I believe these are offical shows by Toei. The seiyuu would record lines, while actors would dress in costumes. I think Hitoshi Doi's page has some info on it.

EDIT:

Actually shows like these were reference in a SMR episode, I think episode 60?

There's a special word for these but I don't remember what it is. When Sailor Moon came out , Toei would do these promotional events where the seiyuu would record something and then they would have performers perform them at fairs etc. I think the Seiyuu even showed up at a few. I've seen a few pop up on nicovideo and ameba. I'll try to look later for the name.

Kigurumi.

(aka "creepy as HELL")

They had a bunch of kigurumi shows with Sailor Moon. And PGSM. There were also kigirumi-peoples at the Dreaming Moon event.

^ I think those mascots could totally do a horror movie, in which they'd play psycho killers dressing up as the mascots. :P

Some of the PGSM ones did use the Senshi actresses' voices, tho. :)

Found these videos - does anyone know about them? Do they exist subbed? Were these promoting the anime? The youtube descriptions aren't saying much, lol. What do you think? From what I can tell, they had the original seiyuu do all the voice work, and they must have played it through the speakers :) Talking through those masks would be horrible!!


These ones deal with the same Lemures - and Moon, Chibi-moon, Tuxedo Kamen, and Mars all make an appearance...

Actually there're PGSM ones, too, w/ the Senshi actresses doing the VO. :)

Huh? Seriously? lol! Well there's a lot of Sailor Moon Punch (and kick)! I meant it's not the well known PGSM as in the made for tv live action series with the infamous animated plush Luna doll, but I thought this was more closely related to the BSSM anime, just done in real life. :) Not to mention, it also uses the music from the anime. :)

Still though, I had no idea this existed until today. Does anyone else know anything more? :)

I've actually posted about the PGSM ones here in the past, & those mascot shows are pretty common in the country - there've been ones for a number of popular anime over the years. :) (BTW, there're hentai ones, too. XD )

Hentai ones... not sure if I should be like YAY! or be scared...

I found a few other unrelated mascot shows like a Precure one, so you're right XD I wish we did this kind of thing here in the states... we really just get musicals from what I've seen. (Pokemon Live! - that was a disaster.)

Does anyone know if these have been subbed? I can understand about half of it, but that's about it XD
