I don't think the romance idea was the problem, the problem was the extrem limited time they had to bring the story. It's feel at the end rushed and totally forced. If they knew they had no time to bring the story then they should have drop it! I’ll never understand their choices about that!
They had years to plan that since the announcement, they should have dropped that if they can't execute that properly.

TOEI recently said online to treat the remake of the last two arcs as the alternative Sequel to 3 arcs of the 90s anime, that is basically what I said before that they should have made a DBZ Kai treatment of the three first arcs then remake the two final arcs.

The Editors and TOEI were proven right in removing the Shitenou and Senshi romance in the 90s anime and manga.
sorry how is the 90s animation better?? I dont agree at all.

That is not my opinion, I am trying to point out that the first three arcs don't need a remake, it is Stars and Super S that do.

I like Eternal actually.

Storywise speaking I still think that most of storylines all seasons mixed are still better in the manga than in the classic anime. Crystal should have been a adaptation of the manga developing the plots providing in it. 26 episodes per season could have make it work much better. (I’m not speaking here about animation etc...). Just about the pacing and the story development.

Yes, it can if they planned it better.

If the TOEI and Naoko could not remake the first three in a way that satisfies the fandom, just recut the first three arcs like Kai and remake the two last arcs.

It is laughable that even after the movies are out and we know about them and we have seen a bunch of scenes, there are people that still believe Eternal is not Crystal Season IV. :D:D:D
It is both intended to be an alternate sequel to both the first three 90s anime arcs and a sequel to Crystal I-III.

I agree with sapphire91. Eternal cannot be an "alternative" continuation of Sailor Moon S. It doesn't match up and they even show flashbacks to Crystal season III.
And Tomoe is dead, Hotaru has been raised by the outers, Diana is there. Rei is a totally different character, grandpa Hino looks nothing like the 90s grandpa Hino, the girls are in high school, Chibi Usa has Neptune mirror... It has nothing to do with Classic - S plot progression.

That they wants even more to appeal to the hysterical classic anime fans and Crystal haters is true but Eternal is a continuation of Crystal anime it has strictly nothing to do with the old anime timeline.
Just take Sailor Chibimoon Graal as the ultimate proof.

No. Don't lie to yourself. It IS Sailor Moon Crystal season 4.
That is what TOEI already said it can be considered as an alternate sequel to the 3 first arcs of the 90s.

Look at the final product and get a reality check. Toei tried a simple marketing trick that doesn't change the truth. Plus TOEI also printed Eterna/ Crystal Season IV on Animedia article. But a glance of the plot and character is enough to see what Eternal is part of.

Because they want the 90's only fans to watch the movies. They've realised that many 90's fans don't like crystal so they try as much as they can to distance Eternal from Crystal. The name change is another example for this.

They are trying to please the 90s fans but there is no point in doing that in the first place.
