Why was assigning a Sailor Guardian to each of your circle of friends such a thing anyway? There's a Sailor Moon podcast I listen to and all the hosts said the same thing happened with their circle of friends.
Yes, I've heard of other Sailor Moon fans doing the same with their groups of friends as well.

It kind of reminds me of when I was younger (around eight or so); my friend (the aforementioned "Sailor Chibi Moon") and I were into Power Rangers. She had discovered the show first through her older brothers and then introduced it to me. Her favorite was the Pink Ranger, and therefore she'd "claimed" that character already. Initially, I was okay with assuming the Yellow Ranger as a favorite character and as the character I'd play when we played together. (This pretty much consisted of play fights in my backyard.) But after I watched the series for a bit, I found that while I admired Trini (the Yellow Ranger), I identified much more with Kimberly (the Pink Ranger). This created a dilemma because I was no longer willing to be designated the Yellow Ranger all the time, and she wasn't willing to share the Pink Ranger. We were no longer able to play that game. lol

Although we no longer played make believe games at the age that my friends and I got into Sailor Moon, it was kind of the same thing. I guess there's something fun about being able to "claim" a favorite fictional character to yourself and have others identify you with that character. Maybe for some people, it is like assuming that character as a part of their identity? Certainly I think I've been like that to some degree with Michiru/Sailor Neptune, and others I've known have done that with other fictional characters.

It's kind of strange, but I think it's something that a lot of people do innately.
I grew up on Power Rangers as well and to me it was the opposite Trini was by far my favorite character. I absolutely idolized her on the show and I was really angry when she. Left as for Sailor Moon my favorite character has always been Usagi.

I remember when I was young I used to think up crossover stories for Sailor Moon and Power Rangers.

That's cool. :) Don't get me wrong, I adored Trini as well, it's just that I favored Kimberly a bit more. I was a girly girl, and I had more interests in common with Kimberly than Trini.

One of my junior high/high school best friends (the one who got me into Sailor Moon) identified a lot with Usagi, so I would have never been able to "choose" her even if I had been so inclined. (I wasn't, though.) Michiru was always my favorite by a long shot; after her, it would have been Hotaru, a character whom I've always found very relatable as well.

I think the very first original character I created (for an existing series) was for Power Rangers. The only thing I remember about her is that she was a young equestrian named Jesse whose alter ego was the "Purple Ranger." Actually, I'm pretty sure that is all there was to remember. I didn't go too far with that idea. I wasn't into Power Rangers and Sailor Moon at the same time, but I'm sure that'd make for an intriguing combination. :)

I forget exactly when, but for me I think it was around 1994 or 95. I don't really remember much but I remember the episode, the very first one, and it was the DiC dub. As far back as then I remember, being the boy that I was, having a crush on Serena back then, that was weird and awesome at the same time.

At first, i played some Sailor Moon games when i has...9-10? I don't remember. But i always choose Sailor Mars on those games (i had used to love her but now i dislike her). But i finished Sailor Moon R game with Chibiusa. That's how i meet it at first.
But then, in this year, my second oldest brother (that exists?) showed me some Sailor Moon episodes, they where pretty cool. In some weeks ago i finished the 1st season and became a fan.

I guess mine is a little unique hehe. I have played a ton of a game called League Of Legends that some of you probably know and may even play. Well I played it religiosity for a long time and played a lot of a character called 'Lux'. There are skins you can buy for real money which change how the character looks. One of her skins is called 'Star Guardian Lux' and is based off of Sailor Moon. One day I decided since I like the skin so much, I should watch some of the anime it's based on. Then I ended up falling in love with the anime and I've been a fan ever since :D

Wow, how random! I guess it goes to show that fans can find their love in some of the strangest ways. That's really awesome Twintails.

One day I was bored on youtube and thought "y'know I might as well check out sailor moon since I've seen a bunch of videos about it". And then bam! I ended watching like 3 seasons in a few days. I find it funny how I got addicted to the 90s anime even though it's one of my least favourite versions (still like it though :) ).

I knew about it most of my life. When I was a little kid, I wasn't allowed to watch Toonami but my friend at summer day camp always wanted to play Sailor Moon, and I was like "lolok". So I knew that the show existed--my aunt, who is an anime fan, also loved it.

In middle school, I was really into anime. I loved the magical girl genre, but I actually didn't want to watch Sailor Moon. It was my best friend's favorite, but I thought that it was too "cliche".  The summer before my ninth grade year, though, I started watching it subbed on YouTube, and I was like, "hey, this is...pretty awesome."

I've been a moonie for seven years, now.

My first anime was probably Cowboy Bebop. I didn't pay attention to Sailor Moon when it was airing.

Post #54 on this thread describes the interesting and funny story on how I discovered Sailor Moon and started watching in 2016.

That's awesome and Cowboy Bebop is a very amazing series. That's very cool that your sister got you into liking Sailor Moon and the anime series you mentioned called Akazukin Chacha sounds like a very interesting series.
