French fans reaction seem that they regret we will not get outers or starlights on the side part of boxes (which I agree with tbh). I don’t really like the fact they are mixing Marco and Tadano’s illustrations, but I believe it’s the corrected Marco’s art, not the original one ?

And at least they are using Tadano’s art for the main cover, which is coherent with this season. They seems to be using lot of Tadano’s art lately, maybe she came back with her cells and they were able to get high quality version ? Because before Eternal I have the feeling they never really used her art for merchandising.

It looks like Marco was fired from Toei. This is what has been said on various facebook pages which deals with the news on various anime.
All the images we have here are not of Marco for France. Crunchyroll France will only do with old illustrations (or redesigned by someone else).

Isn’t the volume 1 box with Moon holding the stick and smiling a Marco art ? Maybe it was corrected as they did with some of his art recently, I can’t really say for sure.

I don’t think he was strictly fired, it’s just that they didn’t call him back for more arts after he finished his Stars work ^^

Is there a reliable source for this? His artwork is still being used on various products, although certain things have been touched up. That's definitely his artwork used on the back and front of the first season set.

I think this is more likely. Toei has gone through various artists with Sailor Moon. Not using them any more isn't quite as strong as them being "fired." If they had bad blood with Marco, I doubt they would allow his work to be used anymore.

People who talked about it on facebook, were clear, he was completely removed from Toei. It would be linked to the controversy he made on The Rose of Versailles.

Precisely, the flashy colors were Marco's mark, there, the colors are not. They had to be redesigned by someone else like in the USA on the simple edition Blu-rays box sets.

It's on a private group dedicated to Sailor Moon, one person said he no longer has contact with the Toei. At least, that's what this person claims. I only report what I have read.

Just like they were doing during the time when ADV distributed Sailor Moon.

Did he ever have a contract, though? He wasn't a freelance artist?
Yeah I believe he was like commissionned for a certain number of illustrations as a freelance but never had a long-term contract. They don’t even seem to have one person working full time for promo illustrations in Eternal so I don’t see why they would do that for the OG series.

He was contract and commissioned for the design bible over 10 years ago. And those were essentially just updated redesigns of the 90s. It’s absolutely normal for Toei to now want to “update” the designs again a decade later. Most brands do this. Toei’s done it in the past with their Sailor Moon World designs too. Doesn’t mean he was fired, it’s just time for something new.

Also, the Rose of Versailles stuff was blown out of proportion by fans. I really doubt Toei took much notice. Not to mention, he hadn’t done any “official” Sailor Moon work in years prior to that whole incident.

What shocks me, no one put Sailor Galaxia on the box...
That we see Princess Kakyu, it's ok, since they got us drunk for about twenty episodes with her, to find her.
But again, no country manages to make a nice box. The Germans go all over the place and in the end it becomes nonsense.
