But to answer- I’m assuming the rights reverted to Toei. I believe it was Charlene from Viz who had confirmed that the material exists, it’s just not complete or in releasable condition. I can’t remember the exact phrasing she used but it was in 2014 when they were...
Kinda surprising to see Naoko autographing/ drawing for a Western artist. I wonder how that interaction got set up.. if Billie’s agents reached out through the talk show or whatnot.
There’s a few other very high profile American Sailor Moon fans too. Lizzo, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton.. I...
Regarding the US merch, that’s incorrect. Brands such as Great Eastern and Just Funky produces plenty of US based Sailor Moon merch. Then there’s other brands like Monogram Direct, Color Pop, Figpin etc that have released Sailor Moon lines of merchandise for the US. Not to mention the seasonal...
The colors look so much better. It seems they are using the same bluray upscale as their base though… but that’s probably the only material Toei is sending out nowadays. Hopefully the heavy ghosting is just for the trailer and not in the actual episode (same with the 16:9 cropping.)
For what it’s worth, Netflix has never had any special exclusive to Crystal. The US Netflix doesn’t even offer the Bluray version of Crystal, just the web one. It’s also simultaneously streaming on Hulu (they actually have the bluray version) and Pluto and Crunchyroll. So I wouldn’t see that as...
Matching the original cel colors and matching the original color grading are 2 different things. It’s not going to be accurate if you’re just going by the cels.
Is the silver crystal Usagi’s star seed or did it just eventually merge with it? If it’s her star seed, then how was it in Queen Serenity’s possession when they were both alive? And how did Usagi remove it and use it for the first three arcs?
This really isn’t any indication towards Netflix or Viz licensing the movie. Merch licensing is handled separately. There was a Cosmos pop up in Taiwan this past summer as a good example. Remember how GE licensed Sailor Moon merch in the US starting in 2011? The actual series was still not...
I think that most viewers will still tune in to Netflix even if thats the case. The hardcore fans, like those who are on here and in fb groups etc, will probably try to download a subbed version first because they can’t wait but are probably just as likely to want to support the show if it hits...
Most of the fans buying / streaming the eventual US release will probably show up anyway. The dvd coming out first in Japan isn’t going to hurt the sales like y’all think.
People still showed out to theaters to watch the Classic movies despite them being available for a years. Fans still showed...
We’ve gotten so spoiled with the way that Viz handled Crystal’s release that we forget anime movie licenses can take months or even years to get stateside.
We were lucky Netflix nabbed Eternal so fast but it had also been in production for a while due to Covid. There’s also the possibility that...
I wouldn’t read into them adding Crystal. For one, it’s obvious they only added Crystal so that viewers wouldn’t be lost watching Eternal. They didn’t even bother to license the Blu Ray versions- just the web ones. They also didn’t attempt to add any foreign dubs other than the English one.
