Since they're using the upscale, they will probably need to wait until Japan releases the Blu-ray box sets first which judging by their bi-monthly schedule, will probably be around Summer & Fall 2018.

Strange! They messaged me saying they will be using the European masters for SuperS & Stars DVD box sets in order to match the quality of seasons 1-3.

So has anyone bought set 2 from madman i seem to keep having the same glitch i have already received two box sets and it seems to glitch on the same scene when sailor moon uses rainbow moon heart ache on the monster in episode 117 when the monster is saying no way it glitches and skips for a second?

I have it. I haven't seen that myself though.

Could some ask madman why they haven’t released season 1 in HD on iTunes or Google Play please? I emailed but no response and I don’t have Facebook. PLEASE someone

Considering Japan got a Blu-ray release not too long ago I would say (assuming the Japanese Blu-ray isn't simply an upscale of the DVD footage) yes an HD version does exist.

I'm not sure what Madman plans on doing for the DVD's, if they're smart they'll keep using the Italian DVD masters for the DVD releases to keep a consistent visual quality to the previous sets, using the Japanese Blu-ray footage for DVD's going forward would probably be a bad idea on the basis that the higher level of DNR that was done for the Blu-rays would make the DVD look blurrier and less detailed compared to the Italian DVD masters which retain more of the grain and visual clarity (in fact I'd probably go far as to argue that in theory a proper upscale of the Italian DVD masters could actually look BETTER than the official Blu-rays because of the lower amount of DNR although that might not actually be true in practice.)

Seasons 1 and 2 were upscaled from the SD master but it turned out much better than the VIZ version.

As for Madman, they did confirm last year that they will no longer be using the European Master for the DVDs since TOEI is now providing the new "HD" encode.

Sorry for the confusion guys, what I’m asking for someone to do is ask madman via social media to release their Sailor Moon Blu-rays digitally. I know it’s controversial as to whether or not it’s considered HD or even if the masters are better than DVD, but that’s what I’m requesting.

On a side note I believe (unfortunately) that Madman will only be using these new masters from now on for SuperS and Stars. Which makes the OCD in me go [BLEEP]ing bezerk. Sorry for the potty mouth.
