I know Disney recently bought Fox but why do people think Disney would buy an anime company just because of it? Disney doesn't even dub Ghibli films anymore so it's not like they have much interest in anime outside Pokemon and Yokai Watch and they sold all the Ghibli films to GKids. Disney bought Fox because Fox was selling their company to whoever bought and Disney just happened to be the one to win out. So unless Toei plans on selling, I don't see what reason there is to believe Disney would buy them.

And the only positive out of the Disney thing is less red tape for Capcom to deal with as far as X-Men rights is concerned.

When Hollywood runs out of profitable ideas.

I had no idea Disney even owned, nor sold off, the Studio Ghibli properties. Huh!

That said I didn't write that little parody thing in support of thinking it would happen, it just popped out of my brain based on the existing discussion. I don't have enough specific knowledge to really speculate, and I could just as easily imagine it going either way.

I presume the whole concept is just based on the trend that Disney has bought a lot of major companies in the past few years- but how major or relevant is Toei to them? Probably not very, it sounds like. To say nothing of what other factors are involved, as Toei is a very old and foreign company.

I for one would love for Sailor Moon to be a Disney Princess. Plus, I've heard that in the Japan pavilion at Disneyworld that they sell Sailor Moon and Studio Ghibli stuff. :o

I hope people are joking about Disney buying Toei because like, IIRC, it's all but impossible for a non-Japanese company to buy a Japanese company.

Anyways give us PGSM 2.

Just bring all the original actresses back

TOEI will submit themselves to Disney.
 For Elysion's sake, let's not challenge it! I'm afraid that on that day I'd probably shoot myself. P-:
Would you rather it be Warner Bros.?

If Sailor Moon becomes part of the Hanna Barbera library then Cartoon Network could cancel Adult Swim and go back to filling the late night hours with Hanna Barbera cartoons while ALSO going back to showing Sailor Moon late at night and I'm pretty sure brains would be melted. And if for some reason they used the DiC dub instead of Viz, brains would be boiled.

I would low-key love a Sailor Moon / Scooby-Doo crossover. (Transformation sequence references in the Scooby Doo/KISS movie don't count!)

Considering Yu Yu Hakusho just got confirmed for a special for next year, I think the same may happen with Sailor Moon.
Yu Yu Hakusho is not Toei, it's Pierrot plus that "special" is an OVA only meant for the new 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Box re-releases so it means nothing. They did something similar for the previous Blu-ray Boxes in 2009 in the form of a picture drama set after the events of the anime and nothing came out of that afterwards (plus we never got that here in the states). The only other thing these new boxes have going for them which don't make them a complete waste is the 2 movies coming to Blu-ray for the first time which is a very big deal since movie 1 was previously released on a bonus DVD in the original sets and movie 2 never had a Japanese disc release at all so the remaster for those will be interesting.

Anyway, If the same happened with Sailor Moon it would have been announced with the Japanese Blu-ray Boxes back in January which didn't happen.

Ami and Velma examining clues together and Usagi joining Shaggy and Scooby's ill-fated sojourns to the haunted dining hall buffets does actually sound pretty great, and I'm not even that big on Scooby Doo... maybe it could tie in with that weird season 1 episode, 20, about the psychic girl at the Pension Addams?

I know. Im just saying that anything is possible considering all of these animes are getting more added to it (Yu Yu Hakusho included).
