Oh god, I feel awful to have been such a strong proponent of Fighter4Luv for so long. I had no idea about any of this. I even brought some criticism to the guy's face about sticking with the name "Princess Celestia" for Kakyu's new name, and he at the least seemed polite enough about it.

I gotta tell my friends about this; does anyone have some links? I believe you all but I don't know if they'd be so fast to jump on board the "Get the Hell Away from Fighter4Luv Train."

Thanks again. Man, I had no idea he was such an awful guy...

Didn't NegaVision also offer DVDs of their work too? And if I remember correctly VKLL's tapes and DVDs cost a lot more than the regular fansub too, but nobody seemed to have complained about that

Actually, people DID complain about the cost of VKLL's tapes at the time. Though if you got them through non-VKLL distros, they tended to cost less than if you got them directly through him. I believe he justified the cost by claiming he used the original LDs, but so did Studio Chikashitsu and theirs were easy to acquire at a more reasonable price.

I even brought some criticism to the guy's face about sticking with the name "Princess Celestia"
...wait, seriously? SERIOUSLY?!

So what, did he change "Chaos" to "Nightmare Moon?" ^_^'

I'm thinking part of it also has to do with the fact that every one of VKLL's tapes were "master tapes" since he would use the original LDs and layer the subtitles over them, whereas distros would actually just make vhs copies of their versions of the master tapes. But I feel like this discussion is getting off topic hahaha

As far as the Negavision episodes go, I can't seem to find episoes 167-172 but I posted the link for 173 a few posts back hehe

You should check out Fighter4Luv's fandub. They've done all the Nehelenia arc and the first ep after. http://www.starsfandub.com/ GREAT quality
...if by "great" you mean "Hey, do you really need Sailor Stars be censored, Americanized, and just as badly handled as the old dub?"

Dubbing Stockholm Syndrome at its finest.
Since we're not hacking up the episodes like DIC did, I wouldn't be so quick to compare us to the old days of severe censorship.

I don't like any dub that treats its source material that badly. Doubly so when it's a so-called "fan".

Oh, and triply so when it's a guy that slaps his name all over other people's work and sells for it profit without permission. Even DiC did their crappy dub with Toei's okay.
One, I love the source material of Sailor Moon, and as an artist myself, I appreciate the animation more than anything! Why do you think I'm a fan of the series (both English adaptation and original Japanese). We do what we do because this is what majority of fans wanted so don't be going off at me.

Two, I don't slap my name over other people's work! I just want people to be able to find other episodes that we've done if we watermark it. We're not the first to do this either, and also I DO NOT SELL ANYTHING FOR PROFIT!! I don't know where u got that info from, but I have given out discs to Sailor Moon cosplayers at conventions in our local city and I have never charged anyone!! I do all of this out of my own pocket, thanks.

You think that's bad? Corey has the VAs in his fandub under strict agreements, including the fact that they are not allowed to make any fandubs videos of any kind, including amateur ones. This could explain why some VAs such as for Sailor Uranus and sailor Mars got replaced after a while.

That's why I want to find the NegaVision dub. The charge was purely the cost of the tape. they made no profit and Negavision was a very great group.
There is no such "agreement" with people who have volunteered to voice characters. I encourage them to fandub in other projects, and have even passed on their info to other fandubbers who loved the voices that we chose. Sailor Uranus was replaced because she started doing professional work I believe. Same with our Mini Moon, and our Mars had issues with her throat from a really bad infection she picked up, so that's the reason they had to get replaced.

Again, I make no profit and the cast and crew all get a long. Not sure where you heard all this rubbish.

Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. What has been said on this thread has upset me so much. All I wanted to do was be a part of Sailor Moon history and help the fans get something that's not available officially yet :( I'm sorry If I've given anyone the impression that I was doing this for any other reason.

If other fans have any suggestions or input, I'd appreciate you coming to me and not saying stuff like this behind my back. I just want our fandub to be awesome :)

I thought Sailor Moon had taught people to be better than this... :(

I didn't think what people were saying sounded like you at all, Corey. Every time I've talked to you, you've been nothing but nice and respectful towards me :) I like your fandubs and can't wait for episode 8 to come out ;)

Thank you. Anyone who truly knows me would know those comments written about me, or anyone apart of my fandub, are bogus.

I've heard from multiple people that disc were being sold, not given away, but sold at conventions but I guess they were just all extravagant liars. I've also heard various bits over the last couple of years about unhappy voice actors from the first few episodes but that may be false as well.

I don't agree with a lot of the creative choices and what I see as ridiculous censoring in the F4L dub but then again it's my choice not to watch it and I will certainly do just that. I will also discourage others from watching it. It is in no way anything close to official nor will it be remembered or recalled by the fandom at large just as every other fandub in the past so I'm not going to waste my breath decrying it, because that would just bring more attention to it and that's the last thing I want to do.

One thing that annoys me though is when project runners pretend to be the very definition of "Mr. Nice Guy" to promote their work and enhance their own image within a fandom at the same time, overshadowing other people that are involved and doing everything within their power to make their own face synonymous with that work. One reason I love Naoko Takeuchi so much is that she's exactly the opposite of that. Very humble. Letting her work speak for itself. Always thanking in her notes everyone else involved. Sort of ironic when people take anime derived from her work and then re-edit it to fit their own self promotional needs. But I digress.

