In the original anime, do any of you think Hotaru would go back her father after the battle with Chaos?

I don't want to think of the Outers kidnapping Hotaru because Professor Tomoe seemed to understand her daughter's destiny when Setsuna went up to her and said she came for her.

They didn't kidnap her they just took her so as to help her in her training and growth. Personally I always thought that Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna moved in at the end of Sailor Stars with Hotaru and Professor Tomoe and helped raised Hotaru.

Outside of the universe, I think it was so the setting of the manga and anime was consistent so that Hotaru in both the manga and anime adaptation was living with the Outers family by the time Stars set up for the big Shadow Galactica Arc.

In the anime I don't think Setsuna kidnapped Hotaru in 167; if I remember correctly didn't Setsuna give him a knowing look, meaning he knew her identity as Sailor Saturn?

But I don't think Hotaru would go back and live with him because of her identity as Sailor Saturn. She's not innocent and shy anymore, instead she's super smart, psychic and is more Saturn than Hotaru yknow lol

Plus like you said Tomoe seemed to understand her destiny.

I don't think they did anything wrong when they kind of took custody of her in Stars but it made no sense that they did actually essentially kidnap her at the end of S when they were actually so adamantly against Usagi trying to save her. Ridiculous that they would go anywhere near that child.

Well I have to disagree with Science Project 88 I don't think that Hotaru would not live with her father anymore one thing about the end of S was to give Hotaru and Professor Tomoe and new chance at life so I am sure she would eventually go back to her father.

I think they realize they were wrong in the end of S all though they mainly wanted to kill her because of her being the Messiah of Silence. Now that Mistress 9 is gone Hotaru is just a normal kid albeit with amazing powers over life and death.

Yeah that still doesn't make it normal for them to kidnap a kid who they had been wanting to kill play so they can play house with her and then give her back to her father like they actually had some part in saving her or something. Sailor Moon was the one who risked everything to save her and they leave her passed out not knowing what happened to Hotaru. They should have had enough shame to let Sailor Moon bring her home and then apologize to Hotaru (even if she couldn't understand).

I don't see any reason for Hotaru to not go back to her father. She's still his daughter, and I'm sure, custody-wise, all of them could come to some sort of arrangement.

Can you imagine of of the lies Tomoe would have to tell to explain the situation, though? His young daughter became an infant and then grew up to be a preteen again. How would she even have a legal identity? "Weren't you just a newborn yesterday?"
