To circle back on the discussion about Part I's runtime, the only other way I can see them keeping the episodic structure of first half of the manga is if Part I adapts the first four acts of the Dream arc and ends at Jupiter Dream, instead of Venus dream as we all assumed.

Part I would still need to make some cuts as Act 39 is double in length, but since 80 minutes is roughly the equivalent of four episodes, it wouldn't be as dire and they could still keep some of the minor characters that appeared in the story.

Tacking on Venus Dream with the second half of Dead Moon arc actually makes some sense because the story essentially becomes one continuous film after Venus infiltrates the Dead Moon Circus. The only issue is that the second film will need to adapt 6 acts, but we don't know what the runtime will be so it's not off the table.

I think cuts are to be expected and I doubt part 1 will be any longer.

mh i think is difficult they do the senshi vs amazon trio in one, because if i remember the story progress a little in each arc so all that information where do you put it? and the same the progress of mamoru illness dosent happen fast not like the finals episodes of super S in the 90s, and we have the chibi usa x pegasus ship
mh and i dont know if some say this movies have heart because it look more like the 90s anime than the others seasons, because they only copy some things from the 90s anime that i dont feel it much lovable and the inconsistency with their designs mh and poster of sailor mercury look like season 3
when i see the bad guys i start to like it a little more

That is why I think we will start with them going to the circus. Rei will go to the Mirror Room and Tiger will start follow her, Ami will take a fish home, Makoto will drink tea with Hawk, while Mina will got invitation to the casting. Then they will go home, the tiger wi attack which will trugger the main story happening for the moon family, while the rest if the girls might start having their turmoils gradually building up to a battle with the trio, while Minako is alone in the casting, while Usagi coffing blood as cliffhangee.

That's it.
I don't want Mamoru to cough blood just 1 day after going to the circus (if they want Ami, Rei and Makoto's stories happen simultaneously).

I mean, there's also a title page of the girls celebrating Christmas, used for a chapter clearly not set at Christmastime. The title pages aren't part of the narrative. That SenxShi illustration was probably leftover from an earlier stage when that was an idea Naoko was more invested in, but she eventually dropped the idea. If she had stuck with it, I'm sure she would have handled it much better than Crystal did.
I feel that the SenxShi illustration was not a leftover because it is perfectly possible to see Sailor Venus and Kunzite staring at each other, romantically, in the Sailor V manga—if memory doesn’t fail me, Damburite hints that she fell in love with Kunzite. Because the Sailor V manga ended after Sailor Moon, I think Naoko made clear that the senshi, or at least Venus, were linked to the shitennou. I also believe that Naoko approved the SenxShi pairings in “Crystal.” She seems too protective of her work and wouldn’t let a writer play with it. Therefore, to me, at least, SenxShi is canon. Whether Naoko would have handled the concept better than Crystal did is up to debate.

I think the Dark Kingdom arc is a bit messy because there are too many characters introduced at once (the four senshi) and the need to explore Usagi and Mamoru’s relationship, past & present. I think the arc should have been longer. I don’t think the same about the other arcs—I think the length of Black Moon is perfect, manga & Crystal.

As for Venus not impaling Beryl: They could have easily done that scene in silhouette, or they could have had Venus use the sword to blast Beryl with a fatal energy attack. Changing it to having Usagi try and break Beryl's necklace - which had never once been alluded to as having had any significance whatsoever - shows how unbelievably inept Crystal's writer was.
Yeah, the Beryl necklace idea bothered me & I wanted Venus to have her moment. I really wonder why they would change something that felt perfect on the pages of the manga to something that felt more “Disney-oriented.” Thankfully, there were no changes in “Black Moon” and “Infinity.” I do feel bothered by the change of art in “Infinity,” though (personal opinion).

But of course there will be problems... The shot screentime is quite disappointing. Today I saw Violet Evergarden film will be 140 minutes...

Part 1 is 80 minutes long, I think it's a good timer.

I wanted to see how long could make a Sailor Moon Crystal episode (Series 3), I removed the credits, the title screen, the end teaser (16 seconds).
Without teaser, we get 19.44 minutes.
There are 11 acts, if we base ourselves on the length of a classic episode, that gives us 214 minutes for the whole.
So if part 2 is 80 minutes, we will have 160 minutes to adapt the entire arc, which makes 2.40 hours.

Sailor Moon as I mentioned is doing fine with the screentime, especially for a magical girl shoujo. It's not like the plot of Dream story is soooo complex it can't be tweaked. While, I can see Toei has it's fair share of "screw-ups" I still doubt it would release a mess of a movie with Sailor Moon. They wouldn't be making an effort to change things if they did not care somw. Plus Naoko is monitoring, so whatever she says can be applied or removed is what goes.

And to be fair, comparing T.V. episodes to a movie as far as runtime probably wont mean much because the setup will be different most likely.

It all boils down to how many chapters are covered by the first movie. If its just the first four then they can keep the episodic structure and stay very faithful to the manga (pretty much panel by panel with some small changes and cuts). If they have Venus dream in part 1 too then they need to be very creative and wont be able to keep the episodic run of the manga.

As for the minor characters: i could see Unazuki, Rei's grandpa and Shittennou getting boot but i think Ami's mom needs to appear. They could erase her scene in the hospital but she's part of Ami's plot and part of her nightmare so she pretty much has to appear. They would have to change a lot if they'd want to remove her completely

I tend to read faster when it comes to the fights, and much more slowly in the Inners and Outers' stories.
Please don't cut the everyday life moments of them!
Cutting at half of Minako's chapter is the perfect solution, at the part she went to the circus, or before.
(I just realize that Usagi hugs Mamo and Helios appears at the beginning of Minako's chapter, not the end of Makoto's chapter.)

Hm ... I wouldn’t feel surprised if TOEI turned the existing first three seasons of Crystal into movies :mischief:

“Look, we have fixed the animation some more!
New audio with unheard score.
We have also added a few new scenes.
Buy it,
buy it,
buy it now!“

While I higly doubt them turning them into movies, if they decide to stop pretending the show doesn't exist, they might get some fast cash by releasing some anniversary edition with more fixes. But I highly doubt Sakou would ever work with them again.
