......................the phages will have some kind of weird oral related star seed sucking secondary ability?

So instead of VOTDs becoming phages the Animamates actually use undead senshi kind of like the lemures/remless.

Nehelenia in SuperS had an extreme case of Peter Pan syndrome, worse than what the Quartet had (but pretty similar to Akio in Utena.) Lemures being "living corpses because they have no dreams" is probably some kind of social commentary, too. Her redemption arc probably came about because they decided to make her return one big reference to the Snow Queen, which is a pretty different fairy tale than the ones they went off of previously.

But I have no idea if anything in Stars would have been much different at all if Ikuhara stayed. You'd probably need screenwrite Yoji Enokido to stay as well for a serious change. Although simply having Ikuko Itoh stay would have changed the outcome on a visual level for the better~

I think the Neherenia Arc might have NO redemption similar to the Manga and Sailor Stars might have the original plan of Takeuchi with Sailor Galaxia being Sailor Chaos.

He would have handled the season a bit better, but just like SuperS' failure, I don't think his style fit too well with SM as the main director.

R movie and S were good, but after that he seems to focus too much on his own idea/theme and ignored the main characters/plot.

Not sure about the Phages, but I have wondered if he had a different endgame in mind with Nehelenia. Sailor Moon was quite adamant about never losing to her in the SuperS finale, which makes me think he had something other than a redemption arc planned.
Less we forget the villains redeeming themselves as opposed to being destroyed (or redeemed just before they were destroy) actually took over when he became series director: The Four Sisters, Dr. Tomoe, Amazon Trio, and Amazon Quartet.

It seems just as likely Nehelenia would have been redeemed if Ikuhara directed Sailor Stars

I think the best case scenario for Ikuhara is for him to do the Super S movie but not have him as the main director in Sailor Stars.

I wouldn't really count R since he didn't have much involvement due to the R movie: What Were Ikuhara’s Inspirations for the Sailor Moon R Movie? (Part 1)

And S killed more villains than it spared. I imagine the only reason Tomoe was spared was due to being possessed by Germatoid.

Nehellenia was responsible for her own actions, which is why I'm less certain she would've been spared under his direction. (just look at the Xenian Flower, Germatoid, Utena's Akio, etc.) I could be wrong though.

Yeah, he was treating most of the villains with killing them off. Especially in S if they are redeemable the conflict between the Inners and Outers would be pointless.

The ones that were spared/redeemed were few.

Nehellenia was more like a symbol than a character, I think she would remain evil.

So are Sailor Cosmos/Usagi and Sailor Chaos/Galaxia as that Naoko's original plan before she went a vague route, I think Ikuhara would execute that best.

Ikuhara does his best when he is allowed creative freedom, which he would absolutely not get if he was involved in Stars. Takeuchi wants her manga adaptated 1:1 about the sorry and the characters so there is no way he would want to be involved in this.
Kon loves the franchise and seems to get along well with Takeuchi and what she wants, as well as was most fans want so I really hope she stays for the last arc.

During the time when Stars was made Takeuchi changed the direction of the Manga in the second half, her original idea for Galaxia was to be a Chaos incarnation in the Manga, it was even said so in the materials collection, so had that plot been included in the anime and no Neherenia being redeemed, she might have not changed that plan.

The problem in Sailor Stars whether Ikuhara is in or not, is in Naoko’s involvement in the Super S movie and her complacency, she got too complacent about Sailor Stars until it was too late.

The main issue with Sailor Stars is that Naoko Takeuchi got too complacent after TOEI made the SuperS movie in which she was involved since both the Dream Arc and Stars were already planned prior to that.

I think Naoko Takeuchi should have never involved herself in the Super S movie and focused on Sailor Stars which adapted the second half of the Dream Arc and the Stars arc, we could have seen the Amazoness Quartet and Elios in Neherenia Arc as well as the Eternal forms of the Senshi in Sailor Stars and we would have Galaxia as Sailor Chaos as she originally planned in both the Manga and the Anime, I don’t think Naoko would have been able to serialize the original planned ending of Stars if it was not adapted to an anime first since it was too dark for Nakayoshi to publish back then.

SuperS obviously says no.
Sorry I was not clear: I was speaking about series he did after Sailormoon ^^
SuperS wasn’t his best but I believe he didn’t get the final word when it was about scenario or what would cover this season. I’m not sure he is the one to blame for SuperS direction (producers maybe ?).

The problem with SuperS is the story.
The lack of it. It still had a lot of cool concept and imagery, but the pacing was way over the place. To be honest pacing issues with the 90s show started during the S season. We had tons of episodes with Kaolinate, Eudial and Mimete, while the rest of the witches were essentially monster of the day. This was the manga way, but was very different from the perfectly evenly splited Classic and R seasons when ut comes to villains. R in particular did a great job with the Black Moon clan, sadly it was a bit spoiled by the Pluto shafting and underwhelming finale. Then Supers suddenly decided they didn't need plot progression till the last 10 episodes at best. Ikuhara is a great director whenever he does something of his own. Utena, Penguin Drum are great and show his craftsmanship. I am sure it is not his fault SuperS failed. It was more likely higher ups that wanted a light-hearted seasin with minimal overall plot that could capture younger audience. I still think some of the SuperS seasons themes went a bit too far and a bit transphobic in a way, making Fish Eye interested in a young boy. And the uncomfortable rape-like dream mirror sequences. Ikuhara's weirdness is alsome, but he went a bit too far there. From me personally Black Moon arc is my favorite 90s season. It was great in developing all the characters. Sure, they dropped the ball near the finale, but so were S, SuperS and stars. The first six episodes of Stars were, however the best episodes in my opinion. They showed what a difference a non monster of the day formula could do. Sadly with the actual Stars season, everything got a downgrade.
