Puu, you started the thread one minute before me. If only I could have figured out how to work the poll sooner. My comments:

I stayed up late to watch Act 33 even though it downloaded incredibly slowly. I have to paint my room this weekend so I probably wouldn't have gotten a chance.

It was a pretty good episode. We finally get to see Rei's Papa (he slaps her but seems to regret it afterwards) and Ami's Mama. Mama wants Ami to transfer schools and Ami leaves Mama waiting for her at the end. Rei has flashbacks of when her mother was dying, Papa wasn't even there and her mom seemed to be reaching out for him.

Motoki figuring out Mamoru and Usagi got together was pretty funny. He asked Mamoru why he came back from London and Mamoru didn't give a straight answer, just said various reasons. Then Usagi walks in and says sorry to keep you waiting to Mamoru. And Motoki can't believe it. He's so cute.

All the girls support Usagi and Mamoru. Luna is upset about it. They pretty much ignore her the whole episode. Mio is definitely Beryl. Mamoru text-messages Usagi and she takes the phone and gets upset when she sees it's from him. Then she sees them at this outdoor cafe thing when Usagi gives him the muffler, and gets mad from behind a tree. Then it shows Beryl being mad too.

I can't wait until next week. Rei and Ami are wearing these big animal costumes and having a pillow fight in the karaoke room. Then they fall asleep on the couch.

The Juuban summer uniforms are cute!

This episode was probably the best in terms of drama! :) The part where Rei's dad slaps Rei sent chills down my spine. The first fight scene was pretty surprising with its new jazzy background music which gives Sailor Mars a feel of grace (that would've otherwise best matched with Neptune). :P

I'm sad there wasn't any Minako in this episode. You think she'd be keeping dibs on at least Mio if not UsagiXMamoru. I want my Minako-chan.
Other than that, this was a pretty good episode. I loved the scene with Mamoru and Usagi and Mio watching from afar. She's either Beryl, or some kind of youma acting as Beryl's eyes and ears from the outside world. Looks to me that she can't leave that cave. Makes me wonder. :cthulhu:

Nicely done ep.

First, they’ve deftly gotten the whole “Mamoru returns and gets Usagi’s muffler during the hottest time of the year” scenes out of the way without consuming an entire e. (Sorry, Shibby fans <G>). ^_^

It also allowed the director to show that Mio and Beryl are some how linked – Beryl’s upset when Mio sees U&M together, or when Mio sees Mamoru on Usagi’s cell phone. This is what, the fourth or fifth ep where we’ve been given hints the two are linked? Trust me, in a 50-episode show, that’s a lot of time and build up. Kudos to the script writers for keeping Naru in the picture – someone else is on to the fact Mio is not as sweet as she looks! Hope that’s developed...

In the Dark Kingdom, it looks like Jedite has unrequited hots for Queen B, while Herself is warm for Endy’s form. The other Generals, memories returned, are in opposition to Beryl (So why aren’t they leaving the DK and heading to Mamoru’s side?) while Queen Metaria (sp?) seems to be coming into her own. That’s a lot of information conveyed in less than 5 minutes time. Not a bit of filler here.

The heart of the ep is the parent/child conflict Ami and Rei are facing. I’m glad this wasn’t just swept under the rug with the earlier ep. The girls may have been princesses and Senshi in the Moon Kingdom, but right now, they are Jr. High students. I wonder if the directors wanted to hold this episode until the actresses had more experience – after all, none of them had resumes that suggested serious acting chops.

What *would* happen if say, if Usagi’s dad got a job in the USA working for a tabloid and wanted to move the family there? Inquiring minds want to know. <!G!>

Jokes aside, this ep underscores a central theme of the show – growing up. Both young women are going to have to assert themselves and come to terms with parents who have failed them. Notice that Luna didn’t do a back flip and produce a “Parent Go Away Magic Bracelet” to make this problem go away? The girls are on their own. That’s a big step forward, and the producers are wise to make this a two-part (at least) arc.

After this arc is over, a "Venus joins the team and is healed" arc, and a little more DK infighting, and at least one more “Usagi grows up” episode, I think we will be ready for the final dash to the series conclusion. The elements will all be in place.

A side note: some one should give that turtle an acting credit!

i just find it hilarious that Nephrite is _still_ the pitiful one :D while everyone seemed to remember something of their past lives he is left behind yet again (i guess it can be kinda sad too. well, i haven't seen it completely so that's all i can comment.

EDIT: What's the heck will the 'no choice' poll? oh and smallfry, i like your banner (I like that image of minako-venus too  )

Very awesome and full of Keiko hotness. At the starting when the came saw Ami and Rei I just thought of all those movies where a guy and a girl are in an alley and to try to make an excuse for why they're there they start making out. Well Ami and Rei sort of give each other a look and I was so sure they were gonna start macin' but they didn't. Oh well.

