These look really nice. They all look distinct from one another, no Doritos skirts, balloon hair or foggy eyes. I think they look really good. You can tell it's a blend of both styles though not so much that it's distracting. I notice Venus doesn't have her chain tho.

The up close rough sketches to me are to show what they have become in the back. They all look nice... However, now I'm curious about the enemies...

Also, a new writer..Jo Jo Bizarre's Adventures...Oh my Lord...This is about to be that kind of movie..lol Brace yourselves for 2020!
Is the guy good, I never seen any Jojo.

Havent watched Jojo and only watched little bit of Pripara (Dropped it after Dorothy appeared, she is annoying) but Land of Lustrous was really good :)

Okay, deep breath...

I....LIKE it! :)

First: I am sooo glad there's nothing left of S3 precureish designs!

After the first shock I appreciate them more and mo Like sapphire91, I wanted something more mature, something she posted from S1. Those designs make them look young. But it's not MOEand that makes me happy. Their faces have that very early 90s touch, that character designs from Miyazaki movies also have. Overall, the key-visual is very high quality. Looks at the lines and proportions, I cannot find any flaws. The thin lines work for me as together with the background it reminds me of Takeuchis manga art. I can see in Chibiusas hair some Taichi Nakamura and in Usagi's face some Masahiro Ando, but it's so subtle that i just gives me positive nostalgia. I mean, I DO wish, Sailor Moon would look a bit older here, but what I really like is that Chibiusa looks so childish, instead of an adolescent. She looks really cute, actually and reminds me of a mascot. They look distinct. I can imagine that Japan loves those designs!

I remember when they released Yukie Sakos character designs and I found them really ugly. Today I see some charm, but it's execution is just awful. Look at Jupiter's fuku, Sailor Moon's eyes, Mars' head and Venus' chin.

In Tadano's character design i see not a single flaw, even the "sloppy" collar stars look like she knew what she was doing there. And for the first time I like those longer back ribbons. They give the round-faced senshi something elegant.

Can't wait to see this Sailor Moon angry and with a determined look! I wish they'd release some settei soon.

Let's celebrate this beautiful character design and be happy, they brought back an iconic look to the series. And who knows, they'll bring back Ikuko Itoh for the Stars anime project and we'll get that mature style for the last installment.

EDIT: And OMG they have a new writer! I see light at the end of the tunnel.

JoJo is way insane. If you've played the video game you'll see it too. I find it interesting they picked him because JoJo is "weird" series and is perfect for the Dead Moon Circus. Creepily good, dark and violent. We just may get to see some of those "darker" scenes here possibly...I'm waiting for Mars' to destroy Tiger's Eye...please don't let me down Kon.

Writing wise we should have a sigh of relief. The story might have more than enough strings to pull with that guy on board.

Animation wise we should keep an eye out for what's in store. Both S1 (as pretty as it was) & Season 3 had quite a few moments of stiff animation....(I'm looking at you Jupiter Clunky Power Make-Up and Neptune Flat power hair flip...in Season 3). I still like S1 & 3 tho for what they were.

This may be a fluid, well-animated production. What we really need to be watching for is how they handle the transformations and attacks. The one thing I really don't want are the same attacks from the 90's. As of right now...I am unsure but I hope we get something new.

Aside from the Senshi..let's not forget who else appear in this..The Outer Senshi and the Asteroid Senshi...The Asteroid Senshi make their first anime debut. And some cat-humanoid time is always a good time for the human forms of Luna, Artemis and Diana...We should be excited. I know I am. I can't wait to see them all!!

And this will not be the last Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon fandom will make it live on forever. A lot of us older Moon-bots are in our 30' and will still remember her in the 50's.

Also, just like Hollywood, they will never give up on popular franchises they will keep bringing that back up to test the market and do something new.

Sailor Moon really is Eternal. She ain't going anywhere. Our fandom still strong...!

You know what I'd love to hear from him? Arrangements of Arisawa's OST from the 90's anime. Imagine stuff like Uranus and Neptune's theme remixed with his sound.

I remember when they released Yukie Sakos character designs and I found them really ugly. Today I see some charm, but it's execution is just awful. Look at Jupiter's fuku, Sailor Moon's eyes, Mars' head and Venus' chin.
I totally agree. She drew nice hair and fabric, but the characters have such inconsistent faces and wonky anatomy that even she was clearly stuggling to keep it on model, if her own work on the Blu Ray covers are anything to go by. There's no way anyone could produce a good-looking series with those designs unless they had an extremely long time to work on each episode.

And who knows, they'll bring back Ikuko Itoh for the Stars anime project and we'll get that mature style for the last installment.
The most likely way she'll ever work on Crystal is as an animation director or a key animator, in my opinion. I'd also like to see Hisashi Kagawa work on it (again, since he did some very minor work on the first opening) but I'm not counting on it, sadly. But who knows? Nobody expected Kazuko Tadano back in the first place!

The ones you posted here were reffered to a concept art and not designs. These were her concepts, the designs were posted on the site, and for the later magazine spreads she further polished them. The ones we got now are ok as concept but not as designs.

Way to ruin it Toei, you boot one guy nobody likes yet keep the other? :umno:

EDIT:

So then it IS getting the Digimon Tri treament, here's hoping not too much is missing in the episode cuts.
I had suspected this, because it would give them to market it as “season iv” still. The episodes of Digimon Tri had things cut out? That’s so odd, I would’ve thought it was the other way around.

At least we are getting them sooner at this point, and once the blu-ray is out we will see the original cut as well. Not that I am as thrilled to see them now. At least they could have posted actual character sheets in different poses and all, as well as close ups. Not an image in original ratio, zoomed in again as a close up...

Wait, people are already complaining?

Given the inconsistency of TOEI since episode 1 of Crystal aired, I think we should actually be grateful that we are at least getting something.

I am actually surprised to be watching this trailer, honestly. I sincerely thought that TOEI had decided not to give continuity to Crystal.

I was also under the impression that the fandom knew that if we got a movie, it certainly would not be some kind of masterpiece.
