Okay, confession time: I play Farmville. Yes, laugh and mock. Anyway, today I sign on and I see this in the new limited-edition items:

A rabbit... driving a vehicle that looks very similar to something from Saban Moon...

Okay, which one of you guys works for Zynga? :mischief:
Wow, I almost have some kind of respect for Zynga now, or their employees at least. I seriously have to know who did this and how they got it past their boss.

They don't look exactly "identical," tho, but pretty similar. :)

^ I still think red hair doesn't fit the Mercury character, tho. I understand her animated version has to match the actress' look, but the actress could've simply dyed her hair or worn a wig.
Aw, c'mon. It has to, at least, fit better then her being a damn cripple.

Actually I've found her being a cripple somewhat fits her, since she's supposed to be the brain of the team (not sure if they'd follow that in this version, tho) - kinda like Prof. X. lol

Sailor Corkury, FTW.

Generations from now, college students studying pre-21st century civilization will look back upon the 1980s and early 1990s and all the stupid tropes we employed.

Because, prior to this show, a retarded redhead has never been done.

(In case you're wondering, the pic is of Corky from "Life Goes On" which is a very touching 80s show about a white family and their disabled son, Corky.)

And a cripple with super powers?! Never saw that coming either.

Well, Prof. X was balanced out in that his powers were far more then exceptional. (Second only to Jean Grey and Psylocke if I remember correctly.) And while we have no solid ground on what Mercury's powers were in this version of the show (aside from her Death Beam Shooting wheelchair), if they're anything like her bubbles, I'd hardly think that she'd be a balanced character.

But that's just my take on her. If you're going to create a gimp, you should balance that character out somehow other then just being smart. It's kind of like what happened to Billy in Power Rangers Zeo. Sure, he was smart. But he was now utterly worthless.

If her intelligence were so extreme, perhaps even ridiculously so (as per that ridiculous "IQ300" thing in the anime :P ), she wouldn't even need such balancing at all, as she'd have the full protection of her team mates &/or her "super wheelchair." lol

Funny enough I'm writing a fanfic based in the post-apocolyptic Sailor Cosmos timeline where Sailor Soldiers from an alternate universe arrive (Sailor Ares, Sailor Hermes, Sailor Zeus and Sailor Aphrodite). I'm actually going to use some of the stuff from Saban Moon like the Moon Surfers and possibly Sailor Hermes on a wheel chair.... but they aren't the Saban Moon gang but instead they are Sailor Soldiers in the Silver Millenium where they actually defeated Queen Beryl and Metalia during the 1st war.

Y'know, I take back what I said. Mainly because I still find that wheelchair to be f*cking awesome. Oh, the things I'd be willing to do to get that chair of blazing death.

If I recall, Billy was offered to continue as a Ranger when Zeo started, but he gave his position to the newcomer Tanya instead. He chose to get gimped.

And the reason they had him do that was because David Yost was thinking of leaving the series during Zeo, so they crafted a way to be prepared for his departure when it would come about. Though, his actual departure caught them off guard, so Billy's leaving had to be written in pretty quick, using a different actor and then stock footage/a soundalike to give his character closure.

I am always amazed at how much useless crap you know, Sabr.

I would like to play Trivial Pursuit against you, good sir. It shall be a match for the ages.

You can thank Linkara's "History of Power Rangers" series and the recent David Yost interview for that, as I didn't know any of that until those two explained it. And it's kinda unsettling when you realize he left due to accusations of his orientation, as he said in the interview.

Was there ever any doubt? Even when I was a kid I thought he was an uke...ok, granted, didn't know that word then, but...yeah...I thought he was overly passive.

Not that I think that should matter when it comes to acting, though. But then again, there was a lot of homophobia in the 1990s.
