Seriously your habit of blindly overreacting to the fact that other people view the presenation of this new series differently from yourself is really starting to get on my nerves.
I'm starting to grow tired of fans expecting Crystal to be animated like a Disney or Miyazaki movie.

It's an internet release, people. Criticize all you want, the fact of the matter is that the masterpiece some of you were expecting would be way over the budget these guys are working with.

P.S. And FatherOuranos, I'm not a mod or admin or anything... but your tone and attitude is just awful. If you don't like SmallLadySerenity's posts then block him or skip reading his posts. Truth be told, that's what I do with most of yours.

Also I'm pretty sure that Madhouse produced the X anime. I'm a huge fan of the manga, but if people thought that Sailor Moon Crystal animation is jerky and awkward, they really need to watch the anime adaption of X. So yeah, I'm going to stand by my original statement.
I am very intrigued about your thoughts on "X" (in a positive and constructive way, of course).

Madhouse, in my humble opinion, animated "X" beautifully, and "X," visually, is perfect. My thoughts, of course.

Here is the "X" trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwrQmqU8IyM

I'll PM you my opinion later as I don't want to veer to off-topic.

I'll just say that I generally am not that critical about animation, and I can't fault a show if its budget is low -- it's not the animators' fault, it is the company itself. I mean the obvious off-model frames kinda sucked in Act II, yeah. But it's really not something that's going to suck the enjoyment for me. It was just a small portion of the episode, and the rest looked really good. If they fix that stuff for blu ray, I'll be incredibly pleased (and it means I won't be buying the exact same product as what I watched online, so that's a good thing.)

Madoka had a lot of odd moments in the initial broadcast (MEGUCA!) but it was cleaned up for later release, so I expect the same for Crystal. I'm not worried.

let's all calm down and enjoy what we have. even if they don't clean it up, it's still better than not having a reboot at all and honestly, gimpy scenes be damned they could still do so much worse.

To put another thing in perspective - I'm currently watching another anime called Dramatical Murder and its third episode also had similar problems of being off-model, but it was practically every scene instead of just being isolated cases like Crystal. Then Episode 4 comes and the animation was pretty much flawless and completely on model. So I have hopes that Act III will have an improvement as well.

It seems that this thread that is my creation is making people unhappy.

As the creator of the thread, may I request a mod to lock and cauldron it?

I will stop posting here from this point.

Re: Are you disappointed with the designs/animation of Crystal?

Well, I have no problems with the animation in Crystal.

About the designs, I like the designs in general (something curious, since I do not really like the designs in the manga), although at times the faces can be a bit rare.

That's because Haganai and Oreimo are the type of anime that sells. High fan-service, harem based comedy that is driven by the pockets of nerdy shut-in males in Japan ('Otaku'). You might think that kind of anime is terrible next to Sailor Moon, and I'd agree, but those kind of anime have a guarantee that they'll be successful. On the other hand, the last few times Sailor Moon was on the air, it didn't do so well. Ratings plummeted for SuperS and Sailor Stars, and the Tokusatsu also effectively flopped. This is probably why Toei went with an internet broadcast, which means a smaller budget.

It's fine if you don't like the animation, but if you think that it would have been any different if another network picked up Sailor Moon Crystal, then you're wrong. Most shoujo anime do not have the budgets you are dreaming of because, again, the majority of the anime industry panders towards the Otaku male. If you're going to blame anything, blame the way the anime industry works because it pretty much exclusively caters exclusively to men. That's why you'll see jiggling breasts in almost every other anime.

Honestly though, I think the animation is fine. It's not perfect, but considering the circumstances it's met my expectations. Just because it's digital animation doesn't mean it's a breeze to do, and I wonder if the people who are even saying that have done any animation in the past to be able to comment.
This is true in many respects.

I think the last few times Sailor Moon was on the air have not been very successful, since it seems that merchandise sales have not been very good (the merchandise sales are very important for Toei).

To be fair, there are some animes aimed at female audience who are quite successful (although these stories are not shojo conventional). Some examples: Kuroko no basket, Uta noPrince-sama, Free! (these three have much fanservice for girls), Aikatsu! (although this also seems to be aimed male audiences). Also, there are several animes aimed primarily at a male audience that include fanservice for girls.

I think the most important for the anime industry is that fans buy the merchandise. I guess more animes will be created for female fans if they buy a lot of merchandise (in fact this is already happening).

It's not healthy discussion if you ignore criticism, and just wait for someone to agree with you so you can continue to regurgitate the same bias points over and over again especially if they're hypocritical; but I'll be sure to skip all of your posts from now on. Thanks.

To be honest I think we should stop this thread as we're now making personal attacks on each other and really this sort of debate should be reserved until the end of the series anyway.
