Another issue is that TOEI does not care about Sailor Moon and its fans and the people who care about it such as Naoko and the team, they only cared about the money that it will make.

Guys let’s not derail the thread here. It’s pretty clear it’s a Crystal continuation 1:1 of the Dream arc with some 90’s nostalgia thrown in their for the OG fans.

Anyway, @SailorSugababe there’s submarine reflection but is is almost a season 3 trace. There might have been a couple of new frames in it. No Chronos Typhoon. There was a retrace of Space Sword Blaster, too. Saturn’s attacks are all real time. The barrier she uses appears as she holds up her flavor. Then she jumps into the air and uses her offensive attack in aerial mode.

@Seira Hazuki no, I don’t remember that happening. I think what happened was that the inners (Mars and Venus maybe?) used their part 1 stock footage attacks to break it. So Jups gets sidelined again.. although she does use Oak Evolution again at some point during the movie, I just don’t remember where exactly. Yes, Hotaru summons Pegasus and Chibi Usa while playing the violin, that was definitely kept.

Attacks like World Shaking and Dead Scream (mostly the former) had brand new choreography and looked great. The faces however were off model during a lot of the attack so they looked a little worse than they should’ve.

“Sailor Moon” is a business like any other business. It started as a business to sell toys. Why would it be different now?

You gotta make a profit and have a free cash flow to keep any project functioning.

I don’t think it’s fair to say no one cared about it. But yes obviously the Toei higher ups only care about the money. This is capitalism after all.
Naoko and others involved cared very much about it, artistically.

Naoko wrote that she very much wanted to be part of the S movie and that she would love to see her manga—and by that she meant the story she was crafting—animated.

Read her notes, ”Princess Kaguya“ story.

But nobody works for free, you need money to keep any project running.

That is what TOEI already said it can be considered as an alternate sequel to the 3 first arcs of the 90s.
Actually Toei has never said this.

This is a missinterpretation when they released the first 3 seasons of the 90's anime on youtube that they said something like: Watch the first 3 seasons of the classic anime so you are up to watch the Eternal Movies where it covers the following Dream arc. Some people took this as a translation that Eternal was the direct continuation of Sailor Moon S.

This doesnt mean that they have officially erased SuperS and Stars from the 90's timeline and replaced it with Eternal. It doesn't make any sense.

Yes, kind off.
I actually remember that they are releasing the 4th arc of Crystal as a series of movies because they wanted to avoid a repeat happened in Super S since it was the 4th season and the number 4 is considered a negative number in East Asian cultures, basically a gesture that they will do their best to avoid the issues of the 90s anime.

Even so, the manga story of Kakuya is still very different somehow than the movie. We’re far away from the strict manga adaptation of Crystal or Eternal.

Lol, nobody would put that sort of money to make ps 5 sailor moon game. It would be a very risky venture and most likely unsuccessful one.
Lol.. To be fair, they did that with PGSM and Crystal S1-2. If the game is done right it could work but it has to be done right. We need a new Sailor Moon beat em up. They did one for Streets of Rage. Lets get a Sailor Moon one!
