Sailor Moon is what it is because of the anime version of the 90s.
That's why they are copying everything from it. Anything other than that will fail miserably. We've seen it in seasons 1,2 and 3.
It is not that difficult to understand.
Well, there are people that have grown out of love from the 90s anime. Most people actually now are a bit unhappy with them rehashing it . It is iconic but it is available and done. Nobody will delete or replace it, why rehashing it? Actually in the trailer there are barely any inbetween frames.

Crystal failed because of the lack of quality in storytelling and animation, not because it was different from the 90s. Crystal put here and there some easter eggs for nostalgia, and that was sufficient. I might not be crazy in love with the new moe look of SMEternal, but with good storytelling and decent animation I will enjoy this a lot.

I think if people supported Crystal's products when it had a S1-S2 style, then there'd be less appeals to '90s nostalgia. Making it movies and with the '90s anime's original anime character designer is probably Toei's last attempt at capturing a wider audience with Crystal.

I think eternal will finally succeed, honestly, as long as they adapted the material properly. People are finally liking the artwork - I mean the majority and it is adapting arguabbly the best manga arc, while most people don't like SuperS or at least consider it the weakest season of the 90s

I agree. They know they made crap out of gold, and the fandom reaction must have been bitter, because even if S1+S2 is below mediocre, many people worked hard on that project.

A character design might be a matter of taste, but its execution is what matters, and so far, Tadano's output looks good, no weird proportions or derpy faces (even though I agree, Ami's look looks a bit "lost" haha).

Maybe with the Eternal movies fans will appreciate SuperS more. There are certain things that an entire season can do better then a movie (like character developent).

But SuperS had no character development, it had good animation and re-hash ot used ideas all the time to the point of burn out. I enjoy filler episodes but SuperS is the only season I watched with a guide to skip the filler after a while on my first view.

It's the story that capture the fans. I really hate the fact that SMC3 is full of derp faces, and they're not fixed in the BD version... But I'm a fan of it.

Actually, it means exactly that (the part in italics). I don't recall ever seeing anybody on the Internet to use the term "moe" in a positive way ("Aww, it's so moe, it's my favorite anime!") While the word does originate from a Japanese verb that doesn't have any inherent negative meaning, within anime/manga fandom it is used exclusively to mock or criticize something.
That's only when you browse English-speaking fanbases that don't really watch much anime to begin with. P-:

I'd still argue season 3 was a big step up in terms of quality (both in animation and direction), but the story and pacing still suffered from the same problems as the first two arcs. Sailor Moon's characters are the reason the vast majority of people fell in love with the series, which is something the manga lacks due to how fast it goes. Following the manga as closely as possible, warts and all, is pretty much Crystal's original sin.

So the fact that Toei did not release anything official by now, even though they were supposed to because of Anime Japan, tells us what?
They never said they will. They were supposed to reveal info on the event, it got cancelled. Footage got leaked, coronavirus looms. They won't release anything prior Usagi's birthday. On the bright side Fate Stay Night will be released on cineemas as planned. So I think if films are getting to be released now we have nothing to worry about by September. So another 3 months of a wait. At least we got something, albeit in a very questionable manner.

Well, usually a company has a plan B for such cases, and mostly it is some sort of online event.

It is authentic. Mexican fans have the prove that someone at Toei uploaded the video (they made a screenshot). So can we stop speculating if it's fanmade or not? The trailer is ufinished and not official, but the material is from Toei animation.

Although I have to admit that they have never looked so un-derpy (Mako looks great here), I hate that they look like the age of ChibiUsa in season 3. I'm quite sad about it :-(

I am ready for this ... Money ready and all...!!!
