I REALLY hope that's not the case. I think it could easily be for the sake of continuity and having an overall more homogeneous anime than the first one was. Like 1dbad said ^. I mean... I'm one of the people who was expecting the "scene from later on" to be an image of Sailor Cosmos. It's just being treated as a unified story, instead of 5 different stories linked together by having the same cast of characters.

Introducing the girls one after the other doesn't mean much - it just means they want the full first arc cast together faster.

But at this point it's all just theories. We'll have to wait and see.

Well for me the old Moon Prism Power music was the best because well - the chorus actually said her name when she transformed so it made everything seem more like a transformation into a super heroine more magical and fantastic.

This new version, is just okay to me. I really think the orchestra or whoever should have at least thrown in Sera- Seraaa- Muunn! and in my opinion it would have made the theme sound less like something from Suite or Smile Pretty Cure and a little more memorable like something from Sailor Moon. When they were say Baa! baa! ba! I was expecting them to say Seraaa Muun!!

The transformation is okay; just as long as they don't do the full version of it in every episode because...ummmm just no.

I think the manga style is so beautiful when it is in the manga and in the anime but when it gets to the transformation part - with CGI - :eeklez:

I'm surprised no one has said anything about how flat and blurry the BG during her transformation looks...(ya know how it use to be with the pretty gradient shades and bubbles in the background)

Regardless of what anyone says - People are still going to watch the first episode to see how things play out anyway - Im more interested in coming back to the discussion board to get everyone's real opinion after seeing the first episode

I want to see how they will do the Inners transformations and I can't wait to see how Mercury attacks with her Bubble Mirage Mist Attack....

I also like her new stance.

I just hope that people realize the first chapter of almost every incarnation of Sailor Moon has been pretty much the same, so they're not expecting anything wildly different from the Naru attacked by Morga / Jewelry Store plot... You just know people are going to complain that it's the same thing though .

Speaking of Morga, I'm very curious to see what she is going to look like, especially with the new style.

Me too. I was watching the little snippet of the episodes leak right when her odango started alerting her someone was in trouble and then they cut it and I was like dang!!! SO close I was thinking that the scene with Morga is going to be pretty cool and have fighting and that tiara boomerang looks really bad** in the screencap...I'm wondering if Morga got decapitated..

I also wonder how Ami-chan is going debut in her epsidoe ...Laptops at cram school or tablets - So interesting to wonder!

That is a good point! They did say that everything will happen in modern times. I'm still wondering about the arcade...

I sat and really thought about what was really wrong with the new henshin. I think it's the fact that the camera moves in and out too many times and too many close ups.

I'm probably going to get attacked for this, but... I don't mind the transformation. It ain't perfect, but I've seen some really bad CGI in my life, and I'd say it's passable. My only real complaint is that I wish it were just a little more different from the original.

Honestly what I mind most about it isn't the rubbery arms and spaghetti legs, and not even the bad hair movement. What bothers me the most is the so-called "shading". They tried to pull off "shading" directly in the 3D model, and it came out looking like it was animated in 1997. You're gonna use 3D because it give you access to better angles and movement - fine, knock yourself out. But it would've looked so much more natural if they drew over the CGI afterwards and did the shading exactly as they would've shaded any other scene. As in... rotoscoping without the live action footage to rotoscope over. 3D rotoscoping, let's say

It's funny that we're all so "ew" about the transformation though, because the director said he was super proud of it

Heh, had the Toon Makers pilot gotten released, it would have been the first SM thing to deviate from the typical first episode formula since most of its action would have been set in outer space.

I just like to say that Crystal will maybe have "magic" to it. Probably not the same as the '90s anime had, but still. I could sense it being charming and mythical, much like the manga was IMO.

I really like the transformation. Yes, it's not perfect, but neither are the originals (Classic, R, SuperS and Stars all have their faults in my opinion, I only really like S).

I think more people need to give it a chance, watch it in context of the episode and your opinion might change. It may grow on you eventually as more episodes roll out.

I'm sure plenty of fans in Japan were upset in the 90's when they replaced "Moonlight Densetsu" with "Sailor Stars Song". Some folk are resistant to change, but they eventually come around.

The art looks so pretty in Sailor Moon Crystal. The only thing that bugs me is that in the new SM Transformation is a gigantic mess of CGI :c Hopefully the other senshi's transformations will look somewhat better.
