However, nothing can excuse how terrible Chronos Typhon was.
I don't think it was terrible. It was just copied from a fan made video with some added animation. ^_^'

You would have expected a turboent wind of chaos instead of a passable Spring time breeze.
Also I had the impression it's an offensive spell and not a healing spell.

I think Kon balanced out things okay minus a few questionable scenes. It is my hope and belief that this film (with the help of Deen) will improve from the previous three seasons.
The battle with Cyprine and Ptilol is probably one of Kon's best fight scenes.

So it’s also a good moment for Toei to study the fan reactions of the leaked material and adapt it.
They will be closed so they won't be able to work on it. And do you really they care? They care for domestic market and Japanese fans seem to be happy with the material from what I saw. Just give up the mature look. I did 4 years ago.

I think they DO care also what international fans say, they have to. Sailor Moon is even more popular outside of Japan then inside Japan.
Do you know what japanese fans say about the leaked material? Could you share it with us, maybe with a source? I really want to know.

There was one video of it full of Japanese comments. Unfortunately it is deleted now. Most studios do not really care about the opinion of the international fanbase. And man western fans are happy for it. Am I personally in love with it - no. My favourite style would be Sakou's shading and the details, as well as faces with the eyes design for Eternal. I liked the lips and the profile shots when they were done right in the s1 and 2 style. If Sakou did the eyes like Tadano, with the shades and the whites her designs would had been lively and people might have liked them better. But Eternal is not nearly as bad as Season 3 was for me art-wise. I make an appeal to someone who might have done art or has experience to take a nice closeup of Yukie or some of the good animators for s 1 and 2 and just make the eyes in the Eternal Style. I honestly want to see that.

I see...is Studio DEEN doing decent anime these days? Do they have any special signature look or animation style? Anything positive?
They used to do atmosphere. They did quite good, darker stuff in the past and their shows always matched the expected mood. But in the last few years they keep on falling. Still they have some good animators and it really depends on the project. When it comes to horror or thriller - they are the studio I could go with, but shoujo and especially mahou shoujo... not so sure. But then it is Sailor Moon and a movie, so I thing they might work extra hard precisely because they are not familiar with the franchise and might add something fresh and new to it.

Toei didn't care about international markets back in the day when they had Usagi naked in the Stars finale, and they still don't care. That's how the Japanese entertainment industry works. They like the money overseas companies give them, but they don't have foreign people in mind while producing new content, with few exceptions like Pokémon and the latest incarnations of Saint Seiya.
Unlike them, their neighbor South Korea tries to please the international crowd. That's why K-Pop is so mainstream.

I’m glad they didn’t care about prude US standards. And there is a difference between international audience and international fandom, especially when the product is made for fans.

Funny sidenote: I posted on Masahiro Sakurai’s twitter the transformation of Cure Ace as a suggestion. Then they used parts of it for Chibimoon’s henshin. Coincidence? Don’t think so...

Mainstream... boring. I am glad Japan doesn't care about west sensibility. The world cannot at all times commit to the US standarts and sensibilities, If the cared al of the guardians would have been overweight as this was the fact they are slim was the main complaint. Japan has culture the way the West has. Why should they conform? If the show is so inpropriate - create better instead of dubbing Japanese shows. This is why I do not like localized dubs - you are dubbing a foreign product, it is not yours, you are a mediator not a creator. Japan puts their market first as it is a Japanese produced show, it is normal. Anyway, we won't see the film till 2022 - it will most likely be delayed till 2021 in Japan and we have to wait for the DvD release, so any discussion is pointless....We saw a trailer we were not meant to see.

Chibi Moon's transformation close to Cure Ace's? I really don't see the similarities honestly.

Hollywood cares about international markets. That's why they send to international dubbing studios proper scripts along with the vídeo files, while Toei handles them crappy and unreliable Engrish translations, making many of the dubs riddled with bad scriptwriting. Sailor Moon is a fine example of that. Say what you want, but the anime and manga industry doesn't deserve the international success it achieved over the last four decades. It was much more of an effort by local distributors, stations and publishers than their own.

If people think America's dubbing and altering of Japanese anime is bad they should look at how other countries, including Japan, alter American DreamWorks and Pixar films.

There were some really good dubs in the 90s of Japanese anime. I personally don't mind subbed anime but I know some people like to watch the show and not have to read subtitles every other second or two.

I still have hope in the Sailor Moon Eternal production. It's still pretty early. Even with COVID-19 going on. Things will get better. We just might get some good news this summer. I'm always ready for some new Sailor Moon news!

Okay, apparently all leaked material reaction videos on youtube have been taken down. I know about 5 channels who posted their thoughts about it (showing frames of the material). I didn’t see that coming
I'd like to think if Toei really didn't care they'd let it just sit up all over the place. They care enough to know Sailor Moon is still profitable and anticipated.
