New head writer confirmed to be Kazuyuki Fudeyasu who has worked on select episodes of shows like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Head Writer: Yasuko Kobayashi), Land of the Lustrious (Toshiya Ono) & Pripara (Michihiro Tsuchiya).

Both movies have been licensed for worldwide streaming (outside Japan) by Netflix. It was hinted for a while but the final confirmation was through a leak on the US SAG-AFTRA database implying it's getting a Netflix dub at a different Los Angeles studio from what Viz used (VSI Los Angeles rather than Studiopolis) and that it's a union dub.....which honestly should have happened from the beginning with the 90s redub & Crystal.

Anyway, when Netflix starts promoting it, I'll be making a separate thread where all the multiple dubs, subs & video discussion goes (basically like HeartWarrior's Viz Crystal thread but for all versions) but until then, everything stays here.

Like.... I don't hate them....but...they made us wait three years (four since it comes out next year) for this? Talk about your let downs...

ETA: Don't get me wrong: I think Chibi Moon looks great and these feel like an upgrade from the Season III designs, but there's something really bland(?) about Usagi's face to me and, idk, I guess I was just expecting to be wowed. Maybe once we see these designs in motion I'll be more excited.

In the meantime, I just still can't believe they changed the title of the project. I mean, I guess "Sailor Moon Eternal" sounds better than "Sailor Moon Crystal: Season IV: The Movies: Dead Moon Circus Part Une," but still. Will anything ever be consistent with this franchise apart from its inconsistencies!?

FINALLY.

Those designs are great. They corrected everything that was wrong with Akira Takahashi’s designs:
-no more hair bubble
-the eye whites look better
-while still looking younger than Sako’s designs, the designs still look older than Takahashi’s

Super Sailor Moon’s skirt has a gradient just like in the manga.

ok, they seriously decided this is a good idea, like seriously?! With each character designer change, it gets worse. Akira's designs tweaked looked good, these look like flash animation. With this art and this name I doubt they will even adapt the manga....

Very excited! I like the designs. It looks like a blend of 90s and Season 3. Love that the skirts don’t look like Doritos anymore. The legs are proportionate. I look forward to seeing it in motion!

Ok. after the initial shock I realized the big images look so bad because they have just zoomed. Looking at them in the original full body size, they look ok-ish. Sure they could have at least show proper close-ups. Sorry for the screen writer/ composer confusion on my part. It looks like Moonlight Densetsu is back. I am sure they will copy all the transformations and attacks from the 90s. for sure.

The designs look ok. I'm intrigued why they look closer to their 90's anime counterpart. REI HAS A SIDE FRINGE IN MOST OF THE MANGA FOR GOODNESS SAKES!! But Rei certainly looks more elegant in her shot here so she has to be closer to her stoic counterpart... right?

Eh, I would say they’re deliberately trying to distance the project from the Crystal brand... which can only be a good thing TBH.
