Indeed, that does explain the wings that appear in the Moon Crystal Power transformation. To think, I didn't think the attacks could get any more Engrish.
These proto names make me wonder if they come up with these names because they hadn't been revealed in the manga, or were these actually going to be the attack names for both the anime and the manga until an editor stepped in. I don't know how the production process went, but this suggests there was even less internal communication between Toei and Naoko Takeuchi than I previously believed.

I always thought it was just some sort of angelic symbolism. Like it was a holy transformation which is why she briefly sprouted angel wings never would have guessed it was a holdover from a swan motif and they were suppose to be swan wings
It is interesting that they all have completely different attack names in the first season from their manga counterparts (well Crescent Beam comes from the Sailor V manga but she used Rolling Heart Vibration as Sailor Venus in the Dark Kingdom arc) makes you wonder how different the anime would have been if it started even a year after the manga debuted and not less than 3 months.

Episode 103: Eudial's gun was originially supposed to shoot out a net that captured the target. [The gun is called the "Black Star Gun" and its ray is called the "Black Beam."] Also, the goldfish scooping booth was originally a shooting gallery. We were supposed to see Chibiusa throughout the festival, disguised in a yukata and rabbit mask, causing trouble for Usagi. We'd see Luna-P in a booth selling masks. Later, Luna-P would turn into a firecracker to distract the daimon, then Chibiusa would appear, removing her mask and yukata to reveal Sailor Chibi Moon.
Episode 104: The boy who shows Chibiusa his "elephant" was originally just a boy wearing an elephant hat. We were supposed to see Eudial studying flower arrangement, the tea ceremony, aikido, practicing the shamisen, and reading the Hyakunin Isshu in order to study humans (a.k.a. the enemy). Also, the games the girls play with the daimon were all supposed to be gambling games like slot machines, etc; in the final version, roulette is the only gambling game played.

Episode 121: At the start of the episode, when Tomoe is on the phone with Tellu, Tellu was supposed to be calculating the cost of the Tellun plants. After this, Kaolinite was supposed to bring the professor tea and sweets (not coffee), and she originally was supposed to say (regarding her revival), "I wanted to stay with [the professor] for as long as possible." There was supposed to be a scene in which Tellu sold her plants out of a car. Another cut scene involved Tomoe discovering Hotaru's disappearance and becoming upset. Finally, similar to what happened in Crystal, Tellu was supposed to merge with her Tellun flowers and transform into a monster, then attack with "Mandragora Buster."

When Chibiusa stands before Hotaru's empty house, in addition to the flashback of Kaolinite's abduction of Hotaru, we were also supposed to see flashes of the Messiah of Silence and of a smiling Hotaru.
Episode 123: Chibiusa's nightmare of Hotaru being grabbed by countless hands was originally a vision of Hotaru suffering a seizure seen through a window of the Tomoe family home. When Kaolinite fights Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Pluto, she was originally supposed to launch a test tube attack at them.
Episode 124: Mistress 9 was supposed to monitor the Sailor Soldiers' movements with a "water mirror." According to the scenario, Pluto's final words were, "If you can meet the real Messiah, please give her my regards..." After the helicopter explosion, when Hotaru's voice comes out of Mistress 9 ("Don't use [Chibiusa's] pure heart for bad things"), there was supposed to be a visual of Hotaru in total darkness, naked and holding her knees. Originally, the red gel-like Daimon was supposed to be "ghost-like." Germatoid was not in the scenario; he was added during storyboarding. Apparently, Professor Tomoe was going to split open, revealing he was a possessed puppet.
Episode 125: Originally, Uranus and Neptune were supposed to break free. While Neptune restrained Moon, Uranus attacked Mistress 9, but Moon shook Neptune off her and protected Tomoe and Mistress 9 from Uranus. Mistress 9 then took the Holy Grail from Sailor Moon. (During storyboarding, this was changed to Moon *giving* her the grail.) The scene where Hotaru regains control and dissolves Mistress 9's body was originally supposed to show Hotaru floating in darkness until reaching Chibiusa's pure heart crystal, which shone like a beacon, and carefully holding it in her hands. There was supposed to be a scene where Mamoru grows dizzy due to Pharaoh 90's invasion of the earth. Sailor Saturn was supposed to become "a shining meteor" and penetrate Pharaoh 90/the Tau System in a single blow like a comet. (Not sure if that's literal or just figurative.) After Super Sailor Moon plunges into the dying Tau System to bring back Sailor Saturn, Saturn was to say, "My body is one now with Pharaoh 90's...and my soul is about to disappear... I'm Sailor Saturn... the Soldier of Destruction... I'm glad. Given the situation, it's for the best. Therefore..." (This scene would be repeated at the start of the next episode.)
Episode 126: The doctor who explains Professor Tomoe's condition to Haruka was supposed to be looking at head x-rays, not reading medical records.
Episode 127: The letter Chibiusa receives from NQS was originally addressed to "Chibiusa-chan," not "Small Lady." Instead of an original computer game, Ami's original farewell present for Chibiusa was a CD dictionary. Rei originally mistook Usagi's gift for a raccoon dog, not a dog. In the episode, Mamoru is the one who tells the girls not to go after Usagi and Chibiusa; originally, Rei was the one who told them to let them alone.
S Movie: Naoko originally came up with this story to be used as the plot of the R movie, but due to scheduling conflicts, she had to temporarily shelve the idea.

