Question about the #sailormoonredraw Challenge

Quick question about this since I'm interested in it myself, if you have to redraw a screencap or something, does it necessarily has to include the Sailor Moon characters themselves (or like draw characters in the Sailor Moon uniforms) or can it just be different characters but in like the same poses of Sailor Moon characters?

These challenges are loose, it's generally "here's a screen grab, interpret whatever you want from it." So you just have to make the reference recognizable other than that it's a free for all. I just did a different style but basically true to the reference

Some people have put different characters or multiple characters in the shot. One guy did a behind from a far shot making usagi an artist's model whilst we can see all the artists drawing usagi and her pose from behind the camera we're referencing from. I'm loving these types of challenges it's really creative.

What I'm wondering is why, after all this time, not only has the challenge come back to prominence, but this exact shot is the one that went viral?

^It probably got attention from people with checkmarks, this hashtag and screencap showed up before late last year but didn't get as much attention as now with big names joining in on it.

Sadly after finding out something terrible I saw on Youtube (which I'll post in another thread), I'm afraid my enthusiasm to try this challenge has faded...
