Lately there's been a lot of talk around here about how the franchise feels a bit stagnant at the moment and is in need of new story content. So I've been wondering... Were Naoko to ever continue the manga with a new story arc, or were she ever to authorize someone else to continue the story (whether via manga, novels, or anime), should she/they introduce even more new Sailor Guardians? So far each arc of the manga has introduced at least one new Sailor, so would you like to see that trend continue? If no, why? And if yes, whom would you like to see be added?

Honestly, if there’s ever going to be a new arc, Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne are right there! Or why not Sailor Coronis or Sailor Mau? My concern about new Sailor Guardians would be a repeat of the Outers for the third time.

However, most likely a new Sailor Guardian would be introduced if the story ever does get continued. It’s my guess that a new arc would deal with parallel universes since the story has already dealt with a galactic-wife conflict...and how do you go bigger than that? So I’m imagining a new Sailor Guardian from an alternate universe at least.

I'm also curious if people would want any/all of the Sailors introduced during Stars to return. I would like to see them come back, and I'd like to finally meet Sailors Coronis, Mau, etc, but since Helios and the Four Cardinal Guardians didn't return in Stars (even though it would have made sense for them to appear), I don't think it's a given that the Starlights, etc., would appear in a sixth arc.

However, most likely a new Sailor Guardian would be introduced if the story ever does get continued. I think exploring parallel universes / alternate dimensions would be a good concept. Like you said, it's really the only way to go bigger than the galactic-scale conflict of Stars. (I guess they could explore other galaxies first?)

I really want 2 senshi. Two should have a power with Ice and Snow, and both were sisters. And I want one of them is in love with Artemis (not only because Artemis is my fave, but I can't stand with Luna's sneaky love)
Plus, I wish they both have beautiful and graceful looks and attitude like Sailor Neptune. Since snow falls gracefully

I think a parallel universes is indeed a nice concept. Butt part of me is against the new stories and soldiers ideas. Now Sailor Moon is considered a classic. A complete spinoff would just feel like yet another magical girl show. Sailor Moon has been ripped by other franchises so many times that some spin off would hardly feel original. A direct sequel like you all said it is difficult to pull of as Stars really dealed with the source of evil itself and I doubt anyone wants Sailor Moon to turn into Cw's Supernatural. But if they do something it would be better to explore already established characters, or use celestial bodies, instead of the Star Fighter, Healer and Maker naming, because it is random and too Pretty Cure.

I would definitely love to see new material from Takeuchi-sensei. However, she's been busy as mother to a couple of children, a son and daughter, and even wrote a children's book for the first purpose of telling a story to them.

But please, every time I go to a Sailor Moon forum, they complain that any magical girl team series after Sailor Moon is a rip-off. First of all, Naoko Takeuchi did what others were probably afraid to do and that was to combine magical superheroines with the dynamic of Super Sentai (the basis of the American production of Power Rangers) and it became so successful that between 1991 (the first Sailor V manga release) and 1999 (the Parallel Sailor Moon manga featurette in the back of a rare artbook collection featuring art from Takeuchi-sensei and fellow contemporaries), 5 seasons of anime, numerous stage musical, countless CDs with the vocals provided by the character's voice actors and tons of merchandise. Even into the first half of the 2000s with the live-action and the end of the first stage shows.

Also, a number of these magical girls team series were made by Toei, who had the animation rights with the 1990s and legally, they had to make their own. I can understand that it can't live up to the groundbreaking status, but the PreCure series has numerous differences that I would need a legal pad to list the number of subtle and overt nuances.

Personally, it probably wouldn't be fair to get Naoko to restart from a point after the manga's wedding ending. But if I was to write it, it probably would take place when Chibiusa is a teenager and is granted the power to fight as a Sailor Guardian. Sailor Sun, the Dwarf Planet Guardians (that is, Guardians with planets beyond Pluto) and the Sailor Quartet would be her team.

However, Naoko's number of manga series beyond Sailor Moon\V, prior and afterwards, didn't stand out much in popularity. They paled in comparison to the world of Sailor Moon. However, as an Easter egg in the first Sailor Moon season, the paintings displayed in the background at Yumemi Yumeno's exhibition that resemble manga are frames and promotional art from Naoko Takeuchi's The Cherry Project.

I think it would be unfair to put Takeuchi-sensei on the spot to write more to the story. She's probably fine with the royalties. However, if she were so inclined, she'd probably get the press involved during her authoring of the manga that it would be worth waiting in line for.

I think there are too many Sailor Guardians as is and one of Naoko Takeuchi's biggest bad decisions was that whole "every planet/celestial body has a Guardian" that Stars opened up. I get the idea, that yes, every planet can have a Guardian and thus seemingly infinite potential marketing-wise, but for me it destroyed the idea that the Guardians were tied to the Silver Millennium.

That's not to say good stories can't come from it; fans and even official works have done more (and better) with the expansion that Takeuchi ever did. But the way she did it was bad and really crippled the franchise.

The only new Sailors I would be open to are Sailors for alien planets/bodies/comets/etc. that we've already seen that did not have them. Other than that. No more. No more Sailors!

