Dear God, those boots are fugly.

Also, I think there's an old interview from about 10 years ago that said the SabanMoon pilot was extremely slapped together, and that's why the animation looks so dated...and flat. If the series had actually happened, they'd overhaul it to look better.

They include photocopies of a photographed set of hands in that auction. Do I detect ROTOSCOPING there? XD
Perhaps, lol & in any case it's a half live-action production after all, w/ its animated characters based on real-person actors.

I don't know if it's possible, but is anyone keeping track of how many cels are being posted and the selling price (or non-sale price) of each cel? The reason for this - an odd knowledge of the total cost of buying all these cels, possibly ending up with all of them at some point - the final cost of acquiring them all (provided you just didn't grab all the images off eBay and perspective correct them) and re-animating them.

This could not have been cheap to produce, and won't be cheap to collect just to see if all the cels could be scanned and put up in a better format.

Someone ask the seller of most of the cels if they are going to auction a tape or something of the final production. I doubt they will.

lol I hope you're not planning on buying ALL the cels, 'cause I want some of them too! As soon as I can sell that DX2 Outer Senshi doll set that I've been meaning to sell for a while. ;)

I'll ask if they have the tape though. I'm curious too...

EDIT: Just asked. Also mentioned the petition I was never able to turn in, so maybe they'll relay that info to whoever is in charge.

EDIT EDIT: One of those pan cels of Moon, specifically the one I wanted, is off eBay. I think my grandparents got it for me for Christmas, 'cause I asked for it.

Also: Holy [BLEEP]. I checked that petition I made. It's got almost 50 more signatures than the initial 100 sig goal.

Some years ago I was hunting information on the subject of Saban Moon and actually emailed Rocky Solotoff, the guy in that interview. I can't remember how I tracked him down, but he might be http://www.toonmakers.com/ He was very nice and answered my questions with the following info:

-there was one 17-minute episode made

-it still exists, in some safe place
(he wouldn't say where, probably in case I knew any fans who were also burglars.)

-he didn't know who owns the rights
(according to copyright.gov, TOEI seems to have bought the rights, but I could be misreading the site)

-it was a cheaply made concept video, not meant to be shown on TV

-the plot would have featured the girls going to private school on the east coast, and legal reasons prevented him from revealing more of the plot & characters.

So there's another snipped of information for the thread. :)

That's the same place I emailed, but got no reply from. =/ I really hope the pilot is somehow released soon though. BTW, do you know why the cels are showing up on eBay all of a sudden?

No idea. I came to this forum while looking around to see if anybody else knew why they were suddenly showing up! I'd still love to see the episode, awful though I'm sure it is.

Well, wasn't the script being sold with some of the cells? I mean, if that is being sold out to the public, wouldn't you think that the pilot would turn out to be fair game as well?

True, true. Though I think only several pages of the script were sold. Still, this bodes well for a pilot release.

No. They do a transition from live action to animated. This part is seen in the clip we've seen.

Only what seemed like the opening scene. This seems to be material that went or was returned from some sort of animation company. It stands to reason the script for the live action portions wouldn't even be involved in this.

I know that. But look at the drawing right next to the photo of the hands - they look EXACTLY the same. I think, precisely because it was intended to be a transition from live action to animated, that parts of the transformation sequence were rotoscoped.

The transition to live action to animation. Why that? I mean, what sense does that make? It's always bugged me in cases like these.
