The biggest WTF would have to be the youma. After they all attacked, it stubbled and managed to get all the way outside with the senshi chasing it. A little slow, ladies?
 That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.

I think the funniest part for me was when Venus couldn't transform... reminded me of certain Buffy episode.

Minako: I don't understand. This sort of thing's never happened to me before.
Makoto: Maybe you were nervous.
Minako: I felt all right when I started. Let's try again. VENUS, POWER! Damn it!
Makoto: Maybe you're trying too hard. Doesn't this happen to every senshi?
Minako: Not to me, it doesn't!
Makoto: It's me, isn't it?
Minako: What are you talking about?
Makoto: Well, you were hoping Rei came to the hospital, and I... You didn't want to fight with me. I just happened to be around.
Minako: Piffle!
Makoto: I know I'm not the kind of girl you want to fight with. It's always like, "Ooh, you haven't awakened," or, "Oh, you have to find what's lacking in you."
Minako: Don't be ridiculous. I'd fight with you in a heartbeat.
Makoto: Really?
Minako: Thought about it.
Makoto: When?
Minako: Remember last year, when you came to visit me at the hospital, and you had that winter get up?
Makoto: I never would have guessed. You played the fight-lust kinda cool.
Minako: I hate being obvious. All henshin-y and "make up!" Takes the mystery out.
Makoto: But if you could...
Minako: If I could, yeah.
Makoto: You know, this doesn't make you any less intimidating.
Minako: Don't patronize me.

I'm not going to repeat what's been said...since what EVERYBODY has mentioned just about nailed it spot on with this episode.

Although, if anything else to add, I was extremely angry with Minako's entire attitude. In the world of Sailor Moon, Makoto's death (I think) is totally unecessary, spurred on only through Minako's "mission", and Minako's sense of obligation is sooo narrow, it angers me to no end! She was just the edge needed for Makoto to go "over"...and rrrr! I can't believe how well the PGSM writers have manipulated with my emotions!

Mio's a kitten compared Minako.

Excellent, EXCELLENT episode!

*sigh* I love Neo-Motoki. I love his Makoto... I love Makoto's shoes! (I want Makoto's shoes) I do not love Makoto having to bear-hug-electrocute sentai reject looking youma's possessed by crazy massive amounts of energy that isn't really supposed to take on a physical form and should be limited to just blowing up planets. Also, poor Minako, but really, she should have tried more than twice to transform... In her situation I would have been waving my hands all over shouting "Make up! ...Make UP! Make up! Gahhh, for the love of all that's holy, make up!!!" *shrug* I guess the idol types are trained to remain "cool" in these sorts of stressful situations? At any rate, it was a good episode and did a very thorough job of making my jaw drop and even brought on some tears. Way to go, Motoki, you just had to drop the keychain. >.<

Makoto's death didn't have much of an impact. :( What I mean is, it's not sad enough compared to the anime. No offense. Also, I don't see how Makoto is compared to a little turtle ornament thing. I don't get it. :?

While watching I was thinking about how it'd comment on how cute the Neph scene was where he was shopping for Ami...

Then I got to the end.

I didn't cry because well I tend to not, but my mouth dropped.

Did...did Jupiter just die?

They can push the anime envelope a little farther with the violent death scenes than they can in this show probably. I dunno. For me it was mostly the shock. Like you expect them all to die eventually, but maybe not till the end.

Actually it reminds me more of the later manga where when the senshi are targeted, they get kidnapped or knocked off one by one. There's the round of kidnappings in the Black Moon arc and then the round of killings in the Stars manga. They'll all give up their lives for the cause progressively and then Usagi will master the ginzuishou and baboom the end.

I bet, actually, Rei's death scene will be the most tragic, especially because her acting is so amazing usually and within the story her character has a ton of force and emotion behind it.

Maybe there will be a Rei-Minako death scene a la Haruka-Michiru. That would be very sad, but appropriate for the story.

Anyway. Vavavoom.

Like a lot of you, I'm not *entirely* sure Makoto is dead. However, it Does Not Look Good for Jupiter. The phone charm breaking and Usagi’s reaction are not good signs.

Even if she survives this, my suspicion is that she will have burned out her powers or will somehow be out of commission for most of the remaining eps.

Neat point-when the transformed Senshi were fighting the Metalia-powered Youma, Minako addressed Makoto as “Jupiter.” However, when it looked bad, Minako called out, “Makoto!” Maybe our “leader” is growing a heart? And maybe that's what Minako has to learn?

There are a couple parallel, but intertwined stories throughout this series. The first is growing up, accepting responsibility. The second is teamwork- how all have to come together. The third is learning to follow your heart.

We've all seen Usagi grow this year from a loveable, but slightly ditzy girl to a responsible, not so ditzy young woman. Could the Usagi of the series' beginning hold the Silver Crystal in check the way she's doing it now?

We've seen growth in all (but one!) of the Senshi. Weve had lesson after lesson after lesson on teamwork.

As for following your heart, itss again something all the Senshi (but one!) have learned. Think of Ami deciding she wants to be a doctor, for herself, not because her Mama wants it, and deciding on that future knowing about her past life. That Usagi/Princess Serenity loves Mamoru/Endymion but is enduring the separation for the good of all. Rei has come to a sort of peace with her father, and arguing that it is possible to go on despite/regardless of the past.

Makoto was beginning to see that it was possible to reconcile her past life/being a Senshi and perhaps a future with Motoki. Again, that was a lesson all the Senshi (but one!) were learning. (I dontt think the past life intruding on this life was such a big deal for Ami and Rei in the live action, though it’s touched on in the manga – probably just something the scriptwriters decided to leave out)

So, it looks like there is one prideful Senshi (Has anyone else guessed that's her problem?) who has some big lessons to learn in a hurry. After that, I think we will have the full team together. Then the butt kicking will commence.

