Oh good grief, this announcement has NOTHING to do with the anime. This event is for the manga's new release and is only sponsored by FUNimation because they've had good relations with that Forbidden Planet NYC store. People seriously need to stop jumping the gun so much.
but we like to jump the gun.. :rantipole: :rantipole:
Agreed. :keke: It's fun. :keke:
Is it still fun when your hopes get shattered and crushed each time we expect an anime announcement and don't get one?

No, but it gives hope for the future. :innocent:

It's one thing to have hope. It's another to get carried away with it and let it cloud one's better judgement.

This thread is serving as a back-door news thread to announce Funi's "potential" acquisition of the license, so I am perfectly in my moral rights to comment on the "potential news." If you feel that I am such a horrible person for not writiing "Thank you, Yen-sama. You are awesome," you may feel that way, but you cannot ban me from commenting on your threads that pertain to Sailor Moon in general.
I don't care if you agree with me or not. Hell, I don't care if you post your dissenting opinion. I do care if you insult other fans by making jabs at their intelligence. I may be taking your comment "too seriously", but you're also taking the whole Funimation Potential Redub thing too seriously. If I need to calm down, then you need to too.

Nangbaby said:
What about my attitude irks you, anyway?
Do I really need to answer this?

Nangbaby said:
You don't think that deep down inside, I could be right and you just don't want to admit it?
No. There's your answer. If I did think you were right, I would say it. I'm one of the most outspoken members of this forum and I'm not afraid to post my feelings or opinions, and I don't give a crap when people agree or disagree. I do care about people insulting others for whatever opinions they hold. So if you can't be courteous when responding, maybe you shouldn't respond at all.

I think there's a possibility this might be it. I'm a positive person. I try to get my hopes up for quite a few of these, but at the same time, I know there's a possibility it might lead to nothing. I'm only disappointed for announcements the involve bad stuff I DON'T expect! I don't see anything wrong about getting your hopes up, but at the same time, remembering not to be surprised if nothing comes of it.

I personally want a redub badly since even though I enjoy watching the old one for nostalgia's sake, I know it's not very good. My main problem actually had to do with the ever-changing voices. It was hard to stay connected to characters who's voice kept drastically changing (at least in the Japanese version, Kae sounded like Kotono for her brief stint as Usagi, Tracey, Terri, and Linda all had very different voices for Serena. The difference was pretty jarring).

In regards to Nangbaby: It's not a matter of WHAT you say, but a matter of HOW you say it. You may have valid points, but you say them in a way that comes off negatively and thus people react negatively in return. I am not saying you need to sugar coat and bubble wrap everything but you need to say it more respectfully...i knew someone with ASP who had to be constantly reminded of how he said things...

In regards to the Sailorbration!!! how i WISH i could just drop everything and visit my cousin in NYC...omg....~_~ and so WHAT if we jump the gun!! It makes it fun XD and lets us dream and fantasize...specially in a world where i am stressed a lot over wedding planning...it feels good to have something to make me smile

we wait, we hope, if it happens we cheer, if not.. we wonder when they will announce it
Next possible announcement would be after New Year's when FUNimation announces their acquired titles for the year

Can't they still announce it at New York Anime Fest this October if they don't announce it next week? FUNi usually doesn't announce anything important for their New Years Roll Out. I don't even think they had one this year.
NYAF/NYCC isnt a very large convention, so I doubt it. They roll the big guns out for Comic-Con International, AnimeExpo, and Otakon

Don't forget that they are going to Anime Weekend Atlanta, at the end of this month...followed by Comic Con New York in October. Those are the places where they'll most likely announce it...only hope, though.

I just saw this posted on Twitter today. I've got Saturday off so I'm gonna grab the first non peek LIRR train and head on out there. Not sure if anybody wants to meet up at Penn Station and walk there. I'm terrible with directions so even though its a 20 minute walk I'm taking a taxi so I make sure I get there. Depending on what time this ends I might head over to my friend's skate shop where he's got four pinball machines. So look for me, I'm the older guy that shouldn't be there.

As far as Funi having an announcement on getting the dub rights? You'd really think they'd announce something like that at an independent comic book shop in New York City? They'd be better off at New York Comic Con, Otakon, SGDC or Anime Expo. Also, I'm pretty sure the Jacob K. Javits Center is larger then the Baltimore Convention Center. They've really upped the anti trying to get as big as the SGDC. First time I tried to go to the NYCC they sold out of passes and they didn't get the whole center. When I went last year they had the whole thing so the thing was insanely crowded. The best thing they did was combine both New York Comic Con with the New York Anime Fest and just make one huge convention. I went to the last Anime Fest and it was terrible. They didn't get a large section of the convention center and the programming, guests and vendors just weren't that good. I don't think I've ever gone to a convention and never spent any money in the dealers room. The biggest problem now is that the convention is TOO BIG and programs overlap on other things you'll want to see. I'm glad they've bumped it to a four day show now. They really need that extra day, because you can get lost in the vendors section and artist ally.

Hey everyone, I just got home from Forbidden Planet and asked a few questions. The employees said that Funimation is handling for the most part and that they don't have many details but expect trivia and some giveaways. Also they had the playing cards from GE in stock and have already ordered the keychains. I bought a deck of the cards and realized that a lot of the images use are the same as the ones from the CCG released in Japan several years ago. Tomorrow Kinokuniya bookstore at Bryant Park claims to be giving out something for the first few people to purchase the manga. We suspect that it may be a poster or something like that.

I will be at Forbidden Planet by 10 AM on Saturday. See you there Moon Jump!

Handling "the event", right? Not handling "a redub of the anime", correct?

So why would Funimation handle an event for a series they supposedly aren't vested in, HMMMM!?
It's not the series, it's the store. They've had good relations with Forbidden Planet and have seemingly sponsored events held there before.
