The Vice President of Azteca 7 (channel airing Sailor Moon again in Mexico since last year, after being almost two decades absent from mexican TV) said in a TV program they are scheduled to premiere remaining episodes of Sailor Moon (which probably means Stars season, since it's the only one they haven't aired yet) and air Sailor Moon Crystal in 2018.
This means Crystal is getting its first TV deal in the Americas. Minute 1:30.

This probably confirms what the brazilian licensor agent for Toei said in that interview I posted in the forums a while ago. Toei requires channels (at least in Latin America) to re-air the classic series first before finally getting to Crystal.

Most of the Latin-American Spanish dub cast is still active, with some sad exceptions like Araceli, the late VA for Jupiter. Toei's management in Latin America is highly respecting of classic dub casts these days, so I guess they'll keep the old voices as possible.

It's an odd policy having to re-air the '90s anime to get SMC. I'm assuming it's so they can force the interesting parties to buy both licenses. But this might be a blessing in disguise. New audience can watch the original anime and fall in love with Sailor Moon before being exposed to the horror that is Crystal and turned off from the property altogether.

It's interesting Crystal still keeps finding international broadcast deals in spite of the low ratings it had in Japan. I wonder if Crystal is selling better in international markets than it is in Japan.

What are the sources on the low Japanese ratings?
And Crystal's broadcast deals are happening way slower and in way less countries than Dragon Ball Super's are. Broadcast deals for the reairing of the classic SM series made it into a lot more of countries and in a really smaller amount of time, back in 2010.

I don't have any sources on me. I'm just going by what's been common knowledge in the fandom. I know the first two seasons dropped severely in the numbers of people watching the NicoNico streams and I had heard the season three Blu Rays sold poorly even though season three seemed more positively received in the North American fandom.

I heard when Crystal aired in Japan a lot people start or came back to watch it . Remember Crystal also aired on tv Ther merchandise probably still sold so that s why season 3 probably have tv released . It won't surprise me that Crystal is doing better in other countries. I wonder whats the ratings on it at Hulu or yahoo view .

The Crystal dub will have the same translator from the classic anime (Black Moon arc-onwards) and Chibiusa's VA is the director. She said she is going to bring back as many people as possible, and besides herself as Chibiusa, Moon's and Mercury's old voice actresses are confirmed.

Irma Carmona posted in her facebook that she was chosen.

Gerardo Reyero (Mamoru’s first voice) hinted on twitter that he was not involved in the dub.

Brenda Nava, official translator, confirmed on Twitter that 90’s names are going to be keeped :( that means that we are having Serena, Darien, Lita, Rini and maybe Molly?
I hate that decision.

And now I am officially jealous of the Sailor Moon fans in Mexico.

Hmmm, back in the day, I remember a friend in Uruguay talking about a particular Spanish dub of Cardcaptor Sakura that did EVERYTHING perfect in his eyes, except for nixing the trademark "HOE!?" I take it Spanish-speakers are about to get another superior dub?

From a certain point of view (mine), yes.

To be fair, I don't particularly mind the existing Crystal dub and I think it's fine. I'm more upset by the implications of this dub, though, but that's a separate topic.

Same. Not being Crystal's biggest fan, I don't particularly care about its dub one way or the other, but if we could have gotten it dubbed with the original cast I'd probably have been so happy I'd be willing to overlook all of Crystal's flaws. If only a studio in Canada would/could license the show and do a separate dub...
