If Crysternos had a single art style for its entire duration, would you rather it be something similar to the 90s anime like Eternal or Cosmos [or exactly the same as the art styles in the 90s anime I guess] or something more different like the other seasons attempted in some way.

I was immensely frustrated when Crystal came out.

TOEI released an adaptation of one of my favorite mangas (if not my favorite manga) as a cheap ONA series, produced by TOEI Philippines. ”Now I understand why everybody can stream it for free,” I remember telling myself.

I stopped watching the episodes during the original broadcast and bought Crystal seasons I-III on DVD.

”Okay, I shall give it one more chance.”

Binge-watching the episodes felt, to me, like re-reading the manga again. I stopped caring about the animation and just enjoyed the series as it was.

To this day, I do not understand why TOEI changed the format of the reboot (ONA, TV series, films), but if we are speaking strictly about style, I obviously prefer the style of “Eternal” and “Cosmos.” I am not sure how much the films cost to be made, but they were animated in Japan and they reflect what I expected from the very beginning: nice backgrounds, choreographies, battles, character designs.

I do love Crystal seasons I-III, irrespective of TOEI’s mess. Season II is possibly my favorite season.

Ideally i'd want it to look like the Manga but you need an actual budget for that.
THIS.

That being said, I started liking the art style by the time season III rolled around to the end of Cosmos.

Yukie's designs for Seasons 1 and 2 really are not good, try awful but to be fair, Naoko-sensei's style looks extremely difficult to replicate in anime form. It's like....."it doesn't translate to screen" very well? Or something.

I've been rereading the manga again and I'm just staring at her art like
"..........how do you do this?"

The scene in the bedroom in the end and the wedding - this is how I imagine Sailor Moon looking today, sadly they failed being consistent.

I would like something like that but it would probably cost them a ton to animate an entire season like that and they'd have to invest in something where the proceeds are split. I don't know how much cut they actually get from Sailor Moon but it can't be THAT much to make something like that for an entire season.

The general consensus is that Naoko's style isn't a very long standing friendly style for animators.

It's quite interesting though because I think I have seen anime with odd looks be popular...like Yu-Gi-Oh and Saint Seiya.

I think I found it. If a fan can make this....Toei with their billions....could make it happen. This is the style I want.

It did take 3 years to make the original [although that could be for all sorts of non-specific reasons] Now we just need to convince TOEI to invest billions into Sailor Moon. How much money does Sailor Moon make?

Meh they can afford to give us 10 episode seasons in that style. Esp if they partner with someone like Netflix to share the budget costs

So, are most people in favor of something familiar? It has more votes.

I would definitely want something new or that properly replicated the manga style. HOWEVER
After seeing the quality of season I-II I am afraid Toei would never give it the budget it needs for that, they damaged the chances we'll get something closer to that.
And I imagine the manga style was too difficult to animate. When it was done well, it looked good, never incredible, but really pretty good.
When it was bad it was horrid.

Season III looked better...but I don't think the style fits Sailor Moon.
I think they should have stuck with I and 2 or just from the start went with nostalgia and did the Cosmos style.
Cosmos looks good pretty consistently, but that's because it sticks close to the 90s style which is classic and almost universally loved.

So my vote was something familiar, but I'd say something else entirely is a good option, also.

I would love to see the manga style animated, I don't think it's an impossible feat.
Even with a few details I think they could recreate it, for example from an image like this (not Artemis but v-chan).

The color shades and hair rendering could be similar to the one used for Mermaid Melody.