All around a very awesome episode. There are only 3 parents of the 10 we haven't seen yet which is crazy considering in the anime we only saw 2.

I'll give you an OMG smallfry...ahem..."OMIFRIGGINGAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
This episode was the best! It wasn't purely centered on one character this time, although Mako and Minako should have gotten more screen time (Minako didn't even have any!). I got to see Mamo-chanxUsagi moments *melts*. The acting just gets better and better. I think Keiko definitely has a chance to move beyond her idol role once she grows out of it. Although, those flashback scenes when she was a kid watching her mother die were pretty depressing :( And you got to keep in mind that all that I've said was with regard to the fact that I don't understand anything they're saying! If they can do just that much, it'll be even better when I do understand what they're saying. We should petition to get PGSM to be an hour instead of only half of one :x

edit: I forgot to add, where is Rei's summer uniform?!?!?!?!

I was drinking my daily cup of coffee when I saw this episode but had to put it down several times while watching. The new music when Mars fought that rose youma was nice and when Usagi and Mamoru were on their date the music sounded very much like the anime. I was pissed when Mio took Usagi's cell and would have exploded on her if she did that to me.
Rei getting slapped touched my heart big time and Moon, Jupiter and Luna combing to chase to youma away was nice too. It would be cool if the next episode resulted in a new attack for Mercury (the tractor beam was ok but come on) I wonder if their parents are going to find out about their senshi identities they don't really deal with that in any of the previous continuities.
Oh and finally I almost spilt my cup of coffee when Makoto knocked over those bikes too funny.

I actually didn't like this episode. It bordered between mediocre and meh.

The Mamoru/Usagi part was awful with the horrible music and the whole strangling him bit, and the acting between Rei and her Papa seemed so forced. The slap was fairly effective, I'll give it that, but otherwise I can't believe I actually wasted my bandwidth.

I'm not looking forward to a similar episode next week.

Quite frankly Ami has had her fair share of screen time and I tire quickly of Rei. I'm more into the Shin rebellion, the Mio enigma, Venus and her attitude, and Makoto and Motoki.

For some reason seeing Rei get slapped by her father made me cry even though I don't really understand. Does it have anything to do with how her father wasn't there when her mother died? Yeah! And the MamoruxUsagi moments were so cute! He's wearing the scarf when it's almost summer, now that's sweet. And the look on Motoki when he found out, priceless. Makoto knocking over the bikes was... XD

did they not show makoto in the summer uniform? i wonder how they'll get around that since makoto's trademark is that she still wears the uniform from her old school. i still haven't seen the full episode yet so i wouldn't know if she wears it in the last 5 mins or so. yeah, i worry about mako's uniform

wow, Mamoru Chiba, who's the guy in your avatar? :D

I liked this episode a good bit, although a few parts made me laguh when they shouldn't have (the cabbage youma, Mio's GLARE OF DEATH!) The whole parent issue is one I'm glad is being confronted. I'm surprised I was more surprised when Rei's father slapped her... it's a cliche, really.

Am I the only one who could imagine Rei's father saying something like "You're walking around in broad daylight with a girl who has blue hair and a tail! How do you think that's going to reflect on me?"

This was a pretty good episode!

Rei-chan looking hotter than ever! And we see her mother; no wonder Rei-chan herself looks pretty. The way she fought off the youma was interesting because I thought she was sleepwalking, but in fact, she fooled me. The music went pretty well and had a jazzy feel to it, which I enjoyed. And when she returned into civilian form that was awesome.

Mio-chan is getting meaner than ever. Her sinister eyes only seduce me even more somehow, especially when Mamoru and Usagi are playing with the muffler. That was creepy.

The part where Mako-chan crashes into the bicycles was priceless. Priceless.

Sad things between Ami-chan, Rei-chan, and their parents. I have to admit, though, the guy that tried to convince Rei-chan to see his father was pretty funny, especially before Rei-chan ran away.

Damn, Hino-sensei is scary looking. Reminded me of my Latin teacher's brother when we went to Italy. He claimed he was in the "garbage disposal business," when everyone else -- including myself -- thought of the other obvious alternative. Then he slapped my Rei-chan! (I don't know... I'm just saying... I'll get that guy back, I swear!)

The tears fall from there, Rei-chan trying to absolve two problems at once: the youma and her dad. Her mom passing away makes it a trifecta. And then Ami-chan running away from her mom not knowing what to do was also depressing. And then in the next episode Rei-chan is crying a river...

... oh, how I would love to console her so badly!

But there is a brighter side to Rei and Ami's comeuppance, which is a pillow fight! I can't wait to see that! Overall, a dramatic and sad episode this one was, but it was well-written and thought.

He's from a korean boy band named Dong Bang Shin Gi. These boys have so many names. XD He goes by Hero or Young Woong; his real name is Jae Joong though.
