If Crystal Act 28 was the first ever episode you saw, you'd think they lived together. They sure are close. I wonder if Endymion and Serenity were engaged/secretly married. They have the easy intimacy of a long-time couple. I think I heard some speculation that it was the equivalent of a summer romance that ended in an exceptionally poor way, but it looks more intense than that from Usagi and Mamoru's current relationship.

Oh, Act 9 of Crystal is the definitive act when it comes to the portrayal of the intensity of Usagi and Mamoru’ relationship. When Beryl and Kunzite disappear with Mamoru, Usagi—as Princess Serenity—starts crying and shouts “Mamo-chaaaan.” It’s a heartbreaking scene, frightful, and so sad. It gives me chills whenever I watch it. But answering your question, no, Usagi and Mamoru only become an officially married couple in the final arc, Stars.

BTW, is it normal for a 15 year old girl to spend the night at her bf's? (I don't know since I lived a rather hermit like existence as a teenager thanks to the fact that most people in my Godforsaken city are divided between "stuck-up" and "meth addicts.") (I'm not really kidding, the public school's sucked so I was home schooled so I'm not sure what counts as normal with teen dating.)

If Usagi were my teenager daughter, I would NOT let her spend time alone or sleep with her boyfriend—but it is anime, not real life.
"Hey Mom, Chibiusa, my daughter from the future, wants to visit her dad, my boyfriend, the reincarnation of my lover in a previous life and rightful King of Earth." Yeah...I'd love to see that in a cut scene.

If my sisters and their friends are anything to go by, it is normal but they are lying their little heads off to their mothers about it

One thing I always hated is that in sailor moon is Rei's "relationship" with Mamoru like wtf he's not her lover through the manga . Why couldn't Toei animation just keep her an aro?

an article about it : Everything WRONG with Rei X Mamoru
Personally, I found Rei and Mamoru interesting (especially in a funny way). I know it wasn’t handled very well, but it was just added in there for a little bit of angst and drama. The amount of times people complain about the little bit of romantic drama the show gets makes it seem like no one can handle drama anymore :P

Yes, I know people complain about it because it was “unnecessary”, but at the same time, it could have been enjoyable for those who want to see something different had it been written better. Besides, I have a feeling people would still complain about Rei and Mamoru even if it was better written.

very reasonable but I do have issue with removing one of the only aro characters in sailor moon.

I understand that, but that’s what some believe to be present in the manga, Crystal, and PGSM. That’s three representations of Rei being what some may interpret as aro, or according to some, a lesbian depending on the version. It wouldn’t be fun to have different versions of the story and absolutely everything remains exactly the same.

Except Rei is not ace/aro in the manga either. It's crazy how much people misread the manga and then claim their headcanon is canon somehow.
For some, it’s because they want representation. However, I think some (if not most) of the ones that complain about changing Rei’s personality and making her go on “dates” with Mamoru just don’t want anyone to try to date (like Rei tried to) Mamoru before Usagi. It seems like they can’t handle or don’t want the Romantic False Lead trope and want it to be a straight and clear pathway for Usagi and Mamoru.

Rei is definitely not an Aro, she point blank fell in love with Kaidou, plus there’s her suspicious relationship with Minako as well. She herself even says it in the Casablanca side-story, she tries to keep herself from falling in love because she knows her love would be too all consuming and possessive of the other person.

If you’re looking for Aro SM characters, the closest ones are Jadeite, Rubeus and Pluto in the 90’s anime and maybe Saphir in the manga.

Heck even Manga Venus makes more sense as Aro than Manga Rei, considering in Sailor V she outright admits that despite having “5000 first loves” she was never serious about any one of them and will always choose duty over love.
