I think hiring a new director risks having someone who isn’t familiar with the franchise and you’ll still get an anime adaptation that 100% follows the manga but with zero charm or reverence for what came before it.
I’d prefer Kon to come back. I’m not a fan of all of her choices, but I love how she conveys the manga’s comedy and things like Eternal Sailor Moon’s transformation being a beautiful hybrid of the manga and ‘90s anime is so unique.