And at the end, Usagi (It will be *Usagi,* not the Princess) will have to make a choice. I know it will come down to that.

I'm not sure exactly what the choice will be, but my guess is that she will choose to give her friends back their “normal” lives, even if it means they won't know each other. The series will end as the anime and Manga did at this point – what a great way for the producers to bring the show back in 2-3 years with a new cast!

BWAAAAAAH! I'm so happy I'm in Japan now, and that this is the first I've seen straight off TV.
My host mom and I watched it, and she kinda laughed at first that I like Sailor Moon, but by the end of the episode I could tell she was into it. She was surprised that Aya Sugimoto's in this show and that I knew who she is...
We both feel really bad for Motoki, but love how the Neph-kichi/Ami coupling is coming along. I explained that he's just fresh from being a bad guy and doesn't know what kind of romantic thing to get her once we saw him checking out the horns.
I must say that of all the Sailor Moon episodes, I'm glad I saw this one fresh... And now, your moment of zen:

Turtle Keychain: 500 yen
Horns: 2000 yen
Seeing Neph-kichi checking out those horns for Ami: Priceless

Oh yeah... And Motoko dies... Boo hoo. I guess Motoki's single now. :quagmire:

I remember that episode! Nice "translation!"

I'm guessing we'll get a supers type powerup for minako with Artemis powering up!

Is is just me or was this ep great without Usagi?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Makoto dies! That's so not cool. It's all Minako's fault!!!
I don't like Mio. I really really don't like Mio, but still Makoto dies!
I just loved it when Nephrite picks up the horns, but still Makoto dies!
And Motoki's hair looks really nice and all, but still Makoto dies!
I just can't get over it. I'm going to cry until next act comes out.
Whatever happend to Kunzite? Is he like dead forever, just like Makoto?

Sad episode indeed.

I don't know what to say, except that Minako-chan wouldn't have sacrificed herself for the rest of the senshi. Since it was Metaria who imposed "herself" on the youma, Jupiter's power wouldn't have made that much of a difference. But I bet what she did would have been worth it. I'm just sorry that she had to die like that.

And everyone knew... except Rei-chan. Motoki-kun purchased that turtle because it reminded him of what Mako-chan dressed like in Act 41. When he dropped, I think he somehow knew that the world started crumbling. Usagi-chan knew right away, and I just wanted to frown.

On the brighter side of things, a couple of things were indeed funny:
(a) the Japanese-Jamaican dude
(b) Nephkichi's attempt to purchase some bull horns
(c) Artemis' different facial expressions, and
(d) when Artemis was floating towards the door

This is going to be a melancholy straightaway to end this series, at the rate the producers are going.

Another great episode. I felt especially bad for Usagi the way Ami kept blowing her off. She pretty much spent the entire episode alone.

The giant horns killed me. I'd love to see Ami's face when Neph presents them to her

I thought Mako's crazy attack was well done, although not entirely unexpected. I think it's very possible she's not dead, although I think the story would be stronger if she were.

Mmmph...wow, everyone's freaking out. This episode didn't freak me out that much. :? After last week's...it would have to be something pretty special to freak me out.

Uh, you guys might want to read the spoilers for the next episode at Shingetsu. If you can, that is.
Yeah, guys...you really might. For your own peace of mind. In fact, just so people can relax without being totally spoiled, I shall put a tiny tiny spoiler up that you can read if you like, and then you can all calm down.

Makoto does not die, at least not yet. She's mentioned in the next episode's spoilers as being "injured."
Highlight the text for the spoiler. Trust me, it's not a big one.

Anyways.

I was also hoping to see a sweet ring moment with Neph and Ami but then Neph picked up this uber-odd sword thingy. *sigh* Not the most romantic tool in the shed is he?
He's really not, is he? (No worries, pgsmrocks)

I hope Motoki managed to talk him out of getting those dumb horns and got him to get her one of those rings he was looking at, or something of the like. It would be very sweet and romantic. *daydreams about Nef/Ami*

Overall, this one was okay, but like I said, it would have taken a lot to surpass last week's for me. Makoto and Minako are really not my favorite characters right now, because they're so obsessed with the past life, and because Makoto has been pretty mean to Motoki recently, and that just bothers me.

Which is strange, because Mako was my absolute favorite in the anime. I really feel an affinity with Mew Azama, because we have a lot in common (we're both really tall for girls; we both played badminton [and got made fun of for it], stuff like that), and I know that if I had been in Japan, I would have wanted to try out for that role because she was my favorite in the anime. But I don't know if I would still enjoy playing her now...she does too much stuff that irritates me.

Anyway. Next week's looks okay, because it's an Artemis episode. I hope to see more Nef/Ami, because if there are only five episodes left, they'd better get moving!

This is it... things are getting more and more off-handed eversince PSM appeared... what the heck happened to kiddies' world?

I can't believe everyone's dying in here... oh my gosh... 6 more episodes left right? Are they planning to kill everyone off and have them reborned at the end? That's so totally out of hand... I think I better go get myself some aspirins... I'm feeling dizzy with blood pumped into my brain already.. *faints*

NOT a big one? That spoiler ruined everything for me! I was stupid and thought it was for this episode. Why didn't I read the rest of your post first???? Oh well, I guess I'm happy about it but it ruined my spoiler-freeness and there's no more surprise about that part. Oh well.
