Id like to add in that despite being a magical girl anime, it is probably one of the few anime to chart either way. Granted I just started Netflix but have not seen any other anime in the genre charting or anything. While the Top 10 should be taken with a grain of salt, it is still good the show is charting which mean it has visibility somewhere.

I find it hard to believe it is not popular over here in the U.S. we had folks over here yapping about tuning in cause it is Sailor Moon Eternal Day which should actually be a real holiday if we are being honest.
The problem is everywhere: people are tight-fisted. They ask for things and when it's there, they don't want to pay anything anymore.
Look in France, people are asking for DVD / Blu-Ray boxes, and in the end, there are not really good sales and yet you have likes everywhere and at the checkout, nothing.

By the way it's weird that Kaze said (I think ?) that sales are supposedly bad for Sailormoon DVD in France, because most of the french boxsets are sold out and can't be found cheaply nowadays, so sales weren't that bad I think ? (I mean, the first edition with full seasons, not the 2 half seasons boxes) ?
And if they released those half seasons boxes, I suppose it means it doesn't sell that bad either ?

I think sometimes cause the prices be high as hell. I know in some places or countries the price of Blu-ray must be really expensive and if you include that with the merchandise, it's easy to spend hundreds, maybe even close to high hundreds on this stuff.

I know here, the set I was planning to buy is going to cost past $120 U.S. While this might not be too much for adults, I think it is a bit pricey for younger fans.

I have interest in a lot of the Eternal merch, including the limited Blu-Ray.

Yeah, Sailor Moon was insanely popular in germany during the mid/late 90s. Basically, 70% of the german Internet at that time consisted of fan pages for Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon. I'm not surprised.
That is.... accurate xD

Boxes removed from sales are not sold out. They simply had to withdraw them because the operating deadline had been reached.

I had questioned them about the exhausted boxes, and that's when they told me that the collector boxes were not exhausted but simply the deadline reached.

... but let's celebrate its successes regardless, because it does us no harm to have people remember what they loved about the series or perhaps be introduced to it for the first time.

Personally I feel bad because Toei hit the Jackpot with Netflix. Eternal is good, but the overall quality is not deserving the success on Netflix. It is in my opinion and simple estimate a huge success for Toei in budget/ success revenue when it comes to world-wide success. I wont be surprised surprised if Netflix end up being part of the cometee for Stars.

I’m not sure to understand what you said here. The overall quality of what ? The movies ? I think they re for my part pretty great. Not perfect but far far better than a lot a Sailor Moon episodes or even movies from before.

I’m pretty sure yeah that Netflix will be much more involved in Stars if it’s coming to this… but it means more moneys and Netflix is also known to listen to viewers so… maybe it will even improve the overall quality

The quality is ok, not deserving the success when it comes to effort put. Still for Toei it ends up quite successful because they didn't invest nearly as much as they making out of it. Eternal is objectively the most successful Crystal.

When it comes to literal manga adaptation movie format is better in my opinion. All the Crystal seasons would have been better as movies

Hmmm… I think yeah each end of each arcs could been adapted into movie… but the manga itself is really construct as a monthly series with cliffhanger etc.. so… of course possible but with dropping the biggest problem of Crystal since the beginning : ADAPTING the manga and NOT COPY IT 1:1.

So they still had boxes but weren’t allowed to sell them because of copyright things ? Wow it’s so stupid, particularly when we know they still had rights later and made half boxes seasons.

It's like in Japan, you had the DVD Collection boxes, marketed for 2-4 years, and then withdrawn from the market.

The concern with Kazé France, they never sold all of the collector's boxes.
They say limited to 4,000 examples, for collector's boxes, but basically it's a bluff.
Because for a limited edition to be considered as such: you need a certificate of authenticity indicating the number of copies.
However, in the boxes, there is nothing showing the number of the box, with authenticity (for example box 1200, 1201), there is nothing.

A lot of folks here just don't want an 1:1 adaptation of the manga. When Crystal was a series, a lot of people on this forum were constantly saying that it would be better as movies. Now that they're movies, everyone's saying it would be better as a series again. :googly:

I feel like we need to form a support group for individuals here who are going to be shocked and upset when Stars is also... a 1:1 adaptation.

I cannot believe something exists for 7 years and people are still in denial