SuperS TV Special: The framing scenes of the first segment were originally to take place in Usagi's bedroom. (The working title was "Sailor Moon SS Tears Special Part A: New Chapter Complete Edition.)
Episode 132: In the scenario, Usagi was overly enthusiastic over winning a hippo plushy at the arcade. Hawk's Eye and Fish Eye were both supposed to be dressed in normal clothes when they show up to taunt Tiger's Eye. Rather than being suffocated, Sailor Moon was supposed to be attacked by the Lemures's "flame breath." According to the scenario, the tie Saori gives Kobayashi at the end was one that Mamoru picked out, and it has a hippo pattern on it.
Episode 134: In the show, Tenko binds Jupiter, Moon, and Chibi Moon together with chains, but originally she was to trap Luna and Diana in a padlocked drum. When Tuxedo Mask arrived to save the day, his line would then be, "Canned goods don't suit beautiful women. Only a slow writer should be canned." The epilog was supposed to be of Mako gifting Tomoko a new fountain pen and manuscript paper.
Episode 135: Tiger's Eye was to disguise himself as a crystal ball-gazer, rather than a palm reader. He was also to wear a fake beard. There was supposed to be a scene where Zirconia severely reprimands him for failing once again.
Episode 136: Phobos and Deimos were supposed to appear. At the start of the episode, when Usagi is jealous of Mamoru and Ami, she was originally supposed to scrawl "Mamoru's an Idiot" in her workbook.
Episode 137: In the show, Kitakata's first name is "Kunihiko" according to the dust jacket of his book, but the scenario gave his name as "Giichi." He was originally a beautiful boy (bishonen), not a young man. Much of the episode takes place at a lake in the deepest part of the forest, but originally it was set on the banks of a spring. There was supposed to be a scene of Usagi and Chibiusa looking for Ami and the others in the forest. After Fish Eye attacks Kitakata, Sailor Mars and the others were supposed to arrive to help Kitakata; they would then be entangled in Tsunawatarou's rope attack.
Episode 138: In the show, Natsumi faints after seeing Hawk's Eye, but originally Hawk's Eye used magic to make a tool rack fall on her. Also, when Zircon watches Natsumi earlier in the episode, he was supposed to be hanging upside down from the ceiling like a bat.
Episode 139: The last scene was supposed to have Usagi, Chibiusa, Miharu, and Miharu's mother all falling into a pit and crying for help.

Hawk's Eye and Fish Eye were both supposed to be dressed in normal clothes when they show up to taunt Tiger's Eye. Rather than being suffocated, Sailor Moon was supposed to be attacked by the Lemures's "flame breath." According to the scenario, the tie Saori gives Kobayashi at the end was one that Mamoru picked out, and it has a hippo pattern on it.
Episode 134: In the show, Tenko binds Jupiter, Moon, and Chibi Moon together with chains, but originally she was to trap Luna and Diana in a padlocked drum. When Tuxedo Mask arrived to save the day, his line would then be, "Canned goods don't suit beautiful women. Only a slow writer should be canned." The epilog was supposed to be of Mako gifting Tomoko a new fountain pen and manuscript paper.
Episode 135: Tiger's Eye was to disguise himself as a crystal ball-gazer, rather than a palm reader. He was also to wear a fake beard. There was supposed to be a scene where Zirconia severely reprimands him for failing once again.
Episode 136: Phobos and Deimos were supposed to appear. At the start of the episode, when Usagi is jealous of Mamoru and Ami, she was originally supposed to scrawl "Mamoru's an Idiot" in her workbook.
Episode 137: In the show, Kitakata's first name is "Kunihiko" according to the dust jacket of his book, but the scenario gave his name as "Giichi." He was originally a beautiful boy (bishonen), not a young man. Much of the episode takes place at a lake in the deepest part of the forest, but originally it was set on the banks of a spring. There was supposed to be a scene of Usagi and Chibiusa looking for Ami and the others in the forest. After Fish Eye attacks Kitakata, Sailor Mars and the others were supposed to arrive to help Kitakata; they would then be entangled in Tsunawatarou's rope attack.
Episode 138: In the show, Natsumi faints after seeing Hawk's Eye, but originally Hawk's Eye used magic to make a tool rack fall on her. Also, when Zircon watches Natsumi earlier in the episode, he was supposed to be hanging upside down from the ceiling like a bat.
Episode 139: The last scene was supposed to have Usagi, Chibiusa, Miharu, and Miharu's mother all falling into a pit and crying for help.
Episode 140: The scene where Usui's partner quits was a late addition to the story, which is perhaps why they didn't change the ending and resolve that plot line by having him come back. Usagi was supposed to have snuck into the dress shop through a window when she and Chibiusa discover Fish Eye is attacking Usui. Originally, Gomumario was supposed to stop Moon and Chibi Moon with his glue-like saliva and then attack them with a slingshot.

