They changed the dialogue which would have otherwise indicated their intimacy... I am quite taken aback by your disagreement.

I still remember the Negavision Sailor Says that said something like "Today on Sailor Moon we learned that Amara and Michelle aren't cousins, but are actually lesbians." Best Sailor Says ever!

And as for everyone still complaining about the "cousins," like it or not, it has been written in the North American continuity. We can't pretend it never happened, so why deny it? F4L doesn't touch on the subject so his fandub isn't perpetuating anything FYI
The thing is though, why bother repeating it and other mistakes the adaptations made? And while the fandub does try to fit into North American continuity, it still doesn't completely since it's not a Cloverway style dub, and oddly reverts back to a lot of the Dicisms that stopped getting used in the S and SuperS dubs.

Pretty much this.

I don't know if anyone remembers this, but there are two versions of the Cloverway dubs: one which is cut and contains animated scene transitions like the DiC dubs, each episode being 19 minutes long, airing on Cartoon Network and on VHS. And an uncut version released on DVD and also VHS.

The F4L fandub uses both DiC music as well as original Stars music.

And as far as I'm concerned, the only ones who actually needed a dub of Stars are people who liked and watched the original dubs and LIKED the dubs so I'm sure they have a big problem with the whole cousins issue anyway.

And also, Cloverway changed the girls into cousins because of TV censoring. Since F4L doesn't have that issue, he's not obligated to beat us over the head with it, no mention of cousins. But obviously since it's a dub, if it HAD aired on TV, they wouldn't have suddenly left the suggestive dialogue in there. This dub basically is what would've happened if Stars had aired on TV

Lets face it, if this were an uncut dub, it would be far superior than Cloverway's. I kind of wish there would be an uncut version along with the cut version

But don't you see? Fighter4Luv did a poll somewhere and the fans TOTALLY told him this is how they want to watch the show! It's, like, totally not his fault!

Second, thirding, 5th, whatever on that Negavision clip! That sounds like the kind of stuff SMA would do, but it would be hysterical if an otherwise serious dub did it!

Yeah, I voted for a dual audio version lol I was outnumbered. I do very clearly remember the poll though. There were also polls for the starlights names

And that's one thing I didn't like about the NegaVision dub, at times it seemed like a parody. Plus it used a Dido song as mamoru left the airport lol

I also voted for the a dual audio version, since I don't like the DiC music at all. I would so be in love with F4L's fandub if they released two audio versions: one with original uncut music and the other with their DiC/original BGM mix.

Maybe if people request it, they can change how they are doing things, but then again most of their fans want a "DiC" version.

Well we did do episode 1 with the dual audio track of ALL ORIGINAL MUSIC and then an ALL DIC MUSIC, and then the original MIX one that we did. Fans seemed to like this feature and thanks to SailorMoonCentre for encoding the files to MKV so the alternate audio tracks could be played.

And with the whole thing about Amara and Michelle being cousins... I did have at least one fan (most likely hardcore Christian) who wanted to make sure I kept their relationship to being cousins.. but being gay myself, I will not be saying they're cousins, and definitely keeping in the very touching scene towards the end.

I just want the DiC dub to be a starting point... and since I hated Cloverway's dub, I'm kinda pretending it never happened - thus I can somewhat rewrite those parts :P

Really? O_O For some reason I don't remember that, which is weird since I still remember watching the Cloverway dub both on tv and VHS pretty well...

The main reason those fans "need" a fandub of Stars is because they're only capable of watching Sailor Moon in English, and that's why they also think it should be like the rest of the dub. But that doesn't mean that there aren't fans who would like a proper dub of Stars or any other season, and I think it's sad that the only-able-to-watch-Moon-Dic-styled-in-English fans are so vocal that the majority of fandubs are Dic-based ones. What's even sadder is they also tend to be the better quality ones that get the farthest too.

Not really, since it would've been dubbed by Cloverway.

Voilà!: http://video.yandex.ru/users/wix2/view/459/# It's even more amazing than I remembered!  And @Rebochan in particular: It really did seem like something that SMA would do, and I agree that it would be hysterical to see an otherwise serious dub do it! :D

It's been years since I've watched them so maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I thought it was just the Sailor Says that were parody-like? Which I actually didn't mind. I do remember some of the really weird song choices though.

To be honest I wouldn't be the least bit surprised by those choices winning considering how vocal those fans are. =/ I do find it sad that just because those fans are more vocal we have to miss out though.

That is nice, but did you only do it with episode 1? And was that the only difference?

Yes, because it was too much work to do it for every episode... and that's all they asked for "a multi music track" it would've been too hard to do multiple scripts as well. Our voice actors have lives after all hehe. If I had the money and could do things officially, I'd love to dub the final season properly as well.

@1dbad: yup!! That's why MKBO's Sailor Moon Uncensored exists for the S and SS series, because when airing on TV, Cloverway cut a few minutes off each episode, and added scene transitions. And there are two VHS versions of each volume, one cut and one uncut. The TV versions of Sailor Moon are available on a private YouTube channel too if you want to watch.

Maybe just use the same script/voice recordings for all tracks, including the one with the original uncut music, so it would make it easier on you guys.

If you want, I can do the cuts for all of the original music tracks for you :)

It's weird that that's all they asked for. I know multiple scripts would've been harder but just having the original music doesn't make that much of a difference since the script and edits are still Dic-like.

I knew there were cuts for the tv airing thanks to SMU, but it's weird they didn't mention the scene transitions either. I'd definitely like to check them out.

Check the link I posted on page 1. Episode 173. That's it

My 2 cents.
I saw, but I'd love to see 167-172. I'm sure someone could get them up.

I think if you were to do a dual audio release, go with what Cloverway did. They recorded using an uncut script. Then for the TV edit, they just cut what was necessary. That way, the voice actors only needed to record one set of lines. And as for audio, I feel like KAKERU would be able to help a lot especially if a voice-track and an SFX track were provided, it would be easy for someone else to mux the japanese score with it. So all you, F4L would need to do, is record the voice and apply the SFX as you've been doing, and KAKERU can help with the extra Japanese score :D and then everyone's happy :D

I tend to collect both cut and uncut editions of Sailor Moon, which is why I have all the DiC episodes, some S cut VHS tapes, and also downloaded all the S and SS Toonami rips as well

When you edit later though it becomes confusing sometimes :P That's why when you watch the TV version of Cloverway's dub, there is always a scene that doesn't make sense coz of what they cut out :P
But at the same time, why did they have a so-called "Uncut" version when all it had was the cut scenes dubbed, keeping the edited dialogue?
