Yeah the first 5 mins was a great homage to SM. Also how I wish SM could get those types of newer animation (not style but everything else)

Not a "true" reference since this is something exclusive to the italian dub, but in an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the aunts tell Sabrina they made a lot of money by selling the magical rod to Sailor Moon. They probably changed the original joke/reference because they thought it would be too obscure/too american for an italian audience to understand it. Sabrina also first aired on a channel belonging to Mediaset(the same company that brought Sailor Moon in Italy) so I think it is an intentional easter egg
