I've rewatched the Crystal dub a dozen times and I love the Viz dub a lot but I think I just found a major error in the dub that I hadn't noticed before and I don't think I've heard fans talk about much. There's a scene in episode two of season one of Crystal where Usagi goes to the library to invite Ami for ice cream. It's a bit hard to hear because Kate Higgins speaks so softly as Ami, but I'm pretty sure Ami accidentally calls Usagi "Serena" right in the middle of the Viz dub. Can anyone check this to make sure I'm not hearing things?

It's "Tsukino", Ami didn't start calling her by "Usagi" until the end of the episode and the name here matches the Japanese's "Tsukino-san".

Ok, so I was hearing things. I didn't think even Viz would make a goof this bad. It was hard to tell because Ami's voice was so low in this scene but Tsukino makes more sense.

I remember a similar situation about the German dub. It was in on of the episodes in R, the one with Shinozaki Makoto's friend and Falion cardian. During the scene in the hospital Ami says something that a lot of people hear as Usagi. It is possible for it to be the case.

@sapphire91 She definitely does call her "Usagi!", and to add insult to injury, it's even out of synch there (Speech comes too late compared to the lips movement). Both An & Mamoru have also referred to her as 'Usagi' on at least one occasion. Some old fan theories go that the Dub implies 'Usagi' is the Normality and 'Bunny' is just a nickname amongst her family/closest friends.

Another obscurity in the same version is the Olympionique character in the S season who apparently can't decide which Nationality/Ethnicity he has, going from 'Shun Hayase' to 'Sean Hayes' (or the like) and back within the same scene and depending on the person mentioning him.

So yeah, 'our' Dub is far away from perfection, but still widely considered to be one of the most popular/accurate/faithful. ;)