It seems to me like something along the lines of Chinese whispers has occurred. The truth is I went to one Pop Culture convention in Melbourne, Australia (where I live) and got photos of any Sailor Moon cosplayers that were there, and for letting us get photos with them, I gave them a FREE copy of our episode 7 (ep173) on a DVD disc.

You shouldn't judge so quickly, and it would be nice for you to actually check out more than an episode and see all the hard work the writers, and voice actors put in to our project. I don't see why censoring is "ridiculous" when most of the stuff we've cut out is a few seconds of frozen frames where nothing was happening... just so we could make room for the "Sailor Says" segment that everyone wanted back lol. I'm not saying you have to like it, but we have always taken criticism on-board, even if its just people hating for no reason. I don't see what's so bad about making a fandub for the fans that asked. Negavision was pretty much our inspiration to create this in the first place, and they tended to pick on the original story... which is something we would never do.

I'm not pretending to be anything. I am who I am, and everything I have posted earlier is just me being honest and defending the awesome people who helped us produce such a popular fandub series. I'm always polite and considerate and that's why our episodes take longer than normal to produce.

Also, I guess you miss all the praise I give my voice actors and how much we treasure all the hard work they put in to make our fandub as good as it can be (ask any of them). I know we're not official and I don't pretend we are. We all just do our best and have fun to give fans of the English versions a glimpse of the final series if it had been dubbed by that company that first brought Sailor Moon to us in the first place.

I was originally excited about doing an uncut version of Stars, but a lot of people just said if they wanted to watch the original, they would do just that... so they wanted to see what we could do with a "dic style" version of it. We still like to cut nothing important out and It was my preference to definitely use the Japanese music whenever possible coz Sailor Stars had one of the best scores :)

Episode 7 had the least of the edits out of all the episodes we've done so far. Episode 8 (which we're almost finished) has barely anything cut out of it (30 seconds to be exact - which was a few lengthy shots of scenery and some Japanese script shots which wouldn't make any sense, unless you're a hardcore Moonie).

Wow, I don't usually come to this board and this is actually my first (and hopefully my only) post here. This thread just shows how even Sailor Moon can have fanatics.

I've followed the fighter4luv fandubs since inception and stuck around because of the sheer quality of the production. Say what you want, but this is as close as we've gotten to having Stars dubbed professionally. I've spoken with Corey on his own forum and privately through messages and not once was he ever acted the way some of you described him. Perhaps you should have actual evidence of whether or not someone is "selling" fandubs at conventions before you decide to run the rumor wheel. Not he said, she said BS. Because in the end, you look like an ignorant fool for spouting off about stuff that isn't true and in the end is hurtful.

This is why the "fandom" is littered with half finished arcs of fandubbed episodes because no one is ever pleased. Then come the rumors, cause the internet never lies! Be thankful to the people who create these productions for YOU. They don't have to. What do you really think he would get out of being a celebrity of a fandom as backstabbing and malicious as this one? Seriously, get over yourselves. You aren't exactly great beacons for the community. At the most you're the type of fan that most fandoms are embarrassed over.

Enjoy your "community".

See, this is why I asked for links... When none popped up after I asked, I grew suspicious. I knew that Corey and the Fighter4Luv Fandubs cast couldn't be bad!

Corey, I'm sorry for doubting you. I'll continue to be a Sailor Stars Fandub supporter 'til the end! :)

I'm sorry too. I just wish that someone would make an uncut fandub that's far more faithful to the original ala Dragon Ball Z Kai's dub (say what you will but it was more faithful than DBZ's dub in translations and adaptation).

In the end, this entire discussion really doesn't matter. It's a fandub, just like NegaVision, Mark Sprague, and ton of other sailor moon Fandubs before it. As for the fact that people are saying F4L is trying to pull it off as being official, that's just because of all the hard work put into production of the episodes which makes it seem so official.

Some people just need to calm down haha stop taking this situation so seriously

And also, if Corey was such a tyrant, we wouldn't be stalled at episode 8 lol :P

Well F4L's fandub does take some liberties with dialogue, but you never lose any useful information, it's just stuff edited to add fun one-liners and whatnot. Although I do have to point out I don't like some of the name changes lol however, all the major changes have been polled from the fans, and so majority rules

The fact that you see NO problem with altering the actual content of the episodes sums up exactly why your project is disrespectful to the creators of this franchise.

You know, the people you're hitching a free ride on the publicity train from?

Chill down Rebochan. After Stars(/pgsm for some), Sailor Moon ceased to exist as anything other than a memory being another silly kid show from the 90s.
Fans had nothing for at least ten freaking years to play with aside from the infinitely repeat threads (you'll find a crapton around here) and low-quality shipping threads, interlaced with fan-art and done to the death fanfics like stories of sailor sun/erf *shudders*, and fics o e-upping stars (I call BS!).

I for one welcome the fandubs, as they bring some life into a community so in need of creative works. Because if fans can't get their stuff together and create good stuff on their own, it's a lost cause.