Chibiusa let him lean against her shoulder, and together they crossed the finish line in a heartwarming moment. Episode 163: The Amazon girls are confined to individual mirrors as a punishment in the show, bur initially they were supposed to be confined in the same mirror. When JunJun asks Chibi Moon why she'd go so far for Pegasus's sake (i.e. run through fire to save him), Chibi Moon was supposed to reply forcefully with, "Don't you know?! Don't you know why?!"
Episode 164: According to the scenario, the opening flashback scene of the Quartet is set on "a certain planet in the Amazon universe." Originally, it was PallaPalla who found the mirror buried in the ground. (In the show, VesVes finds it in a spring.) Episode 166: Usagi (as Princess Serenity) was supposed to become Eternal Sailor Moon thanks to Pegasus and the Golden Crystal. Then she was to run after him, shouting his name. VesVes, watching this happen and feeling sympathy, then created a magical bridge to the sky for Chibiusa to run up, giving her the chance to tell Pegasus her true feelings.

There seems to be one cut scene from episode 159. There's a cel of an inbetween frame, and the genga (original animator's drawings) and corrections of another shot. The fact that there's a cel probably means the scene was finished before getting cut.

Before we move on to Sailor Stars, I wanted to share my thoughts on all the revelations thus far.
Definitely glad they changed this (but why didn't they keep the original episode title???).
I'm glad this was changed since "Moon Power Healing" is blah, but I wonder if all the other little differences in the TV picture books are things from the original scenarios...
I really wish they'd stuck with this version. It would have been so much better. Yes, Mars's moment in the final version is iconic and all, but otherwise this was a much stronger concept.

Wish Kuri and Yumi had appeared. I kind of like "Queen Stick" as an alternate name for the (Cutie) Moon Rod. I like the *idea* of "Moon Swan Flapping Takeoff," and I feel like it may have later inspired Sailor Moon, le Cygne, but god is that a terrible attack name that would have spawned a thousand Rule 34 "Moon Swan Fapping Takeoff" fan art parodies. I'm going to headcanon rename that attack to "Moon Shining Swan Dive."
That sounds like a bad parody of a Sailor V attack phrase.

Between this and Umino's being cut from episode 153, not to mention Kuri and Yumi's being dropped from episode 51 and Phobos and Deimos from 136, I wonder how many other times supporting characters were *supposed* to show up in these later episodes.

I love the Spiral Heart Moon Rod, so I'm glad we got that, but maybe she could have gotten the WME upon becoming Super Sailor Moon? They need to release the art of it. Maybe make it a weapon in a video game (if we ever get another video game).
The least tragic of all the potential attack names so far, but it just drives home how redundant Neptune and Mercury are.

They 1000000% should have given Super Sailor Moon the White Moon Excalibur to compliment the Holy Grail and given her a new attack instead of just redrawing Moon Spiral Heart Attack.

Originally, they were going to re-show the scene of Nehellenia stealing her subjects' dream mirrors and turning them into Lemures, but during storyboarding, they came up with the idea of Nehellenia's lonely girlhood. Like in the TV picture book version, the mirror fragment in Mamoru's eye was supposed to be washed out by his tears. When the Sailors are speaking and sending energy to Usagi, Chibi Moon was originally going to say, "Pegasus said that Dead Moon was created by the darkness in everyone's hearts..." Then, after being healed by Eternal Sailor Moon, Nehellenia, now with the appearance of a pure queen, was to turn to Endymion and say, "I was dreaming. A long, long dream..." (The idea of Nehellenia turning back into a little girl happened during storyboarding.) We were supposed to see Luna, Diana, and Artemis at the end, but that was reduced to simply a voiceover.

Episode 170: Mercury and Uranus were supposed to find themselves in ancient Incan ruins, but this was changed to Greek-style ruins during storyboarding. It seems the real Nehellenia was initially going to attack them.
Episode 171: Usagi was meant to awaken from her hallucination shouting, "There are no roses here!" In response, Nehellenia was to say, "If you want roses that much, I'll give them to you." Thus, the thorns that block the stairs to her palace were meant to be rose thorns.
Episode 172: It was at this point they decided to call the new season "Sailor Stars." Originally, they were going to re-show the scene of Nehellenia stealing her subjects' dream mirrors and turning them into Lemures, but during storyboarding, they came up with the idea of Nehellenia's lonely girlhood. Like in the TV picture book version, the mirror fragment in Mamoru's eye was supposed to be washed out by his tears. When the Sailors are speaking and sending energy to Usagi, Chibi Moon was originally going to say, "Pegasus said that Dead Moon was created by the darkness in everyone's hearts..." Then, after being healed by Eternal Sailor Moon, Nehellenia, now with the appearance of a pure queen, was to turn to Endymion and say, "I was dreaming. A long, long dream..." (The idea of Nehellenia turning back into a little girl happened during storyboarding.) We were supposed to see Luna, Diana, and Artemis at the end, but that was reduced to simply a voiceover.