The Sailor Guardians were never said to be completely tied to the Silver Millennium so In Sailor Stars the idea that every celestial object has a Sailor Guardian works quite well. Also I don't see anything wrong with having more Sailor Senshi I mean there are several super hero universes that have large casts of super heroes.

Also I disagree with Sapphire91 I think a direct sequel could work well. Besides there are more enemies that could be dealt with outside of Chaos. We could have a story that say shows how Crystal Tokyo was founded and there definitely be more Chaos Spawns out there or enemies not related to Chaos. Besides Chaos wasn't killed at the end of Sailor Stars so there could be a story dealing with maybe Chaos infecting the Galaxy Cauldron and a series or movie focusing on the manga events of Stars with the Galaxy Cauldron. The Sera Myu as well showed there could be non Chaos related enemies like with the Kaguya Island arc, Dracul arc and Dark Sirius arc not to mention the Another Story video game. Honestly I think a direct sequel would be an excellent idea and if done well it could be awesome.

Next I personally voted for a Sailor Sun and I all ready have in mind a canon character who could be Sailor Sun and that would be Hina Kusaka from PGSM. You could easily introduce her to the 90s anime the only main difference would be that Mamoru would never be engaged to be married to her but out of anyone I think she would be the best candidate for a Sailor Sun as her first name and surname both have characters in them related to the Sun just like how Usagi and Mamoru's surnames are related to the Moon and Earth respectively. I even made her Sailor Crystal the Bronze Crystal which parallels to Sailor Moon's SIlver Crystal and Tuxedo Mask's Golden Crystal. I also had that Helios is her younger brother albeit with a complicated backstory in her past life and he becomes Sun Knight during Crystal Tokyo and Chibiusa aka Neo Sailor Moon's love interest. However in second place I would vote to include Sailor Astarte as she is a canon Senshi that really deserves to be fleshed out.

Because the "Sailor V" manga was not concise (Naoko paused it and finished it only after "Sailor Moon"), I definitely would not mind a "Sailor V" anime. It would use the first chapters of the manga as a "foundation" and then become its own thing: new villains, thieves, criminals, etc.
I would have liked that as well. I would have loved for Sailor V to be adapted to the 90s anime and use the Sailor V manga story line as a prequel to the first season of Sailor Moon. You could have also added new villains, thieves, criminals that could also work for the Dark Agency or could have also been new enemies. Then I would have had a Codename Sailor V movie that takes place after the Sailor V anime that would be based on the London story from the 90s anime and take place the same year as Sailor Moon Classic basically where Minako aka Sailor V is now fighting the Dark Kingdom and it would of course be before she unites with the Senshi in that episode in Classic.

What about SAILORMOONRED's cowboy character Sailor Earth? lol

No the dwarf planets would actually be a good idea.

Someone suggested a long time ago here having a "Sailor Moe-on" style reboot, I'd like to see something like that as a prequel rather than a reboot of the same story.

Well a Sailor Earth wouldn't work because again we have Mamoru aka Tuxedo Mask who is basically Earth's Senshi. All though there could be Sailor Earth's in the future when Mamoru becomes King Endymion maybe he would pass on Senshidom to someone else. It definitely couldn't be a daughter as Chibiusa is an only child so he would have to pass it to someone else. Unless maybe Chibiusa had a kid and maybe one kid could be the Sailor Moon after her and the other could be Sailor Earth.

I guess I should get around to answering my own question?

I'd love to see Sailor Soldiers for all the recently discovered dwarf planets. I'd love to see Sailor Soldiers for the Zodiac and other constellations. I'd love to see Sailor Soldiers for the Sun and other notable stars. I'd love to see Sailor Soldiers for Cruithne and the nodes of the Moon. I'd love to see Sailor Soldiers for comets and novae and nebulae and parallel dimensions and black holes and all other conceivable heavenly bodies.

But not in the manga.

Instead, I'd like to see Naoko put out a new art book that consists solely of illustrations showing what her conceptions of these characters would be. I want an art book of her designs for a Sailor Aries and a Sailor Makemake and a Sailor Sun and all the others. Each illustration can be accompanied by the standard character profile (civilian name, birthday, blood type, favorite and least favorite foods, dream, weakness, special skill) along with their transformation phrase, attack phrase, and maybe a little introduction phrase. Such an art book would fuel fan imagination and discussions for years to come, without requiring Naoko to actually have to worry about building a story around them.

But if we can't actually get even a reprint of the old art books.......

I wish Chibiusa would become a "double Senshi" in due course, i.e. being both Sailor Moon & Sailor Earth, hence having two different Senshi forms & being able to transform into either one according to her choice. :D

Well I don't think that would work as Senshi can not be Senshi of two or more celestial objects nor can there be more then one Sailor Senshi for a single celestial object.

I remember for Chibiusa though that I did read one fanfiction that actually had that her friend Momoko became the future Sailor Earth considering how close they were.

Citation, please? There’s a senshi named after the Cosmos which contains more than a billion celestial objects within it. And Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi MOON literally fight together for almost the majority of the franchise.
