Yes that is true. The senshi x senshi was cool but they had to repeat it twice. I guess they decided on movies, because in part, despite they added some action sequences, they were also doing a lot of unneded flashbacks, recaps and stuff to eat time, especially near the end. Season 1 and 2 did the same with the transformations. It was in both cases due to the fact they were so inclined to do episode per chapter, that on some chapters they were trying to fill them. I think this movie format ended up working, and they can easily make more action scenes by making the movies a tad bit longer. One way or the other the arc is a mess, and nothing much can be done in both formats.
As for that criticicsm towards Naoko, there might be various reasons she had to ask Osabu. Maybe she did it intentionally. Maybe Kon was embarassed to ask the author herself about it. You know Japanese people have some weird, at least from our perspective, social interactions as well as modesty over things we cannot understand.

As @sapphire91 said, they could have totally expanded the runtime of the movies in that case. I think a TV series would have been exactly the same, but with lower quality art (especialy because the designs would have been handled by Takahashi).

Stars should also stay as movies because I don't even want to deal with the discourse from this fandom if it changes into a TV series. This fandom is shown to be not mature enough to discuss these kind of changes in a rational way.

Osabu was originally in the supervisor role of Crystal S1-3, but was promoted to senior producer for the Eternal films. All that Kon said was that she asked Osabu to clarify one thing (Zirconia's connection with Nehellenia). I'm not sure how that diminishes Naoko's role in these movies or that she was not consultated at all (clearly not the case because the movies have made numerous design color changes that are consistently in line with the manga's coloring, instead of following the '90s anime). Maybe she wasn't available at the time (Part 2 was produced during a global pandemic) or maybe Naoko didn't remember and asked Kon to consult Osabu?

Can we just agree as a fandom to stop taking little comments and extrapolating them to create accusations against Naoko? It reeks of misogyny.

Honestly, at this point I'll be disappointed if they don't change the format for the Stars adaptation. :lol:

Technically we had two season (three arcs) being a tv show. Now we will have two arcs (technically two seasons) of 4 movies in total. I doubt they will go back to the tv show format.

It’s true that the flashbacks were a bit too much. Wish they could’ve done something else with the extra time rather than giving us 5 minute recaps.

As for extending the runtime I don’t think they probably got too much leeway with this. I expect before the movies started production Toei gave them restrictions (the 90 minute runtime) and they probably just had to roll with it.

Anyway I hope they take on the fan criticism leveled at Eternal and try to make Stars slightly more balanced, however with the source material being as it is it seems unlikely they can do much to improve on the pacing issues. If we can get a proper, beautiful and heart pounding final battle then I’ll be happy.

Also I’m sorry @Seira Hazuki. I don’t like the Naoko bashing, either. I’ll try to keep the baseless conjecture to a minimum. A lot of things don’t add up but I guess we don’t have much to go on.

I think I don't really mind about Takahashi doing the TV series Crystal V because I have been desensitized after reading a lot of Shojo manga from mangaka which draws similar girls to his like the manga of Arina Tanemura and Natsumi Andou, although I would not be too fond of it, I have read violent manga with a similar sugary style i.e. Sakura Hime Kaden.

He was replaced, my guess is Naoko wasn't. In any case he was replaced and removed. I doubt they wil go back to him. Keep in mind season 3 from selling point of view is at the bottom. S1 and 2 as hated as they were sold way way better. They cannot go back to his style. If they wanted him snd deemed it a success they cpuld have kept him.
