    Framing a cel-- advice?

^ I suppose. Scanning a cel when it first arrives is good for two different reasons. If you want to insure your collection with your insurance provider, it gives you an electronic record that an insurer can easily access. It also allows you to monitor its condition, so, when you do check your...

New anime announced at 20th Anniversary event

Animation being what it is, they will probably rush it. Or, what will happen is that they'll release an episode with shoddy animation, and then, for the DVD, it'll be replaced with better quality animation. It seems to be more common in series now. I really wish there were more sites out...

    Framing a cel-- advice?

I wouldn't say really delicate, but can damage easy. The paint is acrylic, and a cel is made of acetate. The whole thing is a chemical reaction. Even though the paint dried on the sheet log ago, it's still reacting with it. That's why you have to leave a slit in a bag you use for a cel - so...

    Framing a cel-- advice?

Not sure how much help I'll be. I don't frame. I'd rather scan it, post it on my website and view it, instead of worrying that I'm causing major damage to the cel. From the threads I've read on anime-beta.com, which is where a good amount of anime cel collectors post, it's best to do...

New anime announced at 20th Anniversary event

No, retread what you originally wrote. Your statement made a general assumption that all artwork used for merchandise is done by sub par artists. What I said to you is that that's usually not the case, as most hanken artwork is done by very talented artists provided the product is not being...

New anime announced at 20th Anniversary event

No, it's not. Commercial artwork is known as "hanken" artwork. Hankens tend to be some of the priciest artwork out there because they're *usually* drawn better than the stuff that airs on TV. Sentai series tend to use cheaper artwork because their fan base consists of younger viewers who...

Does it bother you that Sailor Moon takes long to attack?

Re: Does it bother you that Sailor Moon takes long to attack?? Usagi actually had more frames per attack and transformation sequence than the other senshi. Usagi's "Moon Crystal Power" transformation consisted of 280 frames. The Inners had 170 frames each. Look, the show is called "Sailor...

New anime announced at 20th Anniversary event

I met Kotono at SakuraCon in 2011. She could still do Usagi then as she did when the series was running in Japan.

I like the wider face too. It would be a better blend of anime/manga with that change. Well, wasn't much of a fan of Tadano's Sailor Moon either, so perhaps the character designer will change if there is a season 2. If Japanese fans are pretty vocal about it, things might change.

New anime announced at 20th Anniversary event

Did anyone else run down the stairs this morning, super giddy, and tear into their computer as if they were a child opening up Christmas gifts? Oh...you day that was just me? Sniff. When I saw the initial image, I was worried about the practicality of animating something with that level of...

What if Sailor Moon reached up to 20-30 seasons or even more

Only if she comes back and smacks Usagi upside the head for ignoring her for the last few years. And for just standing by when Nephy was dying.

I'm surprised that nothing has been linked by now. You know how inept studios are with giving unique file names to these things.

Because clearly you've never worked swing shifts.

Manga images you would like to see in the new anime.

Unless it's an Eyecatch (that's an animation term for the bumper image shown before/after the commercial break), I can't see any of these being realistic. The amount of time necessary to create this level of detail would be too costly.

Do you think Naoko feels ashamed of the old anime?

That's a promotional image. Trust me, that level of detail is far too much to animate and would be too costly to do over the length of a season. When the character designer reveals what they'll look like, then we can assess it better.

New anime announced at 20th Anniversary event

No, actually the reverse would be true. They're going to give each Senshi their own transformation sequence simply because that's what Magical Girl shows do. That's stock animation, known in the business as a "bank" sequence (OP and ED sequences are also called "bank" sequences as well)...

    Sailor Moon Animation Question

Cel based animation is kinda complex. It does revolve around the idea of using multiple layers. The problem with using multiple layers, though, is that it causes the overall picture to be darker than just using one layer. So, let's go through your gifs ... The Usagi gif are all separate...

Who animated their transformations and attacks?

The scans are available online. It's in Japanese, so unless you can read that or the kanji characters, reading wise, you're SOL. And no, there is no smut. Totally SFW. http://three-lights.net/gallery/hyper-g ... animations

Who animated their transformations and attacks?

It's probably time that we talk about the animation end of things. First thing's first, though. Animation directors and designers rarely animate. They may make a few key sketches or perhaps draw an important sequence because they like the character, but they don't animate. If they do draw...

I need HUGS...and cookies. Amazon.com is bad for me....

Ah, yes...been there, done that and probably will again. I usually get the screamies over artwork and have been known to completely fangirl over it. The last time I did this was over a commission of Kotetsu from "Tiger and Bunny" that I used to make a spiffy cover for my IPod Touch. I paid...
