The transition to live action to animation. Why that? I mean, what sense does that make? It's always bugged me in cases like these.
Yeah, I'd rather see a combo of live-action & animation on the same scenes than that.

Maybe they're both different realities.
As I've suggested in my last post above, why not combining those two realities?

I know that. But look at the drawing right next to the photo of the hands - they look EXACTLY the same. I think, precisely because it was intended to be a transition from live action to animated, that parts of the transformation sequence were rotoscoped.
Perhaps. This could have been done because they fade from one to the other, so they needed them to match up perfectly. While the hands seem rotoscoped, none of the other animation does. I would guess this is restricted to the transformation sequence.

I said it once before as a joke, I wouldn't be surprised if the episode and test footage that exists is locked away somewhere in Naoko Takeuchi's personal office, in a safe high on a shelf or behind a poster on her wall. lol

-the plot would have featured the girls going to private school on the east coast
That would explain the schoolgirl uniforms, in which only private schools in the US require them. I believe the DiC version of the original anime also made that connection.
Nowhere in the DiC dub was it spelled out or hinted that "Crossroads Junior High" was a school of any particular type. It could have been just as well a public school as any other kind of school.

Could be a good plot in a story about how fans plan to break into her office to find & steal the tape. :D

Great, now I wanna draw a short comic strip with Naoko as James Bond villain...

Got my first bunch of cels. I was hoping to have better pictures for you but all of them are stuck to either their respective sketch or some other piece of paper. It's very difficult to unstick these without damaging them so be patient while I do this.

The script I received has more pages than what was listed in the auction. I look forward to scanning and transcribing those for the site. I'll share all of this in due time and keep you posted in this thread when I post anything.

See, that's what bugs me about the "wheelchair" concept. What disabled kid would really feel empowered by the knowledge that even superpowers would never let them escape their disability? Admittedly, had the show had good writing, they could have found a way around it, but the show is so clearly obsessed with "tokens" that I doubt it would have understood how to write that type of character respectfully. They just probably figured "girl in wheelchair" was all they needed.
This is a slippery slope because I have heard many disabled people complain when fictional characters get a magical cure for their disability, because they feel it implies that there's something wrong with them that needs to be fixed. I think general consensus is that it's better for them NOT to get a magical cure, at least from what I've encountered on the internet and IRL.

But I mean, like you said, this show was clearly obsessed with "tokens" (I'm still on Team Sailor-Mars-Was-Blind for the tokenness of it XD ) so I'm sure there would have been something else obnoxiously offensive about how they handled Mercury.

If the pilot tape would ever been auctioned, I wonder what its bidding price would be. lol
I wouldn't pay 2 pennies for that.
Nobody on this board has any commitment to the lulz! Sigh. I would pay one million dollars for that tape. But since I'm not a millionaire, it would have to be in Monopoly money.

I am just waiting for the Saban Moon skits and cosplay to start up now that we have images of how everyone looked ^_^ I know there are Moonie's out there who can take all this and make something great out of it, be it really good or really hilarious :)
This is a thing that needs to happen.

Didn't notice until today but this monster looks like the youma "Jiji" that Rei's grandfather turns into:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODz7ankd ... be&t=1m16s

Would not have thought of it but now that we see that other monsters from the show inspired these enemies, that makes sense. This episode played right before the episode with Rhett Butler, where the other villain we saw came from.

They seem to only want male MOTD's. They'll probably make male versions of all the other female MOTD's if ever the show became a series.

Yuck. The DD Boys. :dead:
