So apparently, Naoko Takeuchi is the same MBTI and Enneagram as me: INFP/4w5
Personality Database: Naoko Takeuchi
Even her second most voted type on this site is my secondary MBTI type: ENFP.
Of course, I don't believe this is official, but it seems to be how most people view her.

It would make sense. Usagi is a pretty clear ENFP in the anime and people claim she's ESFJ or INFP in the manga and Crystal...
and Usagi often feels like a self-insert more than Minako ever did in Sailor V, at least.
(Disclaimer: For the record, I do not think self-inserts are inherently a bad thing and are often a way to make a character's inner thoughts believable...they happen all the time in media to varying degrees of success. One reason they're so frowned upon now is the influx of Mary Sues in media).

Looking at what we know about Naoko's life, she really has most of the INFP/ENFP characteristics.
Flaky, gets bored easy, takes some things too seriously and other things not all.
She can seem aloof, causing people to regard her as a snob, even though she's probably not.
Struggles with productivity.
Holds her work as sacred and wants complete control over the world and characters she has created.
Will write a tear-jerking tragedy, a love story, and then a story about lesbian cockroaches from outer space. :mischief:
Even though I prefer the serious parts of Sailor Moon, let's face it, some of the best parts of her stories are when Naoko just goes wild.

Honestly, she doesn't seem to let money dictate her.
I know everyone makes the car jokes, but I believe if Naoko really was so money-hungry she'd be churning out more manga and doing a ton of promotions, appearances and probably
even handing the whole thing off so she can just collect royalties.

Say what you will about her, but Naoko has stayed pretty authentic to how she's always been and love it or hate it she's not going to change until she is ready and I find that admirable if frustrating as a fan.

I wouldn't mind Usagi being a self-insert in the manga IF the other characters were given correct treatment and that she would be called on her BS after the 2nd arc.

I mean have you read the Stars arc... It's a love letter for people who can live vicariously through Usagi :P

Problem is this doesn't depend on her despite she being a household name.
If a publisher isn't interested, she ain't churning out anything.
She just can't come out into the Kondasha's office and say 'I wanna do a manga with lesbian mermaid dolphin girls', especially in today's even more competitive manga market.

Personally as long as she lets other people who are professionals in their fields (overseas anime & manga licensors, anime directors) do their thing, I wouldn't have anything to complain about her.
She could pump out 10 more new editions of the manga, I wouldn't care, I don't buy them.

Perhaps, if she had turned all of the energy she pushed on being a bully to overseas licensors onto the Toei's execs, perhaps we would have had more budget for Crystermos :P

I agree, she isn't doing herself any favors by forcing honorifics onto dubs where it just comes off as awkward and unnecessary.

Imagine doing the same to any dub of an American show and refusing to allow them to use honorifics because, for some odd reason, you want another language to shoe-horn in things specific to your language.

HOWEVER, little weaboo SaintFighterAqua circa 2000-2004 would be giddy at having a dub with the honorifics intact and I'd be calling all of you Fool-kun, Kasumi-chan, Lady Pen-dono, and memelord-sama.
(I really wasn't that bad, but who knows what hearing Mamo-John and Chibiusa-John would do to my young brain back then)

I think Naoko should do collaborations with fellow mangaka not just pop artists.

I would really enjoy that, even if it was just her letting other less known mangakas take a crack at doing a Sailor Moon story with her blessing.
I love how sometimes the ones who do side stories for stuff like Naruto and One Piece pour their hearts and souls into them.

Speaking of honorifics, I was so shocked in Eternal when everyone started calling Minako - Mina.
In Crystal 3, everyone was addressing her as 'Minako-chan' and now out of the blue, it's Mina?
When did that happen?

In the 90s anime, only Artemis calls her by this diminutive and it's to highlight their long-lasting relationship and complicity.
Furthermore, it adds to the male and female dynamic of the duo to signify they are extremely close.

'Mina' is more akin to a western nickname compared to the usual 'Ami-chan' or even 'Mako-chan' (Usagi even has to ask Makoto if it's alright to call her so and Makoto is flattered) so it's a BIG deal yet it comes out of nowhere.
It's like Takeuchi is trying to make us believe that the relationship of the girls runs real deep and the others are super close to Minako but where is the proof? :P

Also, while the addition of honorifics is controversial and debatable (the Persona series for example uses them) but, big BUT, the problem comes from that before they weren't USED.

If at the beginning of Crystal's dubbing (which I suppose Takeuchi had to validate some terms as several dubs didn't translate the transformation incantations and attack names) honorifics were added, then OK no problem really.
But it only happens in Eternal! Why? I don't know, the dubbing studios don't know either.

It's like Hime woke up one day, got bored and decided 'what to do? what do to? ........Honorifics!'

Also, as several people have pointed out, the honorifics are the least of the problems of the Eternal dubs as there are several and several errors on the scripts!
