true.

Winx Club and W.I.T.C.H are both very good series in my opinion. Even though the two shows are both are inspired by Sailor Moon, they're still their own series with their own stories. I remember watching Winx Club and W.I.T.C.H on TV back then while knowing that they were the two most popular Magical Girl cartoons back in the 2000s.

I was not in the right target audience for either of those shows. By the time those shows came out I was around 12 and about the kids show I watched anymore was Teen Titans

It could be remade as an anime, since there is a manga ver. already.
