They should pay more attention to each character's different physical features?
I mean, Mako-chan's always been tall, and sometimes her "talents" are accentuated.
Around S we saw minor improvements--different eye shapes.
But, should we expand the horizons--different facial features, different heights, different body structures?

For example:
:usagi: being short and in the beginning of the series, slightly pudgy, :ami: being taller but more petite and thin (I could see them making Ami more pear shaped  ), giving each of the girls unique facial features so that they don't look the same, or even making them look different in their fuku (they all were suddenly given hourglass figures in Senshi form; their SuperS attacks are good examples of that). Maybe they could give Mako more muscle build; or even draw attention to a nice set of abs in beach episodes.

And the same for the outers? I know they were more mature, but they all had the same body structure and were drawn similarly sometimes.

What do you think?

I don't think it would happen...
A note on the eyes- the eyes (and animation) varied from episode to episode throughout the entire series. There's 3 different ones (key animators?) that I can discern with different qualities. For the most part, they've always had individualized eyes.

One thing about Naoko Takeuchi's original vision, is she's said that one of the controversial things about her starting up the series had to do with every character being perfectly gorgeous. Up until that point fighting teams had characters that were very different looking from each other. The important differences come from their personalities.

Speaking of the new anime, do you guys think it's going to be delayed again? There still hasn't been any new information about it.

I wish that they would make unique bodytypes. It would show their own personalities.
I've always been aware that Mako wasn't too different from the other girls,
even though she's suppose to be the muscles and it irritated me!

with nice long legs, thin waists, pretty faces & short skirts...They are pretty unique in my book  but I understand where you are coming from, although I always thought they were pretty much individualized
via personalities, color etc..but are still pretty guardians. Makoto seemed "mature" in design in bathing suits to me. I dont think they will change their body types.. & to the question
about the anime being delayed..I dont think it is just of yet..We still have this month and next month so lets keep hoping.

I am beginning to believe that the Sailor Moon Reboot is nothing more than a mass delusion. Somewhere out on the internet someone keeps making rumors of a delay or hacks a news site to announce it, and we all buy in.

And incidentally such rumors have turned out to be true in the last time it was delayed - let's hope this wouldn't happen again. *sigh*

They should animate it similar to My-Hime.

They do vary in features tho, so no one can say they look exactly the same.
They don't look exactly, 100% the same, of course, lol but the issue raised here is that they look too similar on various aspects in their appearance.

From the way some of the characters talk, enough though is isn't visually portrayed, if Usagi was real, she'd be chubby. I think it'd be unique to have a chubby main female.

And the characters concerned don't need to look obese - just a bit plump is fine (& uber sexy, too  ).

Yeah, that's cool. You're right. Let's keep the world in this "Only skinny girls can strive!" mindset. :)

Key animators have nothing to do with this - they just follow the directions of the animation director. The two people that play the most important role in character design are the character designer and the animation director. For the first two seasons, the character designer was Kazuko Tadano. Tadano's style is, IMO, very simplistic. In the final season, the animation directors were given a lot more power over the final product, which is why the character design greatly differs between episodes. Ikuko Ito was one of my more favorite directors and animators in the series, but Miho Shimogasa was also very good as well. She's a nice person in real life too.

I don't know about key animators, I just kind of threw that one out there, but the animation still had at least 2 distinct styles starting from the very first season.
This is from the first season, taken from soul-hunter.com

I'm playing on the obvious differences of the eyes here, but the style in the first pictures usually gives the characters much more rounded features. I've observed it present in every season, though very minimally in stars. It's glaring to me because it's my least favorite. I'm sure they're all nice in real life...
What would the base of those differences be if one person is designing the characters?
